Surviving In My Novel - Chapter 123
“Lu, I think we have too much money…” Yu gestured towards a huge hoard of gold that they had just plundered from a bandit camp.
“How are we even supposed to spend it all? I don’t think anyone wants to by any of those stupid robes, I would rather stub my toe against Shu’s flip flop than wear a robe.” Lu smirked. Currently, the trio were still wearing the clothes that they entered the world in. Yu was wearing standard hiking gear with some plates of armour fastened on. Lu was wearing a camouflaged green coat over his matte black b.r.e.a.s.tplate, and Shu was wearing a singlet and board shorts, complete with a pair of flip flops, sunglasses and a bucket hat.
“Shu, what do you think we should do with all of this? There’s no use in keeping it all. There are only three of us and like a million gold coins to split.”
“I think we should use all of this money to build us a more permanent residence. I am sick of sleeping in a tent every night. Why not just make a house out of gold and put it in our spatial storage. As for the rest? We can just use it to buy some home entertainment devices for our new house. What do you guys think?” Shu explained this all on a chalkboard. While he did not find it difficult to sleep in a tent, he still found it less than comfortable. At the very least, he would like to sleep under a hard roof and with a proper space for himself to actually sleep.
“Okay, we can paint the outside green and cover it in leaves, but the sindie will be pure gold just for the sake of it. We are going to have the best hut in the world!”
“Alright, I agree. I hate sleeping in the tent as much as you.” Lu agreed without any resistance. In truth, he suffered from lack of sleep because of muddy water flowing from the bottom of the tent to his face. While he was able to move, he still found it very irritating to sleep.
“I support the idea too.” Yu had already put together a melting pot and a mould.
“This is great! If we put all our efforts together, we can finish this by the end of the day!”
And that was exactly what they did. For an entire day, the YuLuShu brothers melted gold coins and made them into bricks. One by one, the bricks came into place, almost resembling a structure by midday. Since they started in the morning, the building ended around midnight. By which time, the house looked like a modular hut with space for three of them to sleep. This of course included built in bed frames.
However, they were not able to build any toilets or kitchen, which would come later when they procure the items at town. For now, they would just do those things outside and hope it doesn’t rain. As long as they could live healthily, it did not matter too much for them.
“Hey, Shu, I think I hear screams in the distance.” Lu began feeling a sense of fright upon hearing very distant echoes of screaming individuals.
“Yeah, speaking of which… I heard that people have begun avoiding the area early the Wind Demonic Sect. Apparently they began attacking disciples of a mysterious sect that no one knows the true name of and now they have suffered astronomically high casualties at the hands of a cunning General. It is said that the general planted countless hidden traps in that section of the forest and left his men on trees to ambush the demonic sect’s people.”
“So I wouldn’t worry about those screams. Those demonic sect people probably deserve it. Who asked them to sacrifice people to demons? That’s just wrong.” Yu commented feeling disgusted.
“At least Master never made people use others as sacrifices for himself. Master is much higher class than those mere demons. He is a devil that can make a demon call him daddy!”
“Hush, Master would not be so vulgar as to ask a demon to call him ‘daddy’” Shu gabe Yu a stern warning.
“Master is not that type of person. He would make the demon submit and then convince the demon to kill itself for its sins. Master is much smarter than we can comprehend. He could probably defeat a demon by looking at it.” Lu commented with a wise expression.
“I agree! Master is so wise that he must have devised a million different methods to defeat evil beings! I would not be surprised if Master sold the trap making method to the General for use in this small scale war. Such a terrifying strategy must be the work of master. Even Core Formation warriors have been killed by the traps.”
“Such an amazing strategy must be the work of a brilliant mastermind indeed! This person must be extremely charismatic and cunning. They must be able to teach people very quickly. They also must be someone that knows how to deal with large amounts of enemies without putting themselves at risk. The general must be receiving the help of our master! We must go find them!” Lu used some questionable reasoning and logic to reach this conclusion. Naturally, any brilliant person must be linked to their master. Their master is just so brilliant after all.
“Onwards-”
“No. We are sleeping. We can look for the general after we finish resting. I would rather not fall down a cliff because of me fainting from prolonged sleep deprivation. How would I face master if he knew that I can’t even master proper sleeping habits? I would be an embarrassment of a disciple. I would have to strip myself of my discipleship and live a life of shame.” Lu reasoned. At this point, the three had very exaggerated views of Simon. Although for the most part their views were sort of true, they were still exaggerated nonetheless.
“Fine. Everyone, off to bed.”
‘The main camp’:
“Hey, Jack!” Tyrone came out of a wooden house and called out to a still training Jack. It was now midnight and Jack was still outside, swinging his sword without rest. An aura of pressure surrounded him as Qi was rapidly s.u.c.k.e.d into his very being.
“Ty, You can go to sleep now. I am just training so I don’t fall behind the YuLuShu brothers.”
“Why don’t you rest instead? Working nonstop won’t help you in the long run. Bro, just take some good time to sleep and you will not regret it. It’s better to train at full capacity than train when you are completely empty.”
“I guess you’re right.” Jack put away his sword and tiredly came in with Tyrone to their wooden house.
Meanwhile, nothing much was happening for the rest of the camp. Light had broken through to Core Formation a day ago and had locked himself in a room to consolidate his new power. Same went for Lenn and Coliart. They too had recently broken through to the fabled realm that was beyond Devil Magic. As such, the main group gained a few more powerful protectors to help them survive in this relatively weak starting area. At the very least, they would be able to destroy bandits if they ever attack.
Malece managed to progress the most out of everyone, reaching the 6th layer of Core Formation after working very hard and following instructions that Simon had left for her a month ago. While not yet stepping into Nascent Soul, she was fairly confident that she could stand up to most people in the area.
As for the disciples, the most noteworthy people of the bunch would be Tyrone, Jack and Mu. While the rest of the Haven kids were training at incredibly fast paces, they still fell slightly behind the likes of those three. Tyrone had already achieved the 5th layer of Foundation Building, while Jack had achieved the 7th. Likewise, Mu had also managed to achieve the 7th layer just today. As such, Mu was left sleeping the entire day in Tyrone and Jack’s house.
On top of training and collecting necessities, the group was still looking around for any signs of Simon. Because of the vast expanses of the forest, it made it incredibly hard to track down anyone, but they felt confident that they would eventually find something.
This confidence would be rewarded the morning after, when they finally received a tip.
“Are you sure that the old man said that a man so beautiful that the world would topple had appeared in that small city we’ve been going to? How come we didn’t see him?” Malece asked.
“Mistress, the old man said that the beautiful fairy man had left nearly an entire month ago.” Simon explained.
“I see. It is definitely him.”
