Swordswoman: The Few Unrecorded Decades - Chapter 32
In the outside corner near the palace gate of the Ru Palace, two horses were on standby with a servant holding them. Some soldiers can be seen patrolling the area. Four figures then emerge from the inside of the palace. These figures belong to King Ru Ning, Emperor Ru Shi, Ye Shin and Emperor He Mo. Two of the figures is about to begin their trip towards their homeland while the other two are sending them of.
“My armies have not made any movements since the day we talked. When you finished your arrangement in your Kingdom, we can start to wage a war.” King Ru Ning said as the four people were slowly walking.
“The war can serve as a distraction while I secretly attack the Empire of Chi. I will contact you sooner than you think King Ru Ning.” Emperor He Mo responded and partially told him the plans he had in mind. King Ru Ning smile at him and nodded his head with satisfaction.
While the two are having a serious talking about wars, the other two figures were also having a one sided conversation. Emperor Ru Shi is trying to entice Ye Shin to stay in the Empire of Ru and live with him!
“Are you sure you do not want to stay with me? I can offer you everything in my kingdom. “Emperor Ru Shi said.
This Ru emperor had been doing his best to convince Ye Shin to stay in the Empire of Ru since he learned that she will be going back to the Empire of He. The lady remains silent and appears calm despite the nonstop verbal harassment of Emperor Ru Shi.
“I can offer you prestige, status and reputation. I can give you anything you want and everything you need!” Emperor Ru Shi stated again in a hushed tone when he did not hear any response from the lady.
“Stop sabotaging my bodyguard.” Emperor He Mo finally interfered on their conversation.
“Don’t mind my son. He is just joking around.” King Ru Ning also joined.
“Brother He Mo, you must visit here more often.” Emperor Ru Shi told the He emperor while smiling widely at him.
“You just want to see my bodyguard!” Emperor He Mo commented in a friendlier tone.
“Hahaha You had known me well brother He Mo. Anyway, you must have a safe trip since the lady is with you.” Emperor Ru Shi responded as they nearly arrived on the corner where the two horses are placed.
“Then we will be on our way.” Emperor He Mo told them before he climbed on his horse. Ye shin also offered a customary bow to Emperor Ru Shi and King Ru Ning before they left.
King Ru Ning and his son were standing on the same position as they looked at the two figures riding their horses gradually fading on their sight. After a while, the two went back inside the Ru Palace. Emperor Ru Shi is officially taking over the work of his father but it does not mean that King Ru Ning can finally rest. The two went on their separate obligations. One of them attends on the capital affairs while the other is on military affairs.
Not long after, Emperor He Mo and Ye Shin arrived on Capital of Ru. Ye Shin had told to the emperor to stop on the capital library first as she had something to check. When they arrived at the entrance of the library, a huge sign of the building is written. The sign is plated with gold and says, Ru Capital Pavilion of Books. As the entered the building, they bumped on a familiar figure. It was Ye Zhu, the other sword cultivator girl with her weapon emitting black aura that can corrode a soul.
Ye Shin was the first to notice before the girl named Ye Zhu saw her. When they made an eye contact, Ye Shin slightly nods her head in recognition of the girl. Ye Zhu eyes went wide before she innocently came to the lady. Emperor He Mo then finally noticed the presence of the girl.
“Is she the reason why we stopped in this place?” the young emperor asked her quietly.
“No. But it’s also good that she is here, your majesty.” Ye Shin answered.
Ye Zhu walks inside the pavilion of books after they exchanged a silent greeting. The young emperor and Ye Shin looked at her back until she was finally gone on their sight. After a while, an ordinary attendant from the inside of the pavilion of books went to them and asked what books they are looking. He had noticed the two figures seems new in the place and might need some assistance.
“I am looking for Soul Practitioner manuals.” Ye Shin briefly answered. The attendant’s eyes looked at the lady with surprised expression.
“My lady we only have few manuals available and we are under strict compliance that one needs to be a soul practitioner to be able to see those books. I need to see you badge as a proof that you are one of them.” the attendant politely explained to her with an apologetic expression.
“I am not a soul practitioner. Perhaps you can make an exception?” the lady said and hinted Emperor He Mo to take over.
“This… Well, the people that is not bind by this rule is if you are a ruler or if you can just present a token owned by an empress or emperor, we can let you inside the library without following any rules.” the attendant told her.
“That’s good. Let me borrow your token, your majesty?” Ye Shin looked at the young emperor waiting for him to hand his token to her.
“Next time, use the token I gave you.” Emperor He Mo stated softly but still hands his token to Ye Shin. Ye Shin stared at him for a while as if processing what the emperor had just said before she presented his token to the attendant.
“So it’s the Emperor of the He Empire. Your majesty, forgive this ignorant attendant for not recognizing his highness.” the attendant offered a customary bow and return the token to the lady.
“This way please.” the attendant politely guided them to the shelves where the manuals about soul practitioner cultivation were placed.
When they arrived, there are only three manuals gently placed on the shelves. The attendant looked at them slightly embarrassed. The lady grabs all three manuals and read its title.
First Stage – Soul Nourishment
First Stage – Soul Cultivated
First Stage – Souls Within
“Why are there only three books? And all of them are of first stage?” Emperor He Mo asked the attendant with deep curiosity.
“Replying to your majesty, as far as this attendant knows, the soul practitioners are almost not using manuals in their cultivation. They have something called legacy instead. The legacy is like a book that is full of information about soul cultivation. Every master has different legacy. They placed it in their memories and transferred it usually to their clan head or disciples for keepsakes when they die.” the attendant respectfully said.
“Legacy in their memories?” the young emperor absentmindedly commented as he remembered what the elder from Ma Empire told him in his dream like state.
Ye Shin keeps flipping the pages of those three manuals before she slowly returned them back to its shelve. The lady did not see the information she was looking. She pondered for a few breaths before a strange middle aged man approached her.
“Hihihi Lady, what are you looking for? I possessed a legacy from a master soul practitioner. Maybe this gentleman can help?” the middle age man said. Ye Shin looked at the strange man for a while before she responded.
“Two souls in one body, do you know what it is?” Ye Shin calmly asked him. The strange old man somehow shifted his facial expression. At first he was smiling when he approached the lady but when he heard what she is looking for, a startled look immediately appears in his face.
“Who!?” the middle age man loudly screamed to her and had managed disrupting all the people within the vicinity.
“Sir, it is forbidden to scream. I must asked sir to leave here.” the attendant politely addressed the flustered middle aged man.
“Sorry, I just got excited.” the middle age man managed his composure and responded to the attendant.
“Have you seen what you are looking? If there are nothing on those three manuals, let’s just leave. Let’s go?” the emperor said and is about to turn his back when he suddenly felt a familiar sensation deep inside him. The noise in his surrounding started to fade away. The sudden and unsettling feeling is too familiar to him! He felt his heart beat again as its pulse had slow down and that something in his mind is taking over causing it to be in disorder state! Before the emperor knows it, everything was engulfed with darkness as he loses his consciousness!
“It’s him!” the strange middle age man exclaimed with excitement. The attendant was in panic and forgot to reprimand the man as his eyes stared at the emperor on the ground.
