Surviving In My Novel - Chapter 72
Breaking through towards the 6th rank was a terribly difficult task for Simon. Using a combination of methods, Simon completely restructured his plethora of power, turning it into a core within his own body. The core itself was not of any significance to breaking through, but it did speed up the process by leaps and bounds. Although only possessing slightly above average talent, Simon bypassed many problems with only the advantage of his mind, reversing his fate into something spectacular.
With the bodily foundations of a war machine and the technique of a killing god, Simon had pushed himself past his primary limits, becoming something that could grow infinitely. Although he may be pushed back by his talent, he will never remain at the same point forever. Somehow Simon will find a way to progress through his memories and processing power. In his own novel, he will not be chained by his own rules, he is above them.
‘Legacy core…this is the first time I have condensed one. Not even when I was professor White, did I have enough time to do that. This is completely new to me…I don’t even know what the core does yet. There is no indication that I can find out until I try it out.’
‘How did I break through? Luck? No.’
‘I finally developed it.’
As to what Simon developed, who knows? He might as well give up his final card if he says so much, such a secret would be better to take to his grave and burn along with him…although, he will not need a grave.
“Little darling, it is time for you to leave for the academy.” Malece spoke with a hint of disappointment. Seeing him about to leave, Malece felt like she want him to stay. Although an ant in front of her, she had grown rather fond of her little husband. Without him in the Palace, she felt that she would lose a part of her. In contrast, Simon had no such feelings of attachment, he was happy to leave. Although a nice and homely abode, Simon wished to run away from Malece, anything to rid him of the unwanted burden of that night.
“Dear wife, I will now take my leave.” Simon said with a grin.
‘Shame that I will have to return.’
“Did you pack your-”
“Yes, I have already applied the paste to my horns and I have more than enough for my tenure at the academy. I will now lea-”
“Do you love me?” Malece interrupted with a slight blush.
“No.”
“Not even a slight pulse of your heart when you see me?”
“Never. You have cursed me to be unable to enjoy the warmth of a woman’s body and the warmth of love. Goodbye.”
“Simonifirac Crypts, son of Karlus. You have recently attained the 4th rank, very good! I will guide you to the sparring hall.” A young guide quickly pulled through Simon’s information.
“What about lectures?”
“You have automatically passed theory, did your benefactor not tell you? There is a note that says you have already fulfilled the academy requirements for theory. Since the art of war is much more important, a benefactor can never wave a student’s responsibility to complete the course. That would ruin the point of attending Blood Academy.” The young guide respectfully explained.
Blood Academy, the mirror image of Haven. In the Devil World, Blood Academy exists to produce the finest devils for the purpose of strengthening the entirety of devildom. Through the power of the headmaster, Blood Academy has produced many fine devils and all of the Divas were once students in the academy. Much like Haven, the same rules applied, except for the subject of killing. If one was strong enough, they can challenge another to a duel of life and death. The winner must always kill the loser, that is the law of the duel. Mercy is not afforded to you by the enemy, and neither should you afford the same to the enemy.
A brutally realist upbringing.
“We have arrived. Take this keycard for when you want to enter your private quarters, the keycard has a guidance magic engraved into it, so finding your quarters will be as easy as breathing. Also, beware of the Tusks. Those sc.u.m tend to pick out freshlings with potential and try to poach or kill them. I advise caution when handling them, their leader is of the 5th rank.” The guide warned with a slightly uncomfortable look. Standing next to the door to the sparring room, the Simon nodded his head to the guide and entered with a relaxed demeanour.
Even if the leader is a 6th rank, Simon could make them suffer. He knew many different ways to make use of VP and gain control of the situation, even if he did not have a higher rank, he would not be the one to lose. He had already mastered every single technique he had procured from the shop as Professor White, now he could easily outmanoeuvre almost any foe. But for now, Simon felt more reserved.
‘I need a body strengthening technique. I would rather not die from a single hit from someone of the 8th rank.’
If he needed something, Simon would either buy it or create it. Buying a technique will always land Simon with useless junk that would become irrelevant after a few ranks, but creating a technique through his knowledge usually results in miracles. Although, such miracles take too much time to plan and he had already calculated that a suitable body strengthening technique would take at least an entire month to formulate. A month simply felt too long for Simon, he is patient, but he does not like moving inefficiently.
‘I will develop a technique by rebuilding my dead cells over and over again. Only through constant pain and suffering can I find a way to temper my body. It has worked in the past, so why can it not work now?’
[Goal: Create a Mid-Heaven tier body strengthening technique]
‘Challenge accepted.’
