Survive As The Brute’s Wife - Chapter 86
[The Choshech Orb…]
Alexandra closed her eyes and she remembered the incidents from her past life.
“You were wild…” Cathlyn chuckled making Alexandra open her eyes. “I thought father would punish you for doing as you please, but he supported you in everything you did while he stopped me from leaving the heavens… But then, you were his favorite and it is-”
“Don’t say that!” Alexandra stopped Cathlyn. “Father loved us the same!”
“You know that is not true, Arimelda. And I’ve accepted that. I love you more than our parents too. So there is that…” Cathlyn giggled making Alexandra shake her head with a chuckle.
“I love you the most too…” Alexandra whispered in her ears. “Don’t tell anyone though…”
“Liar!” Cathlyn wrapped her hand around Alexandra’s shoulder and pulled her closer. “You know what, I still don’t understand what made you take that decision last time. Opting to forget your identity and to be raised in the world of humans ignoring father’s warnings… I know you always loved the humans for whatever reason, but they betrayed you, didn’t they? And still you… this life…”
Alexandra took in a deep breath and her eyes were filled with gentleness as she reveled in the love her sister had for her. “I was betrayed, Cathlyn. But not by humans as you think. I was nothing but a vulnerable, innocent, and stupid girl without my memories… I let myself get betrayed… by him!”
Cathlyn was surprised to know that her sister is still not letting that man take the blame. She is still blaming only herself. She is still naïve. “Yes, he used you and then~”
“Is the Orb still there?” Alexandra asked, this time, her eyes looked sinister.
“You are holding him responsible, aren’t you?” Cathlyn’s face brightened up with an enthusiastic smile.
“No,” Alexandra shrugged, but her pressed lips, stiff shoulders, and the anger in her face revealed the fact that she is indeed planning something.
Alexandra remembered that incident in her past life.
After she saw Luke kissing another woman, she decided to not dwell on waiting on Luke anymore. Not to mention, Tubby did what he did and disappeared afterward. She tried to find him but she couldn’t.
She decided to give him a break for two days. She was confused by that kiss and decided to think about it. And in those days, she decided to leave the city and go back to her home to her grandfather. And that means that she should let Luke set her free from the Oath she gave him as the Rose Knight.
She wanted to meet him one last time before leaving. Wearing the cape and the pin that signified her role as the leader of the Rose Legion, she went to meet the King she pledged to serve. She thought he would let her leave – and that was where she went wrong.
When she went to the throne room, Luke was in serious discussion with his advisors about something. Sitting on that throne that had a big white jewel shining on the backrest that was made with solid gold and was decorated with ivory. The throne stood on a platform with seven stairs. On both sides of the stairs stood fourteen lions with wings.
Luke did like Kefir more than the others as Kefir controlled his temper around Luke a bit. Her other summoned beasts didn’t like Luke and they never held their decorum whenever he was near. Also, everyone believed Kefir is the summoned beast of Luke and it has become his identity. And so, everything in the new Empire Luke formed had lions and eagle wings in them.
She noticed the faces of the advisors changing color seeing her entering the room. Luke pressed his lips and averted his eyes away from her. She didn’t care about any of it. She always felt the animosity Luke’s advisors had for her. She had access to anywhere in the Palace and she held the sword no one else can.
Tubby called it jealousy and asked her to be careful. But she never cared about those men anyway as they never affected her.
“Do you know what your second-in-command – Maximillian Zoros did?” one of the youngest advisors who is also the cousin of Luke walked towards her.
She didn’t like the tone of voice he used when he uttered Tubby’s name, the kind of smile he donned, and the way his hand hovered over her chest as he spoke. With her eyebrows knitted, she clutched her sword. That was enough for that coward to back off.
“What did he do?” she asked. “Beat you in the drinking game?”
She doesn’t usually act this way. People rarely use disrespective tone on her. It never happened when she was on the battlefield anyway. Only after they returned and only after the coronation of Adonis Lukyan did she have to endure such disrespecting treatment from those cowards who haven’t seen a day in battle. She used to endure it for the sake of Luke, but…
No one disrespects Tubby! Not in front of her!
She saw him gritting his teeth in anger. She’s beaten him in drinking him once after he challenged her and from then on this guy started hating her. And he hated the word ‘drinking game’, especially when she utters it. And so she said it on purpose.
“He is planning a rebellion, Rose….” Luke got stood up from the throne and walked down the stairs.
“No…” Alexandra refused immediately. “There is no way Tubby would do that!”
One of the eldest advisors was about to say something but Luke shook his head and asked the advisors to wait outside.
“You didn’t come for me…” Luke said and his eyes became red and his voice started to tremble.
“What do you…” Alexandra, although was under the decision that she would stop caring about Luke, couldn’t help but waver when she heard the pitiful voice of Luke.
“You saw me kissing another woman and yet you left as if you don’t care…” the tip of his nose got red as he stood in front of her. With all the gold around and the golden brocade in his clothes, his dark hair contrasted everything and his face looked like a bloomed lotus in the middle of the pond. He appeared as a lotus; a very sad lotus.
“I…” Alexandra was lost for words. She doesn’t understand why she didn’t confront him about it either.
” I thought you would fight for me, Rose… Dear Rose… You always fight for him…” Luke said and Alexandra felt like she was hit in the back of her head with a hammer.
She is not someone who gives up what she likes very willingly for no reason. But she gave up pretty much everything for Luke and still she could give up Luke too.
” You never…Why did you leave me and go to him?” he rested his forehead on her shoulder.
“It is not just this one thing, Luke… It’s…”
“So you gave up? Can you give up on me?” he asked holding her shoulders.
