Sweet CEO’s First Love - Chapter 81
Heart sat at the table feeling very stuffed and pushed the cake crumbs around on the plate, unwilling to clean it off. The piece had slowly begun breaking up as he had taken it and began mutilating its layers as he chopped and hacked at it, too stuffed to even try this flavor.
“You should try this one Heart,” Min said beaming happily as she chatted with the owner of the shop, her eyes, and ears one hundred percent distracted by the information she was jotting down.
Heart looked at it, feeling disgusted at the thought of another flavor, another smell coming close to his body.
They had been sitting here in the cake shop for a little over three hours, but he couldn’t even blame Min. This was for her special day, so she had to get it right. She also had acquired this amazing new habit where she seemed to be able to endlessly eat all the time now, and since she was starting to show it was a good thing her appetite had increased because it was one heck of an excuse for her belly if anyone asked.
Heart had been dragged around like this for the past week as soon as his test had finished last Monday, and since he had been free for winter holidays he had zero excuses not to go with Min places since all he was doing was lazing about the house, cleaning, reading a book, or watching copious amounts of TV when he was not packing things up for Min.
Min giggled at something the woman said and Heart smiled when they both looked over at him. Min looked over at him fondly, while the pretty girl who looked only to be a few years older than him smiled softly but gave him a judgmental look seeing how he was treating her cake.
Heart cleared his throat once and looked down at the plate guiltily.
Sorry, little buddy you did nothing to deserve this fate… But if I ate you, you would have had a terrible fate, much worse than this. I am afraid I would have gone into a food coma, a sugar death, and you would have been run right through my system as it shut down with multiple errors from the sheer amount of sugar shoved into it in one afternoon.
The dead carcasses of this cake’s brethren lay displayed around them, roughly twenty different tiny plates. Some cleaned some still holding a few barely touched pieces and more than a few with just a couple bites taken out of them.
Heart had started off strong eating everything they offered at first, along with Min. But then they had both begun to pace themselves, unlike him, Min was still going. Heart had stopped about twelve flavors back out of every single one on there.
“Oh, you have to try this one”, when it’s to-die-for flavor came his way he looked at it with the look of a Jedi meeting his nemesis.
Heart pulled his long striped button-up Hawaiian shirt away from his chest in a weak attempt to get all the crumbs from off it. A few solitary bigger bits bounced down the front and tumbled to the floor. He watched them go with relief before looking at the floor and realizing what a big mess he was creating.
Heart looked back up sheepishly.
Min and the girl seemed to be finishing up their conversation and Heart couldn’t help but sigh gratefully it was coming to an end.
The two of them stood and Heart stood up to fold his hands in front of him politely.
Min looked at him and smiled.
“Oh no, Heart we are not leaving, she wants to show me the kitchen in the back and give us a few things to take home with us, since Tee’s family is spending lots of money on the cake she wants us to be really happy. You can come with us or stay here.
Heart let out a little sigh of boredom and tried to suck it back in as the girl’s face fell with obvious displeasure at his behavior
She stared at him unhappily waiting for his answer. “Ahhh, um. I will stay.” Heart said and her face brightened again immediately.
Min chuckled. “Okay wait for us here. I shouldn’t be too much longer. You are such a good brother to be dragged along to all this wedding stuff while Tee was working, thank you for not making me go alone.” Min said, reached out and petting Heart’s chubby cheek gently.
Heart flushed and the girl blinked.
“Maybe you can bring your husband next time. I am sure it will be so lovely to meet him. Some people do not really enjoy all the wedding stuff if they are not the ones getting married.” She hinted, throwing shade at Heart.
Heart winced. The two of them turned and walked away, the girl holding onto Min like they were old friends as they walked into the back arms linked tightly.
“Ouch, that was a direct hit.”
“Tell me one person who can eat like a thousand plates of mini cakes without getting bored and I will call you a liar. My stomach hurts and I didn’t even eat like half of them.”
“P, can I have some of your cake if you don’t like it?” Came a small familiar voice from beside his right leg. Heart looked down and an instant large smile popped up on his face.
“Mouse! I haven’t seen you in so long! What are you doing here, my pretty angel? Did I drop into a food coma, is this what happens when you eat too much cake? You are visited by an angel mouse?” Heart asked.
“Did I go to heaven? Cake heaven?”
The little girl covered her mouth with her hand and giggled.
“No P’Heart I am not in heaven and neither are you.”
“Momma and I came to get some cake.” Mouse said happily.
“Oh, you can’t I am afraid I ate it all.” Heart teased.
Mouse nodded looking at the table. “I believe you.” She said very seriously.
“What is P’Heart doing here?” Mouse asked.
“I came with my sister, she is getting married.”
Mouse gasped. “Her too! Wow is everyone getting married?”
Heart chuckled.
“You know someone else who is getting married?” Heart asked.
Mouse nodded. “Mmmm, momma is getting married to Ram and he is going to be my new daddy.” Heart chuckled.
“That sounds amazing Nong Mouse.”
Mouse nodded.
Mamma said she really likes P’Ram and I can tell since she was always spending time with him when they were at the office together.” Mouse cocked her head to one side.
“Mamma and P’Ram spent as much time together as you and Uncle Saint.”
Heart sucked in a breath and smirked at Mouse wondering just when she had noticed that little tidbit of information.
“And just how would you know how much time P’Saint and P’Heart spend together?” Heart asked curiously.
“I see P’Heart come out of Uncles office all the time.”
“And Uncle Kit is always telling Uncle Ten how much P’Saint and P’Heart love each other.”
Mouses face scrunched up for a moment. “Are P and Uncle going to get married too?”
Heart’s jaw dropped.
“If you do, can I be the flower girl? Mamma says I am going to be the fairy at her wedding because she loves me so much and I am as pretty as a fairy.”
Heart picked Mouse up and pinched her belly.
“You can’t be the fairy at my wedding Nong.”
Mouse frowned, very unhappy to hear this news. “I can’t? Why can’t I? She asked so miffed her cute pudgy face frowned and her adorable little lips pouted so far down he could have picked it up from the ground.
She crossed her little arms and refused to look at Heart. She was so offended that he dared to tell her she was not good enough to be a fairy.
Heart chuckled
“Nong Mouse can’t be a fairy at my wedding because she has to be an angel. didn’t I tell you from the first moment I met you that I had met an angel?”
“There is only room for Angel Mouse at my wedding or I just may have to stomp and throw a fit too.”
Mouse perked up immediately and flushed brightly so happy that Herat wasn’t being mean. She giggled at the last thing he said.
“P, you can’t stomp and throw a fit.” She said hiding her laughter behind her hand, her eyes twinkling brightly with humor.
“And why can’t I?” Heart asked. playing along
“Because you are too big!” she said.
“I am never too big to get my way when I want it.” Heart said playfully.
“Yes, he is right, if he stomps and throws a fit it will work every time.”
Heart froze at the sound of Saint’s voice and he did a double-take.
‘What the heck is he doing here? Did he have a tracker on his phone? Did someone tell Saint where he was? He had never even mentioned the name of the store to Saint, just that he was going cake shopping with Min.’
‘That’s all his text had said. He was sure of it.’
Saint ruffled his hair and leaned in and pecked Heart lightly on the cheek.
Mouse watched Heart and giggled at his face.
“P’Heart looks funny, it’s like he has never seen Uncle before.”
