Caroline answered the caller which happened to be Mike!
“Hello…”
“Caroline…Condolence…I saw on TV about the tragedy that happened in the Sea of Clouds. I’m sorry for Alex. I’m relieved that nothing bad happened to you. How are you?” he said.
“Thanks for calling me. I’m fine. I’m about to follow my husband into heaven but you interrupted my ascend to heaven!” she grumbled.
“Whaaaat? What do you mean? Are you going to commit suicide to follow your husband in heaven? Are you crazy!?” he shouted.
“Call me what you want! Whatever I do with my life right now is none of your business. My life has lost its meaning now that my husband is dead! I want to die!” she yelled at him.
“No, you can’t die yet! Not until you fix your strained relationship with our children. Aren’t you going to get back on Justine and Suzanne’s good side? You are such a selfish woman! You have a perfect life with Alex and your children with him. How about your other children with me? How about Cathy? Instead of wasting your life, why don’t you spend the rest of your life repairing the strained relationship you have with your other children. Don’t be selfish! Think of others! Do you think your daughter Jasmine and son Gabriel will celebrate if they lose both parents? Do you think your beloved Alex will be happy in heaven after you killed yourself! Think about that before you kill yourself!” Mike gave her a scathing scolding.
Caroline was silent for a moment. Her ex-husband raised a valid point though… but she’s still determined to follow her husband to heaven. “Give my love to Suzanne and Justin and take care of yourself. Bye, now,” she said calmly and turned off her phone and put it back on the table. She locked the door of the room and went back to the bathroom to continue what she had in mind.
She slid into the bathtub and was about to do it…drown herself in the bathtub.
But before she had completely submerged her head below the water, everything that Mike told her earlier came rushing back in her mind… then she remembered what Alex told her once… that if something bad happens to him and he will die first before her. He wants her to continue living her life to the fullest and not spend her days grieving for him, because life is precious and one has to value it.
Then she recalled her dark past… she remembered when Brenda was about to stab her, she fought hard with that deranged woman because she doesn’t want to die yet!
In the end, Brenda died and she survives.
She had come this far and conquered her demons!
Will she give up her life now? Will Alex be happy if she will end her life for him?
No, he won’t be happy!
Then her son Gabriel and daughter Jasmine will feel devastated if she will die due to suicide. Not only do they lose their father they also lose their mother.
Then there was also Cathy, her daughter with Joseph.
Suzanne and Justin her children with Mike. She doesn’t have a good relationship with them… would she leave this world not able to repair her broken relationship with her children?
Then she also told herself once that she will tell Mike about her dark secret one day and also her mother and twin sister Catherine. They all deserved to know her dark secret, she owes them the truth.
Oh, God, she realized now that she still has so many things to do in her life!
No! She can’t end her life now! Not yet!
She immediately drained the water in the tub. Then discarded her wet clothes, and wrapped the bathrobe around her n.a.k.e.d body. She exited the bathroom and went to the closet to find something to wear.
After she finished donning dry clothes in her body, she picked up the phone from the table and power it on.
She went to the bed and lies down, scrolling through her phone, reading Mike’s long messages. All his messages were laced with fear – he thought that she was going to kill herself today and urged her not to do it.
She released a deep sigh and texted him, reassuring him that she won’t kill herself today. She even sent him a photo of herself lying in the bed preparing to sleep. Then she texted him that she would like to see Suzanne and Justin again and repair her broken relationship with them… soon.
Done texting Mike, she put the phone on the bedside table and close her eyes to sleep.
Her mind was already made up, she won’t kill herself today. There’s still a lot of things she needed to do with her life. Besides, Alex won’t approve of her sinister intention of killing herself to follow him to the other world when she still has long years to live here on earth.
She was thankful to her ex-husband for saving her life just in time!
Just when she was about to commit suicide – Mike’s call just came right on time to save herself from executing the deed which will bring more sadness and sorrow to her loved ones especially to her children, her mother, and her siblings.
Losing Alex was painful and really hit her hard. It will take time for her heart to be completely healed from the pain of losing such a loving husband.
But time will eventually heal all wounds and she will be able to accept the grim reality that Alex is gone forever from this world.
She picked up her phone and texted her twin sister Catherine, Lily, Jacob, and her mother, reassuring them that she’s alright and she will call them one by one after she wakes up.
Done texting everyone, she closed her eyes, ready to rest. Her body is screaming for a much-needed sleep.
A few minutes later…
The 45 years old widow’s tired body succ.u.mbs to a deep slumber.

Meanwhile, inside Mike’s office.
He was still in shock after watching from TV news that Alex was among the dead victims of the Sea of Clouds Tragedy. He felt sorry for him and for all the victims who perished in the disaster.
He was glad that his ex-wife was alive and well, but he got worried after talking to her earlier, and he detected suicide intention in the ways she talks to him on the phone.
That got him alarmed, he panicked!
He went on an uproar – texting her long messages nonstop because she was no longer accepting his calls and that terrifies him.
He only stops texting her after she sends him a video of herself lying in the bed in the state of sleeping and reassured him that she will start repairing her broken relationship with Suzanne and Justin soon.
Her last statement brings joy to his heart ‘coz her intention is favorable for his children, and he got to see her again, very soon!
He stays single all these times because his heart only belongs to Caroline.
