Swordswoman: The Few Unrecorded Decades - Chapter 39
The Empire of Qing has turned into a battlefield but the only difference is that their own soldiers were the one who attacked their kingdom. There is no living survivor except for the possessed soldiers, if they can still be considered a living being and the messenger of Hong Empire who is now hiding along the street of the capital were dead bodies are scattered.
He kept on observing the movements of the possessed soldiers starting from the palace where they killed the Qing emperor until the capital where they started slaughtering the people. He had even seen the possessed soldiers started eating the dead bodies that his guts turned upside down. They were acting like zombies!
The messenger of the Hong Empire decided that he had seen enough. The man slowly crawled away from where the possessed soldiers were standing. The feeling of disgust has long left him as he had been staying longer on the place where the air smelled blood. Luckily for this man, the possessed soldiers did not notice his movements. He quickened his pace determined to escape unscathed. He did not stop until he saw no one in the vicinity anymore.
The man then grabbed a stray horse and ride on it as fast as he can. Adrenaline may have taken over his whole body because he had managed to quickly flee away from the terrible scene in the territory of Qing Empire. This man does not even have an experience in horse riding!
After the man reached the border entrance of the He Empire, his whole body completely collapsed on the ground! The soldiers assigned to the gate are new replacements since the original soldiers stationed in the area were injured from the attack of Qing Elite Army. These new replacements look at the unconscious man before they carried him to their quarters for him to rest.
“This man looks so exhausted. Could it be that he is a criminal trying to escape? We just suffered an attack from the Empire of Qing, we cannot let our guards down” one younger soldier said as he looked closely at the man.
“No. This garment that he is wearing is so identical to the clothing made from the Hong Empire. My daughter and son love to collect this kind of garment. They said it’s a status symbol!” the older soldier responded while checking the man.
“Perhaps he encountered a bandit or some beasts?” the younger soldier commented.
“He does not have a wound on his body but the bloodstain in his garments is a human blood!” another soldier stated.
The soldiers are still examining the man when suddenly the unconscious man throws up. He vomited for a few more breaths. The smell of putrid puke made the soldiers alert.
“Is he poisoned?” someone asked when the man released a successive coughs.
The soldiers maintained a few meters away from the man when they saw him opened his eyes. They are very cautious. They saw the man immediately sat up and looked at them one by one. The man then looked around the surrounding before he released a sigh of relief.
“I am a messenger from the Empire of Hong. My emperor Hong Te sent me to the Empire of Qing but… A terrible…really terrible thing happened to the Qing Empire!” the man said as he did not have an idea that those possessed army had actually attacked the He Empire first.
“Ha! What terrible? Those bastards had attacked us and managed to injure our comrades before they cowardly left.” a soldier snickered while glaring at the man. This soldier does not have an idea that those attackers were possessed.
“The streets of the Qing Empire has-” the messenger from the Hong empire started to say but abruptly stopped when he realized that the information he is about to tell can sabotage his plans on making money.
The man scratched his head and pretended to forgot something. He then went silent as if he was lost on his track.
“Well, if you are okay now… You can go and continue your journey.” one of the soldier encouraged him to leave.
“Brothers, could I borrow a pen, ink and paper?” the messenger oddly asked.
“What pen, ink and paper! We are soldiers! We do not use such! We are adept in weaponry instead of literary tools!” the older soldiers scolded the man.
“Right. Sorry to bother. Then, I will go now. Hoho” the messenger said and laughed awkwardly. He then went out of the soldier’s quarter. He saw the horse he had mounted and looked at the animal in horror.
“What’s wrong, messenger of Hong Empire?” a soldier asked.
“Where can I get a carriage? I am not really good in horse riding.” The man answered in an shy manner.
The soldier looked at him in shocked. What did he mean? He was riding the horse so fast when he arrived in the area!
“There are no carriages here. If you managed to travel few miles from here, you can probably rent a carriage.” the younger soldier answered.
“Oh… well, I am off then.” the man said and started walking. He left the horse he had just ridden.
“That man actually left his horse!” someone from the soldier’s quarter mumbled.
“Let him be.” the older soldier told them as they looked at the man slowly walking on the street.
After several hours, the man had finally seen a carriage for rental. His eyes danced at the view and run towards the carriage. He then hurriedly approached the coachman.
“Brother, can you send me to the Empire of Hong?” the man inquired. He saw the other man looked at him with contempt as soon as the other person heard his request.
“Are you crazy?!! The Empire of Hong is three empires away! At most, I can bring you to the capital of He Empire.” the coachman stated while weirdly looking at man dress is full of bloodstain.
“Okay, brother send me to the Hong Magazine Branch in your capital.” the messenger agreed and leaped inside the carriage without waiting for the coachman to respond. The coachman shook his head and frown while looking at his carriage.
“Do you know where this branch is situated in the capital? I am not familiar of your business name.” the coachman said.
“Yes. I will tell you the direction.” the messenger said before the carriage finally departed.
Empire of He, Palace
The young emperor is having a conversation with his brother and sister in law. They are talking about the arrangements in Qing Empire.
“The Qing Empire will be like a ghost city, once you arrived in there. I will contact the Hong Emperor and propose possible businesses. For the meantime, we will use the territory as a training ground of our army.” Emperor He Mo said to the two couple.
“Forgive my boldness your majesty, but how about the citizens of the Qing Empire?” the emperor’s sister-in-law asked curiously.
“They are gone. By now, everyone may have been dead.” Emperor He Mo answered her. She slightly shivered of the thought but did not speak a word anymore.
“This man will be your bodyguard.” Emperor He Mo said while pointing at the elder’s son.
He Lan stared at the thin boy suspiciously. This man does not even look like he can protect his own self! The emperor’s brother secretly thought.
“Mister, I am a Soul Practitioner from the Empire of Ma.” the elder’s son made an initiative to introduced himself when he felt the eyes of He Lan trying to assist him.
“A Soul Practitioner!” He Lan exclaimed in astonishment. He had obviously known a thing or two about the people who uses soul cultivation.
“Alright, tomorrow you shall start travelling to the Qing Empire. Your wife is the sole survivor of the kingdom so everything in there is all yours.” Emperor He Mo told his brother who is still staring at the elder’s son.
“Yes.” He Lan finally gained back his composure.
