Sweet CEO’s First Love - Chapter 42
Saint snarled and took a sharp breath, even he was surprised at how sharp, clear, and demanding it had come off.
The first thing he had spoken since they arrived in the room for their face off and his voice had echoed with power more subtle and demanding than Ngeun could ever possess.
It didn’t exude pressure or anger, just a steady, calm power that beat down on the room, oppressive in its demand to be paid attention to.
Because Saint had used that same voice, he had seen his grandfather use all those years ago. The same voice his grandma used; a voice that commanded subservience and repentance.
“Odd, you have been watching me for such a long time father, I would have assumed you were smarter than this.”
Saint walked up to the table, then pulled out a chair. Each one the last time he was here, had been like a mini throne, and he reveled in the fact that his father had extra chairs brought in with the other thrones taken away.
‘How childish and petty.’
Saint fell onto the stool gracefully, then crossed his legs.
He rolled up his sleeves very gently and waited.
The soft clicking of shoes sounded on the marble flooring, and he held back a smirk as he recognized their weight and girth as Kits.
He didn’t even have to look back to know, since Ngeun’s face seethed with aggravation.
“You may be my past, you may be the reason for why I am the way I am, but you don’t have to be the cause of my choices for my future.”
“I am not, because of the blood that created me.”
“And I deserve to have all of this. You can’t make me feel guilty anymore for what you did to mom. And I am not afraid that I am next anymore.”
Ngeun’s eyes narrowed.
“Your mother? What does she have to do with?..”
“I know she was the by-product of your own fruitless attempts to get this company. I know you are responsible for many deaths from that night. I finally have proof.”
Saint pulled out a folder from the waiting briefcase and smacked it down on the gold marble table top. Their deep chocolate veins were a thick contrast to the stark cream of the folder.
“Do you want to see what’s inside?” Saint scoffed dangerously.
“I could open it and we could discuss it here. But I have a feeling you might lose your lunch.”
“Do you even know the consequences of your own actions?” Saint asked dangerously.
“See my friend Seungwoo, he runs the top advertising agency in the world. They have countless resources, and it didn’t take much to find an enemy of yours with a little dirt on you, who was waiting to throw you under the bus.”
Seungwoo waved very slowly, zero emotion on his face whatsoever.
Saint had to give him props for handling this entire thing really well, but he supposed Seungwoo understood him better than anyone ever could. Since they were in very similar predicaments.
Ngeun reached out and slammed his hand atop of Saint’s on top of the folder. His eyes danced back and forth with glee at the terror in everyone else’s face as a slow, wicked grin broke his face into this motley of misplaced emotions.
“Did you think, a pretty little folder like this would scare me? Do you think I can’t already refute anything that has to do with your mother’s car accident or any other accident I needed to make happen to make certain people go away?”
“I did what I did for me to be happy.” He laughed hollowly, his head, threw back, and the low methodical sound felt eery and grating. The worst sound you could hear for a laugh, unnaturally calm, zero inflection, and almost with an echo of all the pain, he had caused.
“But I know you will do nothing with this. So why even bother playing your cards. Just like the little child you are, you are still flailing around splashing loudly while a shark swims below you in the deep end without a sound.”
Saint smiled, unable to look away from the poison inside that gaze.
“Oh, I am not flailing, I am flexing. Like the proud little peacock, I am. See Heart is Mine, Kit is Mine, Seungwoo is Mine, everything you see here is Mine. I am the rightful owner of it. You are just an unhappy thief who is running out of capital and has been scraping by with what your second-rate family can provide you.”
“I can lend you some capital dearest, dad. See, I just closed a one hundred and sixty million dollar deal with Eagle Eye Construction; landed the biggest advertising agency in the world as top clientele.”
The announced merger is really blowing up all around the world. The fact that we conducted a large scale deal like this, completely, on the hush, it has the whole world abuzz.
“Oh, and Prin likes Heart he met him the other day when we went to Phuket, he even told me to never fear what others feel about your love.”
“He is a wise old man, with many words that should be heeded. He told me something I quite like.”
“It is not up to others to define what you feel, but rather, up to you how you will let their definitions of your own insecurities shape the path of your life.”
“What do you fear Dad?”
“See for years, I walked on eggshells, trying to do this all alone, but I didn’t need to follow after you and be alone. I just needed good people by my side. You can’t use me being gay, or mother’s death circumstances to manipulate me with fear. Because I am not afraid of you.”
“I don’t care, because I am not letting anyone shape my path, but me anymore.”
“Seems to me like you spent years, fearing an old man and a little boy. But the little boy is all grown up, I don’t need your approval, and I don’t need to feel ashamed of what I am or who I love. Because I have nothing to be ashamed of.”
“A petty murderer and a thief like you is not someone I have time to spare a moment longer for any more.”
“However, I do hope you enjoy reading all about my merger, from prison, I think you will be very proud of the man I have become… Not that it will make one bit of difference to me.”
“Oh, and when I told grandfather the news, he patted me on the back and told me how proud he was that I had handled things in the proper Nitpattanasai way.”
Ngeun’s eyes flashed with anger, he seethed under the weight of the words and Saint’s threw a backward glance to check on how Heart was doing who had stood next to his side through the entire thing.
He looked outwardly calm, but Saint had a feeling inside, he was one hundred percent a ball of nerves.
Saint made a motion with his hands, and three men stepped out from the shadows of the archways.
“You can come with us peacefully, or if you prefer, we can put you in cuffs.” One said to Ngeun.
Ngeun slid the strawberry covered in chocolate into his mouth, and Saint watched him choke on the sweet juices. Something wonderfully delectable probably filled him with nothing more than bitter feelings right now.
He stood up with every bit of dignity he could cling to.
“That folder means nothing, I have friends in prominent places.” Ngeun hissed.
“Oh, I know, you can have this one. It’s just a copy anyway, I learned long ago to never trust you with anything valuable to me.
Ngeun glared at him, but stood with all the dignity he could muster and walked out of the restaurant with his head held high, all three men trailing behind him.
Saint leaned back into his plain chair, his eyes glancing at the throne with it’s plush velvety seating and it’s empty, hollow feeling. But getting up and sitting in the place that was rightfully his, held no importance to him.
Saint popped a salmon, cheese, cracker in his mouth, and enjoyed as the rich flavors burst and rolled around his mouth.
Heart looked at him.
“How did you know he wouldn’t open up the folder? And see that there was nothing inside it?”
Saint smiled.
“Because he is a Nitpattanasai and admitting when you are wrong is not how we were raised.”
When I called the police with the evidence we found they said we couldn’t bring it outside Korea, since it was an ongoing investigation on their end. But luckily, Ngeun is stubborn and will never engage in being played. If he had opened up the folder, that would have been a sign that I held the cards, that I was in control. And he is just never willing to let that happen.”
“I could guarantee, he wouldn’t see the inside of that folder.”
“Thanks guys, this really was impossible to do alone. I am glad I have you guys to back me up.”
Seungwoo smiled softly.
“Always, besides, I may be needing you soon too.” He said softly.
“I have something to go do before I leave,” Seungwoo said, he bowed then walked out of the room, Saint nodded.
“Bad people are like a hydra, you seek and destroy one out, but for every one you kill, more appear to take it’s place.”
Kit grinned, “Well, we are resourceful, let them come.”
I am going to go phone Ten and let him know about Ngeun, he will be pleased. Kit walked out of the room and Saint didn’t even spare him a passing glance.
Saint reached out and pulled Heart into his lap, causing Heart to sit on him as if he were a chair.
“Saint.” Heart flushed, but Saint just cuddled into the nape of Hearts neck, enjoying the soft sweet smell of oranges and hazelnuts that always permeated the air lightly whenever Heart was around.
“Hold still for just a minute longer. I want to steal all the moments I can with you. This is just the start of the next bit of forever, and I can already tell how stressful it’s going to be.”
“Why does merging two businesses have to be so much work.”
Heart spanked the side of his leg with his hand.
“Stop whining when you are getting your way.”
Saint grinned from ear to ear, his eyes twinkling.
“Slap me again, I like it when you get frisky.”
Heart scowled with disgust and tried to get up, but Saint clung around his middle relentlessly.
“Just five more minutes.”
Heart sighed.
“Is five minutes, really five minutes?”
“Maybe more,” Saint whispered, brushing his lips across the back of Heart’s neck.
Heart sighed in defeat.
“Shhh, stop huffing and eat something, its yummy.”, Saint ordered softly.
“Not as yummy as you are.” Heart whispered.
And Saint looked at Heart in surprise.
“Did you just use one of my lines?”
“Oh, did they have your name on them? I didn’t know?” Heart said innocently. He grabbed a cracker and shoved it in his mouth.
Saint clicked lightly.
I suppose I deserved that.
