Surviving In My Novel - Chapter 120
The trip was uneventful. Blue and the others did not really speak amongst themselves beachside of the amount of air being pressed against them as the flying bullet whizzed through the sky. They were worried that the air would possibly over inflate their lungs and cause them to explode, or something along those lines.
The only good thing about the trip would be the amazing view from above the trees and mountains. In the blue sky, looking down on the lush green forests and the towering old mountains. There were many things to take in. A simple glance was not enough to satisfy them, a painting or a memory that could last forever;that is what they wanted.
Travelling through the skies on a flying bullet. Who would have thought that such an occasion would occur? What did they do to deserve such a fun and enlightening experience? Not much, they just worked for most of their lives and lived well.
Blue could only bask in it, she had never flown before, so this all felt new. It was as if a new world had opened up for her.
However, for Simon, he did not really find it too interesting. With his powers in the Visionary World, he was already able to obtain flight. Through that, he had become accustomed to this type of travel, only walking because Blue wasn’t able to fly.
While regrettable, he still enjoyed a nice walk every once in a while. Being able to just bask in the serenity of a grand forest was enough to put the most anxious at peace.
“Grey! How long until we get there?!”
“I think I can see a gate from here… just another few minutes!” Simon yelled after squinting his eyes to have a look 1000km away.
“You can see that far?!”
“It’s in the term ‘Visionary’.”
As Simon said, the group finally arrived at the Divine Tempest Sect’s gates after a few more minutes of flight. Wu Zhong had to send the body back to the branch sect so he did not stay for long, leaving after addressing Simon and Blue.
“My other body will greet you up soon.” Wu Zhong went back on his flying bullet and left.
“Finally! We are in the big sect. Now we can train without you nagging me to be faster. Big sect equals more power to cultivate with.”
“Don’t get lazy. We still have to save the vice-leader… by the way, did the vice-leader say where they were being kept at? If it is a high profile place, I will definitely know where they are. ”
“The Golden Serpent Empire.”
“Oh, then we will not be able to save him for a while.”
“Vice-leader did say that our strength was not enough to save him yet, but how much strength exactly do we actually need?”
“If you want to get in there and rescue the vice leader, you would need to be an Immortal Master. Otherwise you would be destroyed by the empire’s sole Grandmaster and be ruthlessly pursued by a small but powerful army of immortals. This is definitely a matter which needs the utmost care.” Simon scratched his chin and explained.
In this world, the Golden Serpent Empire has the greatest power. Possessing the sole Immortal Grandmaster in the entire realm, the empire easily became the most prominent nation of the realm. With just a single word, an empire can be destroyed overnight. As such, no other nation dared to compare themselves with the might of the Golden Serpent Empire, all choosing to become vassals rather than becoming dust.
“Okay.” Blue nodded her head and agreed.
Suddenly the gates opened and Wu Zhong appeared before the group again, this time wearing a white robe.
“Ah, Brother Hui and Sister Tian. It’s felt like only a minute since I last saw you both. Come with me so I can introduce you to the elders and the current patriarch.” Wu Zhong began guiding the group into the sect and proceeded straight through, giving brief but meaningful comments on all of the places in the Sect.
“This is the main hall! This is the place where the both of you will be given your seats as elders of the Divine Tempest Sect.”
Wu Zhong guided the pair in, gesturing to the other three to wait outside for now.
Looking closely, only 21 of the seats were occupied, soon becoming 22 after Wu Zhong took a seat.
“Junior Brother Wu, you have brought us some incredibly young Nascent Soul cultivators today. You have requested for 2 more seats to be drafted for them in the main hall, here are 2 seats. However, are they really as strong as you say they are? You are already at the Immortal stage, and one of the youngest of all the elders. I believe that we must consider their low cultivation and wait until they reach the Immortal stage before approving them as elders.” Another young looking man suggested. In white robes, the man seemed concerned. There was nothing malicious in his intent, but he did seem against Simon and Blue becoming elders.
“Brother Wu, weren’t you a Nascent Soul cultivator?” Simon felt shocked by this revelation.
“Yes, my second body is. My first body is that of an Immortal.”
“Junior Brother Wu, before adding another elder into the fold, we must test their martial and spiritual competence. Although you have personally tested them, we must still have our own independent inspection. Nascent Soul Elders would harm our Sect’s reputation as a sect that only values merit! What if the other sects think that we are accepting elders for favours?” Another young man pointed out with a concerned voice.
“I agree, although Junior Brother Wu vouches for them, the elders must cooperatively inspect these youngsters.”
“As Patriarch of the Divine Tempest Sect, I have decided to give these prospective elders a trial. The trial will determine whether they become elders or deacons!” The man at the centre shouted.
“Patriarch, I request that you give them the standard Elder’s trial. If they can reach the standard that any other elder needs for them to pass, they should be allowed to become elders of our sect.” An elder with a seat close to the patriarch clasped her hands and asked.
“I agree. We should not let Cultivation give them a handicap. There are no handicaps in the immortal world, only winners and losers. To win, one must fight despite their lack of strength and outwit their enemies despite their lack of experience. Your enemies won’t give you a handicap just because you are weak!”
“This idea seems very fair indeed. If these two can pass the standard Elder’s trial, they should be allowed to become elders by default. If they fail, they can wait until they reach the Immortal stage. Ask the 2nd elder to prepare the trial, we will begin within the hour. There must be no delays to the important affairs of the Divine Tempest Sect. Although we have experienced peace for the last century, we can not expect it forever. The Golden Serpent Empire will soon expand down here and we must resist successfully or stay hidden with the other sects.” The patriarch finally gave his ultimatum, setting the trial to merely less than an hour later.
“Patriarch, if I may… I believe that we should conduct the trial tomorrow. These two have just travelled a long way from the branch sect and have been cultivating all day and all night for the past fortnight. We should give them time to relax before heading into the Elder’s Trial.” Wu Zhong suggested.
“Hmmm… Elder Wu, you are right. Having two tired people attempt the trail would be suicide. Assign them a mansion to stay in-”
“If I may… I would appreciate it if I could not share the same abode as Sister Tian.” Simon quickly interjected, noticing a chance to have a house to himself.
“A small matter. Assign a mansion for each of them. Show them that the Divine Tempest Sect is the most hospitable sect in the immortal world. No other sect can compare in terms of home entertainment and style. As the leading sect in terms of comfort, we pride ourselves in providing only the best for our disciples, deacons and elders. No other sect can compare, their best abodes are not as good as our branch sect’s condos.”
“Thank you, patriarch.” Simon bowed and clasped his hands.
“Rest well and prepare yourselves for the trial. The elders will be watching closely, so do not embarrass us with a poor performance.” The patriarch nodded his head, signalling for Wu Zhong to guide Simon and Blue out.
“Do we really get a mansion each? This is so amazing! Although… I would prefer it if I could just live with~” Blue was suddenly cut off.
“No, you need space to cultivate. Same as me. Just stay in your mansion and come by if you need genuine help.
