System Of Gods And Devils - Chapter 50
“I’m sorry to say this! I can’t help you in this matter!” she replied bluntly.
“Wha… Why?” Roger was surprised by her reply.
*sigh*
“Even though I want to help, I can’t! This is much more complicated than you think,” she replied.
“According to the information I got, the Silver Immortal Fox tribe is currently chased by both humans and demi-humans of other worlds,” she said.
“Whaaat?”
“But doesn’t humans consider silver immortal fox tribe as allies as did their ancestors.” Roger was surprised that humans are also in the hunt for the Silver Immortal fox tribe.
“You are underestimating the greed of humans! We are currently in the brink of another war. So they would do everything in their hands to catch the SIlver Immortal fox clan members. Because divination can help them save millions of their people during the war. Our Soaring dragon clan didn’t join the hunt because of you. But if we were to help them, then we might become the target of both humans and demi-humans of other worlds, and I don’t want that to happen.” Roger got in thought after hearing her explanation.
“I can understand your situation, but I have a request!” he said seriously.
“You don’t have to bring them here rather will you take me there?” Roger asked her.
“What? You want to go there. Do you know how dangerous it is? Currently, every higher-up of the demi-humans knows about you and you are protected here because of the Soul Binding treaty signed during the previous war. That’s why they sent Sulrien to take care of you. It will be a different story if you leave this planet. The demi-humans have numerous spies watching our every single movement. The moment we stepped into space they will notice us and send word to higher-ups. Even my Immortal energy cannot mask your presence because of their specialty in soul cultivation.” the great elder urged him.
“Senior I can understand your worries but believe me, I will take us out without anyone noticing and you just have to use your Immortal energy to keep the ship running at near light speed. That’s all!” Roger said.
“This….!” She looked at his confident face and knew that a halo of mystery surrounds him. If this was said by anybody else other than him, she would’ve slapped them away for lying. But she knew how capable Roger is and the miracles he can do.
“Yes, great elder. I’ve seen the ship he posses. Even if someone used the ship to peek on you while bathing on the lake, I believe you wouldn’t even notice.” Qing’er joked with her hands closing her mouth.
*giggles*
“You stinky brat! You’re asking for a spanking!” Long Xianyu said seriously, but they knew she wasn’t angry because she had a little smile on her face.
Roger never thought Qing’er had a close relationship with the great elder.
Roger thought of her bathing on the lake, and his vision darted towards her non-existent chest and then towards her stone cold face which seemed to radiate killing intent at the moment.
*Gulppp*
He quickly turned his head towards the window while drops of sweat formed over his head. Her killing intent died off as she knew that he was someone younger than Qing’er whom she sees as her grandchild. It was natural that someone of his age is having thoughts like that.
*Sigh*
“If you can take me outside without the spies noticing then I would gladly help during the journey! Now you can leave and return tomorrow morning.” She said and got off the seat.
Roger thanked her with a smile and sent an apologetic gaze towards her. But she didn’t look at his face.
*Sigh*
“Guess, she’s still mad at me!” Roger thought while walking out of the room.
“Hey! Will you take me with you tomorrow. Please! Please!” Qing’er begged Roger.
“OK! OK! But you must ask for permission with the patriarch first!” he reminded.
They slowly descended the peak while enjoying the scenery for the second time.
“Hey! I totally forgot to ask her about the Eternal tomb!” Roger shouted in surprise.
“It’s okay! We will meet her tomorrow don’t we?” Qing’er said.
“Yes! I think you’re right! Let’s finish this business first!” Roger exclaimed and left towards his courtyard.
Outside the house, Lisa was standing on the porch waiting for him. Looking at her, Roger knew that she was waiting for him from the moment he left. He felt sad looking at her. She left her home and her family for the sake of the clan; he couldn’t help but feel sorry for her. He knew these 15 years searching for him was lonely and hard, if it were anyone else they would’ve left years ago.
Lisa looked at him coming towards her. Roger also looked at her.
He smiled at her and asked, “Lisa why are you standing outside?”
“I was just waiting for the young master to arrive!” she exclaimed as she gripped her clothes with her fingers.
She looked at floor thinking whether to ask or not. Roger knew what she was thinking and thought of pranking her a little.
“Lisa! I know what want to ask! It’s about your clan! Sigh…..! I am sorry…! Pack your things we’ll set out tomorrow morning ….to your clan!”
“Hmmm (*-*)…Whhaat? To my clan? (*#*)” Lisa shouted in shock.
“Hahaha….! Yes, tomorrow we are going to pick up your clan members! Aren’t you happy?” Roger said with a smile.
Lisa felt her head spinning for a moment and tears started to feel from her eyes. She jumped at him and hugged his thighs and wailed loudly. It was heart-wrenching for Roger to hear her crying. He knew that she was releasing her pent-up emotions out. He also kneeled as hugged tightly.
Feeling his comfort made her cry even more. She waited for this moment for 15 years facing hardsh.i.p.s and lonely life. She wanted to feel the warmth and now she finally got it which made her release her emotions even more.
Roger slowly patted her head. Her fox ears twitched everytime her stroked her head and her tail swayed left to right slowly in comfort.
