Surviving Zombies One Day At Time - Volume 1 Chapter 8 Learning How To Kill
She almost cursed when she saw a room filled with dozen of zombies that turned their heads toward her. The first urge she had was to press the closing button and just rush back up. But then she took the two guns and started shooting at them wildly.
After all, they still walked like puppets and couldn’t even approach her on time because they stumbled on those that were already shot dead. Her face was covered in sweat as she shot the whole round of bullets and then swiftly started another round of shooting. Soon she killed them all while heaving like she has run for miles or lifted heavyweights.
After doing this multiple times she got used to just stab the chest area take open up, stuff her hand inside and just search with her hands for stones. She found it faster than trying to carve the heart out. It took to much time.
So while she cut the stones out, she couldn’t hear one person slowly walking towards her and when he almost touched her she turned around and looked how he literally bit her hand. But a strange thing happened. It didn’t hurt her.
The moment he tasted her blood, he released her and he tried to run away while his body started burning and he soon turned into a heap of ashes with just small stone in mid.
”What was this?” She looked her ripped protective gear and just shook her head. After rising the sleeve up she saw with the n.a.k.e.d eye how her wounds closed rapidly, leaving not even a scar. At fists, he had no idea how she should react, but the strange idea popped up.
She took the mask off, the gear was already ripped open and her blood was sprayed all over it. After filling the whole bag with the stones she took a knife and dropped a few drops of her blood on each of the bodies and they literally just turned into a pile of ash.
After that, she opened the door towards the stairway and slowly went up.
Her heart shook as she heard growling of the zombies on stairs. In complete silence, that sound echoed, multiplied and scared her even more. Her guns were loaded and she should be ready, right?
But somehow she just couldn’t go up. In the entryway, she wildly shot not even looking. But now she didn’t have the other choice than to shoot and kill.
But then another thought came to her mind. What if she brings them down and slowly kills them one by one? She looked at the reception and found a phone.
She turned alarm on with the strongest and loudest music and set it on the opposite wall. Then she rushed to the elevator and stood inside. When the alarm went on she can hear things tumbling down the staircase and after a while, first stiff corpses passed her.
She stopped the urge to shoot and closed the door. When the elevator stopped on the fifth level she already was prepared to shoot. Luckily just a few of them were there.
At first, they moved towards her but then stiffly tried to move away and tried to avoid her. This time she knew there was something strange with her and chose to courageously step out.
After killing them, discarding their bodies and taking their stones, she went down and started killing a couple of dozen people from close proximity.
When she finished all and held a bunch of the stones in her hands she laughed ironically. The world changed and now as it seems she did as well.
She looked through the closed safety doors and saw in front of her building hundreds of zombies. She swallowed a couple of the stones, now not even disgusted anymore and went straight to the crowd that seems had some invisible command to walk away.
Under the stunned eyes of people on top of the next building, they could see a small woman just standing in front of the building while all zombies in her surroundings walked away.
She looked up and realized how good her eyesight became as she now could see them standing. Actually, her phone was on silent so she wouldn’t be their target. But now she used it.
“Mike?” Her voice was calm and steady when she called him. “Could you put me on speaker so your people can hear me as well.”
“I did, you can speak now.” He was worried about her she knew and was grateful.
“Hi everyone. By now you probably know who I am so I will not introduce myself. As you can see there is something weird about me. I do not know how long this will last, will the zombies continue being stiff like that or will more things change.” Her steady voice made them listen to her words intently.
“I plan to go save a family of my close friend that is stuck on the other side of the city. I want to use this thing on me, this ability as long it lasts to go. So I will need your help for a second. I need a volunteer to come out and stand by my side. To see is my ability string to protect a group of people as well. If it is, we will be able to make some stuff until this thing lasts. We can set up base here, save more people and eradicate brunch of these at least in our neighborhood. Will you help me?” Her voice stopped and she waited for answers.
Jenny could hear Mike’s voice a moment later. ” I am willing. We were anyway preparing to start clearing up the buildings in the neighborhood. Wait outside the building. Will be right there.”
She just hung up and walked straight to the huge crowd of people. But like with magic hand the path opened and now she could see clearly the parameter of her ability.
