Tell Me Again My Love - Chapter 564
They climbed up the stairs toward the entrance, joining other people who just arrived for the event. Mika handed her golden invitation card to the man at the registration desk before she smiled and nodded calmly as the man invited her to enter the area. It was the observation area for the VIPs and the race today was actually to get as much money as they could for the heart patients. Each person would have to pay 2k for entry and Mika actually paid 4k just so Ryn could accompany her. Then, for the money spent to choose the horse, every single cent would go to the foundation. Those who chose the winner would only get a medal. But all was not lost as they would be able to be served by Master Chef that was flown directly from his restaurant in N country after the race.
Mika took out the list of the racers and horses from the paper bag given at the registration desk. She found a seat to sit and crossed her legs as she looked at the information for each racer and horse. She leaned to the side to check what Ryn was choosing. She already had an idea which one to choose and wanted to know whether Ryn shared the same opinion. She would cover the cost, of course, as she was the one asking Ryn to come along.
“What do you think?” she asked Ryn.
“I don’t know,” Ryn replied. Even though she was holding the list, her mind was on other things. She did not know about horse racing and she had no idea how to choose.
“I’m thinking of number 4. The horse looks good and has good winning history,” Mika said as she pointed at the horse excitedly. “Number 7 looks good too.”
“You choose for me. I don’t mind,” Ryn handed the slip of paper to Mika. She still was clueless about which horse or racer to choose. What kind of requirement to determine how the horse perform?
Besides, Mika has more experience than her and she should know which one to choose. It was better to let Mika choose it for her.
Mika took the piece of paper and copied her choice on it. Then, she called for a man who was in charge of collecting the paper. She handed both papers to the man before she smiled at Ryn. “Let’s enjoy the race.”
Ryn smiled but it did not touch her eyes at all. She was thinking about what to pack and whether she would have time to buy some food before she would go to the airport with Mei Li. She did not want to eat at the airport tonight. She wanted to eat something delicious but cheaper.
Mika stood up when the race started. Despite not having the mood to come, once the race started, the excitement everyone else felt seeped into her as well. She cheered for the racer she chose, forgetting momentarily about Ryn.
Not all were excited about the race. Some girls who came actually were the partner for some of the men there and they started to coo and act coquettish for the man they came with, hoping their partner would only look at them and ignore the other women. They were worried actually when they saw Ryn and Mika come without any man.
Would their man leave them for the two women?
The women spent the time cooing at their man and throwing a warning glare at Ryn. They could not glare at Mika when she was joining the others cheering at the race. They could only glare at the only woman who was sitting boringly on her chair.
Do not ever think of stealing their man in front of their eye… or else…
Ryn, unaware of the threat she presented to other women, sighed as she looked at her phone boringly. She scrolled through her calendar and decided that after the training was over, she would take a long holiday to recuperate and no one could follow her. She wanted to be alone, maybe going to the island for a few days just to relax.
She read the message from Mei Li who was actually reminding her of the time for the flight and what time she would come to pick her up.
Ryn crossed her legs as she replied to the message. She then opened her Instagram account and realized she hasn’t posted the picture for today.
Ryn pursed her lips as she turned to look at Mika. Mika was screaming for her choice to go faster, even jumping a bit in excitement.
After a while, a warm smile appeared on her face. It was a sincere smile as she realized how much fun Mika was having despite saying that she would be bored when attending this event. Ryn did not think Mika needed her to accompany along as Mika was fine on her own.
Without thinking, Ryn lifted her hands and took a picture of the excited Mika. Then, she took a selfie of both of them when Mika noticed what she has just done and wrapped her arm around Ryn’s small waist.
“I’m thirsty. Let’s go to the refreshment area,” Mika said.
“You’re not looking at the race?”
“No need. Whichever won will not affect us,” Mika shrugged. It was just a moment of excitement and she was already satisfied with seeing her choice of horse manage to go faster just now. The end result was not that important anyway. If they won, they’ll get a medal to commemorate the winning and if the horse lost, they would not get anything but the delicious food. Either way, the money spent would go to a good cause so it did not matter which one.
Ryn shrugged. The money was Mika’s anyway so if her best friend did not care about winning, who was she to insist? With a linking hands, they walked to the refreshment area on the right side of the area.
Mika handed a small plate to Ryn and looked at the food available. There was not much varieties available, just sandwiches, cupcakes, salad and fruit. She sighed a bit as she scooped some salad onto her plate. She guessed the host was truly preparing them to enjoy the feast later, hence, only giving them such a small refreshment.
Once she was done, she made her way to the drink. She chose a glass of wine. Then, she waited for Ryn to finish taking what she wanted.
She was about to go to Mika when someone blocked her way. With her height and the heels, she did not have to look up too much but just tilted her head slightly to look at the leering man. She frowned.
“Excuse me,” despite the unhappiness in her heart for the rude attitude, she maintained a slight polite smile and excused herself.
“I’ve never saw you before. Are you new? Do you need any help around the place?” the man said but his eyes were not looking at her face but at her ċhėst.
The dress Mika chose for her to wear was quite snug and it wrapped around her body like a second skin, showing off all the curves she has.
“I’m sorry but no. Excuse me,” Ryn tried again to move but he did not allow her. When she tried to sidestep, he took a sidestep too to block the way.
“You’re blocking my way. Excuse me,” she pointed out with nary a smile. Her eyes narrowed, slowly brewing in anger. Despite how cool headed she was against the spoiled Mika, she does have temper especially when she has to deal with men who thought nothing of worth of women. That they thought they could get any woman they wanted just because they wanted and any rejection was not accepted.
His face changed. He no longer showed the leer or wicked playboy face but an angry man being rejected by someone who did not realize how lucky she was being picked by him, Young Master Lee.
He was in top five the most handsomest man in the country. All the women he laid his eyes upon should thank their parents for giving beautiful face and body for him to play with.
“Do you know who I am?” The man demanded arrogantly.
“Sorry, I don’t know you.. Excuse me,” Ryn sidestepped him and went to Mika who was looking at her phone and did not notice that her best friend was being harassed by the playboy.
