Sustaining The King’s Life - Chapter 275
275: Pieces of Her Broken Gem
The forsaken gritted his teeth. There was no way that he would die in here. He had come this far.
“Generals!”
Arriving on the castle grounds are the warlock generals.
Greed, Pride, Wrath, and L.u.s.t.
While Envy, Gluttony and Sloth…
“Are you looking for these things?”
The forsaken’s eyes widened as the severed head of a black-haired plump girl rolled towards him. Her eyes were opened like a dead fish’s, and she smelled foul.
Duke Feuerlon emotionlessly wiped his sword.
“I know she’s not dead yet.” He said. “I have yet to kill her essence. But what will she do in that state?”
Faustina then turned to the other one who arrived.
“Killing has been long our forte,” said a blond-haired man. “Their essence isn’t located in their body. I should know; I killed two of them!”
“Tone it down, Feuerfalke.” Said duke Feuerlon, “the battle isn’t over.”
The forsaken slowly backed away.
“Handle this,” he said to his generals before he disappeared.
–meanwhile…
“Do you really think you can handle me, boy?” Said Lilith as she walked towards the king of Feuersturm. “Don’t you know who I am?” She said as she slowly raised her hands. Hellfire began to surround her; the skies then rumbled as the king braced himself of what was to come.
The world was now being engulfed by darkness and hellfire. The first king held onto his sword tightly.
“Rise, my children.” Said Lilith, “rise and wreak havoc in this land!”
Descending from the sky surrounded by the flames of hell were the warlocks who held their dark staves and brought a swarm of moths and monsters with them.
The king’s expression did not waver.
“Final spell of the Opus.” He chanted. “Divine retribution.”
Lilith’s eyes widened as a giant clocklike seal appeared behind the king.
The king slowly raised his gaze, sapphire blue eyes gleaming.
“This…”
Appearing before them are the souls.
The souls of the eight kings of Feuersturm!
Octavius.
Julius.
Sirius.
Heinrich.
Friedrich.
Erich.
Roderich.
“It is time that we stop the prophecy,” said the kings in unison as they pointed their blade to Lilith.
**
Sheilalev stared atop the castle where a golden light flashed before all of them.
“It has started,” she exclaimed. Her robes were bloodied and tattered.
—
The dukes were now looking at the king of Feuersturm in awe.
The materialization of the souls of the king’s ancestors!
—
The summoned warlocks attacked the land; the souls of the eight kings proceeded to fight with great power that was a sight to behold, even for Lilith.
“You…” Lilith glared at the king who had faced her. “I will not allow darkness to plague this world.”
And as the king proceeded to slash Lilith, his sword was deflected by yet another blade.
“You will not hurt her,”
The king’s sapphire blue eyes glinted as they met red ones.
The forsaken.
The one who murdered his family!
The warlock generals continued to push on the offense at Faustina as she continued to create barriers to protect herself. Duke Feuerlon, Duke Feuerfalke, and Duke Feursoldat were aiding her in battle.
**
Everyone else was fighting. The royals of Zuerst who possessed the Opus. All of which had called upon their very final spell…
The divine retribution.
This was the final battle.
It was up to them to stop the prophecy.
All the fate of this world will lie on this battle. The fate of Zuerst.
The prince of Assiah looked down at the spectacle before him. He was at the castle tower where the forsaken established his new headquarters.
“Are you going to head there now?” He asked as he turned to the person who was in the darkest corner of the tower, holding a staff whose pattern was exclusive to those who belonged to his family. “Doing so will null your country’s neutral position.”
“The same goes for you,” he retorted. “Prince of Assiah.”
“How odd.” He said, “I thought you work alone.”
The man beside him averted his gaze. He had the same features as one of the warlock generals.
“The same goes for you.” Amethyst eyes glinted in the dark. “Aren’t you the person who is most likely the one who should stop us?”
The prince of Assiah narrowed his eyes.
“Let’s just say,” he said. “I already know that the prophecy cannot be stopped. Whatever that is aimed to stop it is futile.”
“So you’re saying that you believe we would not succeed?”
The prince of Assiah eyed Faustina.
“I’m just saying, as an old friend,” he murmured.
“Fate is a shackle… a shackle we will not break free from.”
**
Faustina held onto her staff tightly. The warlock generals were not stopping right here. She has to destroy their essence in order to get rid of them.
“This is your end, little girl!”
Faustina’s eyes widened as L.u.s.t casted a spell that Faustina had overlooked.
Faustina shut her eyes tight and tried to cover herself with her arms in reflex. But there was no blow dealt to her.
Instead, in front of her was the mana of a familiar person.
“Ezekiel!?”
“There’s no time to explain!” Ezekiel exclaim, “Concentrate your mana into the blade of the dagger and stab their c.h.e.s.t!” He said. “Their essence… is yours!”
Faustina’s eyes widened.
“What are you saying, boy!” L.u.s.t exclaimed, but she wasn’t able to chant yet another spell as another man attacked her from behind, slashing her back.
Anakin Disfiegro looked down at L.u.s.t who collapsed.
L.u.s.t, who had the face of his sister.
“Now, Faustina!” Anakin exclaimed.
Faustina clenched the dagger tightly as she rushed towards L.u.s.t.
She buried the dagger deep into L.u.s.t’s c.h.e.s.t, making her howl in pain.

A/N: There are only about 5 chapters left in Sustaining the king’s life. I still can’t believe that we are nearing the conclusion of this book. I will be leaving an artwork at the very finale, a parting gift to my dear readers who stayed with Faustina until the end.
Thank you so much for the support.
