Tell Me Again My Love - Chapter 581
“Yup. It’s stated in the card. Look into the dashboard drawer. The card should be in it,” Mika instructed.
Ryn leaned forward to get the invitation card. As what Mika just said, the event was called Magic Charity Dinner with two pictures of a man doing some sort of magic trick.
“So are we going to watch a magic show?” Ryn asked with a smile on her face.
“I guess so. Not sure who the magician is, though,” Mika shrugged. She was not interested in any magic show, hence she did not recognize the man or his name. All she knew was that she would need to come to represent both families. But then again, Ryn could represent the Long while she represented her husband’s family.
Ryn looked at her best friend thoughtfully. It seemed like Mika has started to bring her to events that usually would not interest her so much. She guessed Mika has started to realize the importance of socializing and not only depending on her parents and Jeremy to do it while she chose and picked which event she wanted to go to. And sometimes, Ryn knew that none of them even bothered to attend if they did not feel like it.
But why was she being pulled along for this kind of event? She was just the family’s friend, well, Jeremy’s girlfriend. Usually, she was not involved in this. Well, to be exact, Jeremy was also not involved in this kind of thing because he was still a student and then a singer. It was not expected for him to do it yet.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Mika asked when she noticed the look.
“Nothing. I just want to know why you want to bring me along when I am not…”
“You’ll be sooner or later. You should start getting used to it,” Mika shrugged. She wanted Ryn to get used to being the wife of the CEO so that Ryn would not get overwhelmed when she married to Jeremy.
Ryn pinched between her brows. She wished she had a real headache now.
“Stop giving me that look. You have to get used to this life,” Mika said cheerfully. She already planned to bring Ryn along to all the events that her husband could not accompany her.
It would be fun and they could strengthen their friendship even more by going together. And they could even wear matching dresses and jewellery. Ooh… Mika could not wait for them to be known as twins.
Ryn crossed her arms and sighed as she looked outside the window. Somehow, by looking at that suspicious smug look on her best friend face, Ryn could guess what was in that silly girl’s mind. Later she needed to have a long talk with Jeremy. She needed him to stop Mika from continuing her plan.
She was happy that the Long family accepted her with open arms, unlike those typical rich families displayed in drama series that would not entertain to have a poor or lower status person to join in their families. Ryn understood her own family background and sometimes she did feel herself do not match with Jeremy because of their difference in status but… Her heart at that time. With the way the family and the siblings treated her, it made her forget about their differences.
But right now, she wished that they were not that close so she was not forced to do something that was not appropriate for her to attend… Yet.
She knew, just like Mika said, sooner or later she would need to attend these events… Once she married to Jeremy. But until then, she would rather spend her leisure time sleeping at home.
How she wished she agreed with Jeremy and rejected Mika’s invitation. The stress of trying to cramp everything into her head exhausted her so much that all she wanted was to sleep.
“We’re here,” Mika announced as the car stopped just right into the parking space. She turned off the engine and looked at her best friend proudly. “Marriage really suits me well. Can’t you see how perfect I parked the car today?”
Ryn shook her head in bemused. Marriage really suited Mika well. Ryn noticed that since the moment Mika became Jason’s wife, she could control her emotion better. Maybe because she was no longer under the stress of what the marriage would bring her and realized that the life of a wife suited her as she was pampered by her husband and in-laws.
She left the notebook and brought her handbag with her following behind Mika. They entered a saloon and two women quickly approached them and greeted them politely.
“Okay, are the dresses here? Where are my teams?” Mika asked as she sat on the couch and crossed her legs. Her handbag was put on the small round table at the side.
Ryn sat beside Mika and accepted the glass of fresh orange. She sipped it slowly while wondering how fresh the fresh orange was.
Two women came holding a dress each. Mika put down the glass and waved her hand.
Ryn ċȯċked an eyebrow. Did Mika just act like a spoiled socialite in front of everyone and no one said anything?
“These are the latest collection,” Mika said. She crossed her legs and walked to the changing room.
“And like usual we are a match,” Ryn murmured dryly.
“Of course. What else do you expect?” Mika replied cheekily.
Ryn rolled her eyes but still went into the dressing room beside the one Mika went into. She took the dress from the ȧssistant and closed the door. She twitched her lips when she saw that the women even prepared a pair of suitable undėrwėȧr to go with the dress.
She quickly changed into them and looked at herself in the mirror.
Mika has a good eye for fashion. Everything that she thought would look great would look great.
“I’ve told you we will look great,” Mika said happily as she looked at both of them in the mirror. The dresses did not look similar per se but together people would know they were from the same collection.
“Make-up and hair,” Mika said with a nod and waved her hand again.
The women who were attending them quickly led them to two swirling chairs in front of huge mirrors. Four people were already waiting for them while another one was carrying a tray of snacks and drinks.
“60s style,” Mika reminded the makeup artists and hairstylist as the best friends sat on the chair.
“I didn’t know there is a theme for the event,” Ryn murmured.
“Just a black tie but I want us to be different than the others. We’re special, aren’t we?”
“Whatever you said,” Ryn murmured. She was getting sleepy now and maybe a five minutes nap could make her feel fresh again.. Yes, just five minutes nap.
