Sustaining The King’s Life - Chapter 236
Lilianne had the most pleasant dream. In her dream, she was sitting on the throne beside the king. And kneeling before her was Ezekiel Unsterblich. In her dream, she had two men wrapped in her finger and she was the most beautiful of Feuersturm. And so when that dream was over, Lilianne couldn’t possibly feel more annoyed… or that was what she would be, initially.
However, the moment she opened her eyes and saw that she was in a luxurious, unknown room, Lilianne felt that her dream was slowly coming to reality.
So it was real. The king had actually gone to Magierstadt; and under the moonlight, he caught her into his arms. It was something straight out of a fairytale, and for the first time in Lilianne’s life, she felt so special. No one in this world could experience that.
Was that fate?
She can’t be mistaken. His platinum-blond hair and sapphire blue eyes were too vibrant under the full moon. He was so beautiful. There was no way that could be a dream—because this place looks exactly like the chambers in a castle. Large, spacious, and luxurious.
Maids then entered the chambers and bowed down to Lilianne.
“Am I in Feuersturm’s castle?”
“Yes you are, My Lady.” The maids answered in chorus.
Lilianne wanted to squeal.
The king did bring her with him!
“Let me see the dresses he prepared for me.”
The girl in the middle, which Lilianne guessed as the head maid, then clapped her hand, gesturing the maids to get the dress.
Lilianne’s lips curved into a smile as she sees a beautiful red dress that was ridden with rubies.
How much did Feuersturm research on the types of dresses she desires?
They are exactly on point.
“Not bad,” Lilianne said, crossing her arms. “So, am I going to see the king?”
The maids then looked at each other.
“You will be sent to your home after breakfast.” The head maid said. “The king will be sending gifts for—”
“No, Lilianne crossed her arms. “That’s it? If it’s dresses and jewelry, I have tons of them. What I want isn’t something like that but his presence.”
Lilianne knows that these maids knew she was going to become the future empress… so they should be more considerate and know their places. That is the safest route to take. But Lilianne could also see that they are struggling over something—like they are hiding something from her.
“Aren’t I allowed to see the king?”
He looked healthy. There is no way such a frail man would be able to have that kind of body. The only reason Lilianne could think of is the king’s lack of interest in her, or… “is there another woman in here?”
The maids behind the head maid flinched and then silenced.
“Huh. So that’s the case.”
Lilianne Disfiegro was known to the high society for her grace and her fierceness. She had sabotaged all the women who displayed interest to Ezekiel Unsterblich. For sure, she would do the same to the king.
And that is certain—because she had already seen him.
Such a beautiful man.
If she had two men by her side, then what else can she ask for? She will be the happiest woman in Zuerst, and no one will dare to cross her because she will bear the heir to the one who will be the next king. The Disfiegros will then gain more power through her.
She wouldn’t let a stupid noble girl fool around his majesty.
“I am not going home yet. Send my regards to my family that I’ll be staying in this castle for a while.”
“But My Lady—”
Lilianne stood up and then slapped the head maid.
The maids gasped, and the head maid froze.
“Is the king that discourteous towards his future queen? I let him have his way without even meeting me a single time before. But now I won’t let this pass.”
The maids knew how much influence Lilianne holds over high society. If word got out how the king was a horrible man who kicked her out of the castle, then it’ll create a butterfly effect—and that butterfly effect will, for sure, will not equate to a good thing. People may use that against the king and the repercussions will trigger events that will not be good for the king… and the maids who are all tight-lipped knew what the king of Feuersturm had been keeping in the castle walls.
“V-very well, My Lady…” The head maid murmured, bowing down. “We will do as you ordered. Girls, prepare the bath. I shall inform the king at once.”
“No.” Lilianne narrowed her eyes. “The king will only avoid me once he knows I’m staying.”
“So,” Lilianne then smirked, “let’s give him a little surprise.”
The head maid’s eyes widened. “But—”
Lilianne slapped her once more. She then caressed her sore hand from the slap. “You don’t learn, do you?”
The head maid bit her lips. The king has to know—or else Lady Lilianne will know that the king is together with—”no maid will come out of this room as I say so. All of you, help me bathe.”
The head maid sighed.
She had to prepare for the worse later.
**
Faustina’s heartbeat was loud against her chest. She… did she just… “did I just talk back to Sheila?”
Faustina collapsed to the bed, and then she squealed silently.
She did it! She finally talked back! It took her so much courage, but at least she was able to do it. Faustina then blinked as she turned to her bed, sniffing the scent out.
That’s right… “I miss you, bed,” she murmured through the sheet. This used to be her room back when she was still staying here at the castle. She smiled as she turned towards the ceiling.
It’s been a while since she’s in Feuersturm.
So far… it feels like she was home.
Faustina immediately sat down as she hears the chamber door opening. And as she sees who it was, she immediately brightened up.
“Maddie!”
Faustina ran towards Maddie who now entered the room. “You’re here!” she said, hugging her.
“M’lady!” Maddie hugged her back. “How are you? Are you doing well? The dukedom sent me here because they said you’re going to take a week break here in the king’s castle…” Maddie sniffed with tears on her eyes. “Lord Orwell will also arrive soon.”
Faustina was glad that Maddie was here with her. She hugged her tight.
And as they parted, Maddie then beamed. “Oh! Right! I came here because it’s time for breakfast. Apparently, the king’s asking for you,”
Faustina blinked.
“The king?”
“It seems like the two of you are having breakfast together!” Maddie squealed. “I still don’t know why you’re in the castle instead of the dukedom, but…”
“M’lady!” Maddie held both of Faustina’s hands. “You should pick your husband wisely!”
“…What?”
“Ezekiel Unsterblich is a good pick, but being the queen of Feuersturm is another thing!”
“Wait, what?”
“I mean basically your father is the king’s uncle… but that’s only by name since the Feuerkrieger line and the Feuerlon line has too thin blood in them, so you aren’t really relatives…”
Faustina blinked as she stares at Maddie whose hand was at her chin as she looks up, as if to think.
“Ah. But still, even if the king fancies you, he’s still engaged to…” Maddie then snapped from her muttering. “I’m sorry, M’lady. Shall we go?”
Faustina then chuckled as they got out of the room. Suddenly Faustina was feeling nostalgic as she walked into Feuersturm castle’s hallway. It still feels like yesterday since she had first arrived in the castle.
This just speaks of how far she has come.
Faustina could feel it—Eula. She was this close to getting her back… along with the truth that she was seeking.
Not long after, Faustina neared the dining hall of the castle. She was wearing a light purple, and beautiful yet simple dress with her hair down and kept together by a black ribbon. Faustina stared at Maddie who was beside her.
This was her first time eating breakfast with the king.
Faustina shook her head. No, she shouldn’t be nervous over trivial things. She took a deep breath and with chin held high she entered the dining room…
Only to see someone who wasn’t the king.
She had a beautiful dress as red as ruby and jewelry that spoke of luxury and riches. She was breathtakingly beautiful, and her smile—which the people said to be as precious as a jewel—then vanished the moment she sees Faustina.
“You…” Lilianne Disfiegro raised her brow. “What are you doing here?”
This was completely unexpected. Faustina parted her lips to say something, but then, Lilianne’s expression changed as she stood from her seat.
“Your majesty!”
Faustina slowly turned around, seeing the king in his full glory; his sapphire blue eyes looking at Faustina, and then to Lilianne.
“I’ve been waiting for you,” Lilianne sweetly exclaimed. “My fiancé.”
