Sweet CEO’s First Love - Chapter 72
Warm hands wrapped around Heart’s shoulder, and Heart blinked up to see Kit looking down at him. His kind eyes were filled with a deep, longing sorrow that reflected into Heart. Ten stepped behind him, and he looked over at Ten. Sweet, and gentle Ten who had once told him. The heart is a fragile broken thing, and we only have the people around us who create the glue that holds us together.
If we lose part of the glue, that ache hurts horribly.
Heart sobbed.
“I lost a piece of my glue, Ten.” Heart sobbed.
Ten reached out, and pet Heart’s hair softly.
“Shh, sweetie. I know. I know you did.” Ten said soothingly.
“I can’t exist without my glue.” Heart whined, the tears fell down in little globs onto his shirt, and he wiped them away only to notice the orange, black, and white fur that clung to his shirt.
And he cried even harder. “How can I just keep living life happily, when her remnants are all around me?”
“I..”
“I…”
“Heart? Do you want to come home with us?” Min asked. Her eyes red and raw, tears still shone on her face, and every few seconds, she sniffed.
‘I should go back to be with Min and Tee. Help them through this… But isn’t stress bad for babies, bad for pregnant ladies? I think I am even sadder than she is.’
‘But Saint has to finalize work, and he already showed up here. He can’t pull an allnighter just listening to me cry, and I don’t think I can be strong enough that he can work.’
“Ten…” Heart sniffled.
“Yes?” Ten asked, his voice soft and soothing.
“Can I go back to your house. I.. I don’t want to burden the people I care about when… when. And, and, Min is pregnant, and Saint has to finish up the Nillisitti file. So how can I even ask…” His voice choked off, and Ten nodded, squeezing Heart’s shoulder gently to console him.
“We are going to take Heart back to our house for now. I just talked with him, and he doesn’t want to make Min more distraught when she has the babies.” Saint stepped forward.
“He can come home with me.”
Kit glared. “He knows you already took your entire evening away when you have to finish up that contract before you go on break to Korea.” he hissed.
Saint sighed. “I could put the whole thing on hold. I would. For you Heart.”
Heart sniveled, realizing he sounded almost morbidly depleted.
“Well, you could come back with me,” High said.
Heart nodded his head no. You have Mark and Nine to worry about.
Tone opened his mouth. “Tone I already know, don’t even say anything. I can’t ask. But thank you, everyone, really. I promise I will be okay. I just need to cry for a little longer…”
“A lot longer.”
“It’ll be fine guys, let Uncle Kit step in, I have lots of experience with heartbroken angels.”
Saint gave Kit a look, and Kit gave him look for look.
“Fine, but you will call any of us if you need, right?” Saint asked.
Heart nodded and then reached out a hand. Kit took it, and Ten held tightly under Heart’s left shoulder, and the two of them pulled him up together.
Ten stood on one side and wrapped his arms around him while Kit stood on the other and held him tightly. The two of them walked Heart to their car together like that, in the pitch dark of the night.
Heart got into the back seat of Kit’s car, feeling numb, but Ten climbered in beside him and wrapped his arm around Heart, pulling him to his chest.
‘He knew he could have asked anyone, and they would have taken him in with loving and open arms, while he cried out his pain, his sorrows, and his regrets.’
‘But he also knew that Tone was getting through a heartbreaking reality bomb. He knew that Mark had relapsed in a public place and just gotten out of the hospital from it. And now he knew that MIn was pregnant. His pillars all had been hit by real life. And life hadn’t been super kind at the moment. All of them were in delicate positions, and he couldn’t put his stresses on top of theirs.’
Yet, Kit and Ten had been so kind to him that day in the park. He had been out of his mind with uncertainty on how to move forward during the picnic. And, that hadn’t even been the first time Kit had given his advice freely, and knowing that the advice was good and genuine was comforting. So he went where it felt like he would be the least bothered and yet, still be able to get the most help.
‘His friends were wonderful. But right now, what he needed was KitTen, and he knew that with everyone around him, he would never have to be alone. That he could always ask for help, and with how things had been in his life, he knew that this time for sure wouldn’t be the last time he needed help and to rely on others.’
They drove all the way to Kit and Ten’s flat in complete silence, somewhere along the way it had started to rain. Heart watched the raindrops patter against the windows, their streaks streaming down distorting the world around him.
‘Are you up there looking down at me, knowing how sad I feel right now and are crying too? Don’t cry Num. It’s time for you to be happy. That’s all I ever wanted for you. Pure happiness.’
Heart shoved his face into Ten’s shoulder and closed his eyes. His head ached, and his eyes felt raw and tender.
But his heart felt even heavier and out of sorts than his body did.
He didn’t open his eyes again until the car came to a slow stop, and Kit parked.
Ten got out, and Kit came around both of them pre-offered a hand to help him slide out, and he took it, feeling very much like a small child being led along by both its parents, that clutched to it tightly so it wouldn’t fall.
He felt very much like they were holding him from a precipice, holding him with all their warmth and strength so that he wouldn’t fall into the big black hole that was trying to swallow him up.
They led him inside the building quickly, the two of them speedwalking so as not to get wet. Heart only picked up his feet because he felt it would be incredibly rude if he forced them to get drenched by the rain just because he didn’t care what happened.
The lobby of Kit and Ten’s apartment building reminded him a bit of the one in Saints, and he wondered if they were done up by the same contractors.
Then realized that was a stupid thought. With styles so similar, it was for sure they were the same contractors and that those contractors were for sure Saint’s grandpa’s company for sure.
Kit clicked the button to the elevator, and the moment it dinged and opened, they all stepped inside. The doors closed and they went upwards, unlike Saint they didn’t choose the special, penthouse suite but rather pressed the button for a regular floor.
Floor sixteen but the elevator dinged and opened before they could even get up to their floor and the doors opened up letting in a young couple.
Everyone smiled at everyone politely, except for Heart, Heart just leaned his head on Ten’s shoulder and ignored the world.
The moment the elevator opened, Ten stepped out with Heart sensing his distress at having to be in a small space with others during this tough time.
Even the most innocent of niceties felt like a dagger to his heart, and he just didn’t have the strive to power through it and be normal right now.
Kit unlocked the door, and Ten guided Heart through the door.
Heart stared at their house with a sigh of relief. Like, suddenly everything could be okay because he was in a safe place, he was with friends, and he wouldn’t be hurting anyone with his sorrow here.
“Take off your shoes and just go wherever you need to go. The guest room is the second door on the right, and our room,” Ten stated while pointing directly down the hall and squinting. “It is the door at the end of the hall. The first door right across from the guest room is the bathroom. Next to that is Kit’s office.”
“If Kit isn’t in the bedroom, he is in his office. If you need me, I am normally lazing about the living room.”
“Do you know what you want to…?”
Heart looked into Ten’s eyes, and Ten halted his phrase mid-question.
“You poor thing. Come here.”
Ten pulled Heart into his arms and very slowly led him to the couch like a puppy that needed to be trained where to go.
Ten sat him down on the couch, then sat down next to him.
“Babe, get Heart a glass of water, and maybe something to eat. I don’t think he had dinner.”
“I don’t think I can eat, water is fine.” He croaked.
Heart flopped over into Ten’s, his head falling onto Ten’s lap.
“Can I cry now? Can I cry without it hurting anyone else too much?” Heart asked, his voice barely a whisper. The tears welled up so big he couldn’t even see.
Ten pet his hair gently.
“Shhh, it’s okay. Just let it all out.”
Heart broke into gut-wrenching sobs that filled the room, sobs so loud he couldn’t hold them back if he tried.
But then again, he didn’t have to.
He was safe here.
