Surviving Zombies One Day At Time - Volume 1 Chapter 76 75. Little Monkey
He was already ten years and not light, but Jenny already gained strength and it was not hard for her to carry him.
Commander Jones offered to help her, but she shook her head. “Don’t worry, I can handle this. The shield… I will finish when I get him to my RV.”
She saw Brianna waiting for her and shook her head. “Can we speak tomorrow? I have literally full hands right now. Please.”
Brianna was curious about the strange kid in Jenny’s hands, but shrugged. She will stay for two more days. There is time. “Tomorrow it is. I’ll come yo visit you. What place are you staying in?”
Jenny pointed at Commander Jones. “He can send someone to bring you to me. I’ll cook something nice. Be there for lunch.”
Brianna just nodded and saw Jenny carefully carrying a sleeping boy and going down. Lunch? She will cook?
Jenny had no time for Brianna’s complicated thoughts. She rushed back and saw Alex and Tyra staring at her in surprise. With a smile, she rushed them into the car. “We can talk back home. ”
They understood and let two soldiers drive them back to their RV. So when she came back, a group of people rushed to greet her and were in wonder as they saw her carrying a boy that was almost stuck to her body.
Jenny sighed. “You slept enough. Stop pretending.”
The boy signed. But as he opened his eyes he got stunned by a bunch of people that stared at him in amus.e.m.e.nt. “What’s funny?”
Kala came forward and pointed at his posture. “You look like a monkey. Let mama go. Aren’t you too big to be carried around? Or should I treat you as you were younger than me?”
Tarik realized what happened and quickly tried to get down but almost fell down and Jenny had to place him on his feet carefully. “Stop wiggling.”
She turned him around and smiled. “Everyone, this is Tarik. Tarik, this is my family and crew. Everyone, take good care of him while I use the bike to drive out of the town. Tyra, Alec, Latisha and Stuart are coming with me. The rest prepare food.” Even tho she had the shield as protection, if she goes alone, she might attract bothersome people.
“Yes.” Almost uniformly they answered and rushed to take care of their duties.
Jacob smiled at Tarik and pointed at their RV. “Come, its time for cooking. What do you like to eat?”
Tarik was baffled by the inside. Even the size of kitchen would be bigger than outside appearance. What kind of magic is this?
Kala pointed at fresh fruits that stood on the table. “Eat some. Soon will be dinner so don’t eat too much. And don’t worry, we gave enough of it.”
He took the fruits and enjoyed every tiny bit. “This is amazing. They taste so fresh. Did you find some trees that survived?”
“Something similar. When the time comes, you will know. Now help us prepare.” Roy came inside and with help of Florian and Clarence they prepared a sumptuous meal.
Jacob, Kala, Steven and Tarik went out to prepare foldable tables, chairs, table cloth and even nicely arranged tableware.
As Kala even added some pretty details he couldn’t stop a chuckle. “Are we celebrating something?”
Kala blinked at him. “Mother said we don’t need to eat like messy people if we can have nice meals. She told me if I like arranging, I can do that. Next time you can add your ideas. Jacob once turned the whole table into the cinema experience and each of us ate while watching movies.”
“Wow.” Tarik turned his head and rose both thumbs up.
“If you have some doable ideas, we will prepare it soon. Tomorrow is a real party. Mom plans to barbeque. Trust me, you will love it.” Jacob already imagined what he would eat. “Sausages, steak, burgers, veggies…oh so many things!!!”
Steven started laughing. “Hey. Uncle Roy prepared meat today, are you already thinking about meat tomorrow?”
Jacob chimed into the laughter. “Oh well, there is no such thing as too much. Right?”
Tarik could only agree as he was not sure what will happen in the future. Eating now meat is fine. After all, it will rot anyway. Better than wasting it. “Exactly. Eating food you like is a good thing.”
They felt sorry for him as they heard his words. What kind of life it is now, they all knew. They knew as well that they could have food on their table only because of Jenny, so they felt even more grateful.
They could see Tarik’s lost expression and chose to cheer him up somehow.
