Tell Me Again My Love - Chapter 586
Ryn stood beside Jacob silently. Jeremy tried to make her sit down but she refused when she noticed that it was rare for Jacob to sit down whenever he was reporting to Jeremy. She decided that it was only appropriate for her to follow suit and stood up as well.
Jacob tried not to wince when he saw how stubborn Ryn was. He did try to persuade her but she stubbornly said she always saw him standing up so why when it was her time, she was expected to sit down?
Hence, both ȧssistants stood up at the table while Jeremy crossed his arms with a frown.
The meeting was around twenty minutes before they went to the third floor for a meeting. Jacob deliberately walked slower to allow Ryn to walk in front of him.
Jacob opened the door of the meeting room as everyone in the room stood up. Jeremy sat on the chairman seat and signalled Ryn to sit on his right side. Jacob sat on his left side. He signalled everyone to sit down and they obeyed.
Ryn looked around and frowned when she noticed a hostile look coming from a woman. She glanced at the person and realised the person was the same one who ‘attacked’ her yesterday. Her lips twitched in bemuse.
This was going to be another interesting meeting.
“What’s wrong?” Jeremy asked when he noticed the look. He leaned toward her to ask her quietly.
“Nothing,” she replied, trying to hold the laughter, “this is going to be another interesting meeting?”
“Your fanatic fan is here,” she whispered, too happy not to share the news, “behave.”
His hand reached for hers and squeezed at her cheeky reminder.
“You behave.”
She made a face before coughed to remind him that they were not alone. She straightened her body and looked forward.
He did the same and cleared his throat to stop the whispers among the others. He started to speak once he saw everyone already giving their attention to him.
Lily tried to control herself. She thought today she finally has the chance she has been waiting for. She has worked hard to receive recognition from her leader and can represent her team to present to Jeremy. She also thought that the new woman understood her warning and quit her job yesterday. She could not believe how thick faced that woman was until she ignored her warning.
Lily gripped her fists and sank her teeth into her bottom lips to control herself.
Ryn ignored the daggers coming from Lily. She concentrated on what was discussed, especially when Jeremy commented on how to improve the plan. As she thought earlier, it was an interesting meeting, not because there was drama during the meeting but the glare from one particular person at her. Jeremy kept touching her hand, to warn her to control herself and not laugh. But it was hard. Imagine in a very sober meeting, a woman kept throwing daggers toward another person. Ryn bet everyone else noticed it as well.
It was quite awkward.
Everyone stood up when Jeremy stood up to leave the room after the meeting ended. Jeremy put a hand on Ryn’s back to urge her to walk, not to stay like Jacob. He did not want Ryn to be in trouble.
Lily almost dropped her pen and book when she saw that action. Her face turned pale.
“If you have any thought toward Boss, I suggest you to cancel it,” Jacob said quietly. He noticed the dagger from Lily to Ryn and only his professionalism stopped him from standing up and telling Lily to behave. “Assistant Ryn is Mrs Boss.”
Lily fell down on the floor. Her legs went weak. The new… The new worker is Mrs Boss and her… Did she scold Mrs Boss yesterday?
Most of the people in the meeting room looked at Lily but they no longer felt sympathy for her. Yesterday most of them sympathised with her but when she repeated her hostile attitude toward Mrs Boss, the sympathy disappear. They only hoped the boss would not blame their department for Lily’s attitude.
Jacob looked at Lily and shook his head. Then, he, carrying his book and file, walked to the elevator to go upstairs. He could not stay there anymore and witness what foolish action that foolish woman would do.
When he reached the elevator, the couple was no longer there. Jacob adjusted his hold and with another hand, pressed the buŧŧon to go up. He did not have to wait long before the door opened.
Ryn was already sitting at her desk when Jacob reached the office. He nodded at her and sat in his seat. Then, he logged into his email to check if there were new emails there. He already handed Ryn with her new phone and iPad. He already installed what was needed and even set the password. Just in case of anything, he created a document that list down the username and password. He showed it to Ryn before and even sent one copy to both her number phones.
He glanced at her and found her busy typing something. He guessed she was typing the things they discussed during the meeting. He noticed that she would type a report of the meeting she attended. He did not know whether it was compulsory from her university or she just wanted to do it. But he, since he worked here, was not expected to report unless he was the secretary of the meeting.
“Ryn, let’s go,” Jeremy called after twenty minutes. He was going to another meeting and Ryn would accompany him. Jacob would stay in the office.
Hopefully, she would agree to follow him tomorrow but seeing how she answered the message from her manager, he knew his chance was quite slim. Sigh…
He started the engine and set the location in the map apps. He adjusted the temperature and looked at her.
“Today is quite hectic but it is not always like this,” he told her. It was already 3.30 pm and he still has a meeting to attend. Later, he has to go straight to business dinner. If she was already exhausted, he decided to go alone. However, if she still wanted to follow him, he would allow her but would cut the meeting short so as not to make her lose too much sleep time.
It was a long meeting and when they came out from the meeting, it was almost the time for the business dinner. Before Jeremy could inform the other person that they would be a bit late, he saw from the corner of his eye that she already called that person to inform him that they were on the way and might be a bit late.
She smiled when she saw him looking at her. He wrapped his arm around her and pulled her closer. He rested his forehead against hers and whispered, “you’re getting used to being my ȧssistant, aren’t you?”
She smiled as she pushed him away gently. She did not want others to see them behaving intimately when they were still on the premise.
“Let’s go,” she said and walked to where he parked the car.
He started the engine obediently. But, instead of driving the car to the next location, he wrapped his arm around her neck and pulled her for a kiss. He could no longer hold himself. He needed to kiss her, to express his gratefulness and love toward her via a kiss.
“You…” she sighed when the kiss ended.
Just like they expected, they arrived later than the appointed time. However, none of the men who were waiting for them minded. They welcomed the couple cheerfully and called the waiter to come to take their order.
Ryn was mindful that she could not act like she normal do so she only asked for a plate of steak. Jeremy ċȯċked an eyebrow but he did not comment about that. Silently he decided that after this meeting, he would bring her to eat in another restaurant to her content. Just a plate of steak would not cover half of her stomach.
The meeting started with Jeremy once the waiter left. He did not want to waste anyone’s time anymore. The men were unhappy at first but as they were hoping to have a collaboration with the Long’s, they swallowed their unhappiness and tried their best to persuade Jeremy to agree with their proposal.
Ryn watched silently. Instead of writing all the details in the book, she actually secretly recorded the conversation. She was too hungry to even write down a word.
Food, where are you? I’m starving….
