Systemless Villain - Chapter 245: Storm's Arrival
The sound of helicopter blades echoed through the air, though dulled compared to before, signaling the arrival of the Long and Xia family in Tianzhou.
As the helicopter hovered in place, its occupants gathered near the exit, anticipation etched on their faces.
Moments later, the door swung open, revealing a scene of urban chaos below.
Fires raged unchecked, and thick plumes of black smoke engulfed the skyline, punctuated by the debris of collapsed structures.
Inside the helicopter, solemn expressions mirrored the gravity of the situation. The widespread devastation hinted at a threat not to be underestimated.
“What a scene. Do you reckon the imperial forces will intervene?” Xia Kang, a member of the Xia family, pondered aloud.
“With things as dire as they are, they ought to,” Xia Lin, his companion, replied with a nod.
Xia Kang simply observed in silence, his gaze fixed on the unfolding turmoil in Tianzhou.
Even from their elevated vantage point, they could discern cultivators locked in combat with soul beasts, their forms ranging from four-legged to bipedal, each exuding a palpable aura of menace and power.
In an instant, Long Gung, a member of the Long family, caught sight of something unusual in the distance below. Without hesitation, he pointed towards it, his voice ringing out, “Hey, look at that!” his tone brimming with spontaneity and urgency.
At his words, all eyes turned to where Long Gung gestured. The view was obscured by thick smoke, making it difficult to discern at first.
Yet, as moments passed, the object gradually came into focus, drawing serious expressions and widened eyes from the onlookers.
There, amidst the chaos, loomed a colossal dragon, standing at a towering 30 meters tall!
With four formidable legs, adorned with sharp talons, a sinuous neck, and a head crowned with two menacing horns and razor-sharp fangs, the dragon’s appearance struck fear into the hearts of those who beheld it.
“What in the world, a dragon? But aren’t they extinct?!” Long Meng, a member of the Long family, exclaimed incredulously.
“Am I seeing things? Even though we’re of the dragon lineage, this is the first time I’ve laid eyes on a real dragon,” remarked his companion, Long Gian, in awe.
The collective gaze of the onlookers was filled with a mixture of astonishment and reverence at the sight of the dragon, a creature believed by many to be long extinct, yet now looming before them in all its majestic glory.
Long Tian himself couldn’t help but be impressed. Despite encountering a real dragon before, notably a dragoness in a secret realm, the sight of another dragon stirred within him a sense of wonder and reverence.
“How do we proceed? The dragon seems to be attacking the cultivators. Should we intervene as well? Dragons hold great significance for our family,” Long Jin questioned, breaking the silence.
A hush fell over the group as Long Jin’s inquiry hung in the air. The dragon, a revered symbol of their lineage, now under attack, was a notion difficult to grasp.
All eyes then turned to Long Gongyu, awaiting his directive and affirmation.
Long Gongyu exuded authority, his posture commanding as he stood with arms crossed over his chest.
After a moment of contemplation, he pronounced, “We will engage the dragon,” firm in his decision.
Upon hearing this, solemn expressions adorned the faces of everyone present, particularly the members of the Long family. They were now confronted with the daunting prospect of defending their cherished emblem.
Long Jin, resolute in his stance, sought guidance, “What is the plan, Grand Elder?”
Long Gongyu remained silent momentarily, his gaze fixed on the dragon amidst the fray below.
The creature’s supremacy was undeniable as it effortlessly clashed with numerous formidable cultivators, its fiery breath leaving destruction in its wake.
After a brief contemplation, Long Gongyu reached into his spatial ring to retrieve his smartphone.
Confusion rippled through the group, but they understood that Long Gongyu was initiating a phone call.
Amidst the cacophony of battle below, the ringing tone reverberated. Soon enough, the call connected, and the voice of Long Shu, one of the Elders of the Long family, filled the air.
“What prompts your summons, Grand Elder?” Long Shu’s inquiry cut through the line.
“I require you to dispatch someone to retrieve a spatial orb for Tianzhou. You’re aware of the turmoil here, correct? I believe you can locate us easily,” Long Gongyu explained.
“Why the urgency for a spatial orb? You’re aware of their scarcity, I presume? Since the Mount Hua sect massacre a month ago, the stock is very limited, and can even be counted on one hand. If I recall correctly, there are only 3 left,” Long Shu pointed out.
“This is something I cannot overlook. Just bring one here as quickly as you can, this is an order!” Long Gongyu’s tone brooked no argument.
A pregnant silence followed. Long Shu evidently sensed the gravity of Long Gongyu’s words.
Finally, he acquiesced, “Very well, I shall dispatch someone promptly, as you’ve instructed.”
Long Gongyu nodded, content with Long Shu’s compliance. Turning his attention to the young talents, he addressed them with purpose.
“Alright, let’s spring into action. Long Gungtao, Long Tian, Long Xi, Xia Han, and Xia Qingyue, as our top talents, you will confront the soul beasts. Their numbers appear to be formidable, suitable for your capabilities. As for the rest, follow me to confront the dragon,” he declared.
Upon hearing this, most of them nodded, but one of them, Long Gungtao, appeared to disagree and raised his hand.
“Grand Elder, may I not join the fray against the dragon? Long Iji can accompany Long Tian and Xia Qingyue; he’s quite dependable,” he proposed.
However, Long Gongyu’s countenance remained resolute, devoid of agreement. “I trust you’ve all been instilled with discipline from a young age. Gungtao, my decision serves the collective good. While you’ve faced formidable adversaries before, this isn’t solely about you. Do you grasp the significance of my words?” he queried, his tone laden with gravitas.
Long Gungtao lapsed into silence at the weight of the statement. Eventually, he acquiesced, “Understood, Grand Elder. I apologize,” he conceded.
Long Gongyu nodded, content with Long Gungtao’s acknowledgment. Redirecting his attention to Long Tian, he sought confirmation.
“And you, Long Tian, do you contest my decision to pair you with Gungtao?” he inquired.
“No, I have no qualms facing those soul beasts,” Long Tian affirmed.
Satisfied, Long Gongyu nodded, “Very well, let’s take action,” he decreed.
Agreeing nods ensued, and their focus shifted downward to the tumult below.
“Initiate descent,” Long Gongyu commanded.
In compliance, the pilot nodded and initiated the descent, gradually bringing the helicopter closer to the ground.
However, in that pivotal moment, as all attention focused below, a figure suddenly leaped from the helicopter!
Gasps of astonishment filled the air as everyone witnessed the daring act.
“Wait, who just jumped?!” exclaimed Xia Junsu in disbelief.
“It’s Long Tian!” confirmed Long Jin, his own surprise evident in his tone.
Once again, shock rippled through the group, not anticipating Long Tian’s audacious leap from a helicopter thousands of feet above ground.
Yet, Long Gongyu remained composed, his focus more on assessing Long Tian’s prowess than worrying about his safety.
Meanwhile, Long Tian descended with remarkable speed, his hair and clothing billowing, exuding a regal air.
As the ground drew nearer, his form morphed into a bolt of lightning, hurtling downward with the force of thunder.
BANG!
With a resounding impact, a thunderous explosion reverberated, instantly obliterating several soul beasts in its wake.
The ensuing dust and smoke veiled the area, shrouding it in chaos.
Amidst the turmoil, flashes of lightning darted from one point to another with astonishing velocity. Each strike claimed the lives of one or more soul beasts, evident from the claw marks adorning their heads.
It was unmistakable that these lightning assaults originated from Long Tian. His movements were so swift that even a single strike could kill a level 1 soul beast with ease.
The battling cultivators stood in awe and admiration at the swift and decisive attacks.
“Are those reinforcements? They should have arrived sooner,” remarked one cultivator.
“I can finally breathe easy; it seems our savior is incredibly strong,” sighed another with relief.
“Who do you think it is?” whispered others, their curiosity piqued.
Various discussions and speculations circulated among the cultivators as they pondered the identity of the newcomer.
The lightning strikes, unmistakably powerful and precise, hinted at the presence of a formidable individual.
Their gazes remained fixed in amazement as the dust and smoke gradually dissipated, revealing a figure enveloped in crackling lightning standing amidst the fallen creatures with two hands and feet, but two horns and gray skin.
Gasps of astonishment rippled through the crowd as they realized that the person they presumed to be a seasoned Elder was, in fact, a youthful man!
