Sustaining The King’s Life - Chapter 277
277: End of War
A little girl that was at her home, cowering in fear from the monsters, now came outside to see the spectacle of light that surrounded the entire world.
Descending from the skies were angels. Angels made of sheer light who rode horses and, giant birds of magnificent wings that are also materialized by light.
They began to sweep the darkness away, like a giant curtain that is being open for the blue skies.
“Is it… finally over?”
**
Underneath that, was the warriors of Zuerst who were all holding their weapons as their eyes fixate on the phenomena that could only be perceived, at that time, as a miracle.
The warlocks, and all entities of darkness, started to fade away from the light. The sea monsters drew back to the see, back to their deep slumber; as well as the remaining monsters were now killed by the warrior angels made of light.
Truly, this was something that was the work of someone powerful.
Orwell stared back at the castle.
And whoever that person is,
—
The monster melted away from the light as it slowly burned to a scorch. It left out a faint cry. The king of Feuersturm made haste as he rushed towards Faustina who had collapsed into the ground.
“Faustina!”
He held her tight. “Faustina!”
She was as cold as ice, and her face was pale.
“Faustina!”
Coming towards them was Ezekiel Unsterblich. He had a worried look on his face, and then as he saw Faustina’s face, his complexion went pale.
Ezekiel did not waste time. He immediately conjured a healing spell.
“Phoenix!” He called upon a familiar. “Heal her.”
“She’s… she’s rejecting elemental power…!” Ezekiel exclaimed.
The king clenched his fist as he held her closer into him. He leaned into her heart, trembling.
Hoping he would hear something.
Faint—
It was faint, but there was a heartbeat.
“Move over!”
Sheila rushed towards Faustina,
“She’s in a critical condition!” Sheila said. “Her body could not last here!”
“Then, to the province—” the king said.
“No!” Sheila shook her head. “She will die if she would set foot in Zuerst! Her body is rejecting elemental powers!”
The king’s eyes widened. “Then…”
“We’ll bring her to the place neutral of all magic.”
Sheila turned to the king.
“The place where the court and the council resides,” she said. “To Alte Stadt!”
**
Orwell couldn’t believe it. They really were able to fight the prophecy, but…
To what cost?
“The priestess and the king are headed towards Alte Stadt,” said Lucas Feuerlon.
“Alte Stadt? The ancient city?”
Lucas nodded. “It seems like Faustina is in a critical condition.”
Lucas then walked away from Orwell.
“Lucas, wait—”
“Lord Lotheringwood!”
Orwell turned to the person who spoke. Through his cracked spectacle, he saw a rather familiar yet unexpected presence.
“Ezekiel?! What are you doing in here?”
“I came here to help Faustina destroy the general’s essence.”
Orwell stared at Ezekiel, who was also roughed up in battle. He was meaning to ask more questions, but it could come later. Because there were more important thing at hand.
“The king and the priestess definitely have access to Alte Stadt,” said Ezekiel, “but I…”
Orwell patted Ezekiel’s shoulder.
“Right now, we need to aid the people in here.” Orwell said. “There are those who are injured and needs our help.”
Ezekiel nodded. “You’re right.”
—
Ezekiel knew that Orwell was just trying to convince himself too. To force himself to stop worrying.
But like Orwell, Ezekiel couldn’t stop worrying. He then ran towards Anakin, who then ran to Lilianne who had collapsed to the floor.
“Lily!”
Ezekiel immediately summoned phoenix who began healing Lilianne immediately.
It seems that all darkness have faded from her, and her soul wasn’t corrupted anymore.
Slowly, Lilianne opened her eyes.
“Bro..ther?”
“Lilly!”
Anakin hugged his sister tight. She was alive. Even though he had helped Faustina into stabbing L.u.s.t, the one who corrupted Lilianne’s body…
“It’s indeed a miracle.” Ezekiel exclaimed.
It was enough for Anakin to cipher, because it was the same thing of what he was thinking about.
“Brother… Ezekiel? What happened?”
Ezekiel smiled.
“It’s nothing, Lilly.” He said. “Go back to sleep.”
—
Lilianne Disfiegro, along with the many people who are injured, are taken back to Zuerst for the clairvoyants and healers to tend to their wounds.
As from the people of Zweite, they were being held custody by the royals of Zuerst.
“Prince of Assiah, Saskia,” said Ezekiel, “has been in your side all along.”
“What?”
“It’s true.” The prince said. “I have been helping Zuerst in the shadows. Ezekiel Unsterblich and Anakin Disfiegro can attest to that.”
–flashback
“Oh. In exchange of being the king of Assiah, and the supreme ruler of Zweite, you want me to back you up and aid your escape in Magierstadt?”
“Yes.” Ezekiel said. “That is what I can promise you, as the next schoolmaster of the most powerful magician nation, Magierstadt.”
“Very well then.” The sixth prince of Assiah smiled. “I accept.”
**
The battle has been dealt with immediately, but there were still the remnants of all destruction. It would take a while before things would go to normal.
But until then,
Everyone will recover from all of the chaos. As there was a saying there would be a rainbow after the rain, there is also healing after the war.
It was already nighttime.
The king held her hand as she slept.
“Faustina…” he whispered as he held her hand to his forehead.
“Please… come back to me.”
