Tales Of The Machine God - Chapter 7 Data Log 007
With the pest now out of the way, It was time to get back on track. Moving towards the filing cabinet I started on the settlement drawer, rather than a filing cabinet full of files a large library area began to form behind the cabinet. Looking at the number of supposed blueprints in this section alone brought the newfound twitch to the forefront of his mind as he rushed forward to begin searching for something interesting within the shelves.
The first thing to catch my eye was a book labelled as basic forge construction. Snatching the book from its spot on the shelf I quickly dived into the information available to me here. Looking at the list of available designs left me shocked there seemed to be one for nearly any situation the pod landed in. Anything from coal forges to foundries and blast furnaces.
Looking through I managed to find the one that was best suited to my current settlement. I likely had just enough materials to construct it before I had to send drones on a larger mining expedition. I started by telling Chronos to prepare the materials needed and clearing out the space needed for the smeltery slash forge.
I began to study the blueprint more intensely while keeping an eye on the drones that were now clearing out a nearly 12-meter by 3-meter room with a large amount of head space below the compound. Once space was cleared out I had the drones move all the material inside the new space. With that all set in place, I got ready to move out and start building.
I soon realized a problem, a very very big problem. I had no arms or anything in general through which I could build the smeltery. I could have the drones do it, in fact, it would likely be simpler than doing it myself. Unfortunately, the itch prevented me from doing that I can’t just watch it be built I have to do it I need to get my hands on it and make it WORK.
Chronos.
Is there a way to give me a body capable of moving around.
[Your body is capable of moving]
No, is there a way for me to go and personally build the things I want to build.
[…]
[That is not neccessary]
I believe it is, and you still haven’t answered.
[Affirmative – retrieving file: weapons/personnel/artificial/file 1090]
As the voice ended a book flew from the library directly at me before if opened to a page showing a peculiar blueprint. Directly at the top in bright red was “Warning. Advanced AI study has been banned by the God Emporer of Man”. This line was confusing, to say the least. If AI is banned then how am I here or even Chronos. It means that either we weren’t meant to exist or someone is ignoring the warnings.
Overall not the most important thing, no that belonged to the mechanical body that was set upon the blueprint before me. This body was made for crafting, four arms each containing dextrous fingers capable of minute detail yet not lacking in strength due to the powerful hydraulics. The chest area is capable of holding a large variety of tools required for whatever process was required. The only part that would have to be changed would be the skull pieces that required a human brain.
Unfortunately, we need the smeltery and forge set up to gather the correct metals and alloys needed for this design.
Chronos, Set the drones to construct smeltery design #145 in room E4. Once they are finished with that go ahead and continue work on the settlement above ground. Until that’s finished Ill start constructing the smaller pieces of the body using the foundry inside my current body.

Jaxson looked down at the small metal fortress the envoy had established around itself. Behind him stood Alen, Brig, and the psionic Pisces. The fortress that had lied dormant for nearly an entire week was now bustling with activity. According to Pisces, this happened immediately after a large scale psionic power and another being.
Before Jaxson could open his mouth to say anything Alen spoke up first with his smug voice. “You know if you’re just going to stare longingly at it all day we can leave, give you some Private time”. The emphasis was so heavy on private that even brig managed to grasp the juke before letting out a laugh. After the laughter died down Jaxsons frown becoming a simple sigh before he once again spoke up.
“Once again you all know that getting close to that thing means a very high chance of death right. There’s no coming back from it, not even a clerics resurrection or necromancers reanimation can go against an envoy”.
Alen looked at Jaxson with a smile painted on his lips. “We’ve followed your sorry ass so far why do you think that will change now, besides we’ve made it in once we can do it again the only difference is we have to sneak Pisces in but I mean he weighs probably like 90 pounds at best easy enough to carry”.
“I will take that as a compliment. Though I will let you know that there is a high chance that the envoy is expecting rogues and scouts to enter. They already know that Jaxson is capable of invisibility so I do ask that you all be careful seeing as I do not wish to be struck down by divine punishment”. Pisces spoke up for the first time since they had arrived on this overlooking hill.
This seemed to fill Jaxson with excitement as he began to chant his invisibility spell before they moved out. Alen and Brig each completing their own classes version of camouflage Alen seeming to blend and sink into the shadows around him and Brig soon being covered with a collection of dirt and leaves from the ground. Soon they all disappeared and began moving towards the fortress.
