Tfw You Are The System - Chapter 15 I Swear Im Not A Pedo
Han Xue then casted an impish look into Qiao He, who instantly got the shivers.
“Of course, our family’s Qiao’er will be the one paying, so eat up!” He said with a dark smile on his face.
Qiao He groaned and slumped onto the table.
His voice was slightly muffled as he exclaimed, “I should’ve known something was up when you asked me to meet you here”
Han Xue shrugged.
“Who cares, you’re rich anyways.”
Lan Wei casted a look at Qiao He.
“Anything will be fine.” Lan Wei said.
Of course, Han Xue was not happy with his reply, stomping on Lan Wei’s foot. Lan Wei kicked him in return.
“Aiya, Lan Wei, you’re so boring sometimes. So dark. Won’t you liven up a little?” Han Xue asked, much to the amusement of Qiao He, who instantly started another conversation.
Lan Wei tuned both of them out. He stared at the people in the streets.
Lan Wei’s poison
Big Sis hadn’t found anything on the wall of screens. They had no leads other then the Spirit Flower. Kian had wanted to check the manor’s library, but Jia Xinyue reckoned that if Lan Wei was truly biding his time, anything useful in the manor would’ve been sniffed out by him.
Kian still checked the library. Nothing. Luckily, the system’s translator was all-knowing and translated everything he saw, which made him sigh in relief. Things would be so much harder if he couldn’t read anything in this world.
Time was running out.
There was only about 3 weeks left before the trial for Jiang Academy commenced.
“Stop daydreaming, Lan Wei!”
Lan Wei took a deep breath and brought his attention back onto the other two.
The table in front of him was filled to the brim with fish, vegetables, and most of all, meat. Lan Wei glanced a bit at Han Xue, unsure.
Han Xue understood immediately what he meant, and laughed heartily.
“My love, it’s fine! Qiao He and I are both big eaters.”
“Of course, I’ll have room for dessert…that only you can give to me.” Han Xue sent a wink in Lan Wei’s direction.
Lan Wei scoffed and picked up his chopsticks.
Qiao He raised an eyebrow at Han Xue. He pointed at Han Xue with his chopsticks and exclaimed, “Really? Right in front of my food?”
Han Xue guffawed and slapped his knee.
“Anyways, Qiao He, did you bring the money?” He asked as he picked up a piece of steamed chilli fish.
Qiao He nodded enthusiastically, his cheeks filled with food as he continued to pile more and more food onto his bowl, which was already beginning to overfill.
Lan Wei sighed inside in relief. At least the money problem was solved for now. He still needed to find a reliable way to have a continuous stream of cash.
But he knew nothing about making money!
[Guess it’ll be up to Big Sis I don’t trust these two.]
The three of them continued to eat, with Han Xue and Qiao He exchanging stories and jokes. Lan Wei listened and sometimes made a snarky remark, but that was about it.
At the end, when the maid had brought away all the dishes, Qiao He finally brought up the reason why they met today- the money!
“Right, so there’s about 1 million gold coins in here, which you can exchange for 5 million silver or 1 crystal jade. I don’t know what you guys are up to, but this should be enough for most stuff.” Qiao He said whilst he dug around in his purse, searching.
He handed over a green crystal card to Lan Wei, who studied it carefully. There was a number of ornate carvings on the card. A phoenix carving with exactly 8 feathers stood out from the rest. Each of the feathers was white, and seemingly pulsing with an unknown energy.
Qiao He noticed Lan Wei’s quizzical state and asked-
“Lan Wei, do you know how to use these?”
Lan Wei shook his head, and handed the card over to Han Xue, who began to explain.
“It’s really easy to understand. Each of the feathers show how much money is left inside the card. Depending on the colour of the card, feathers represent a different amount of money. For this green card, each feather represents around 12500 gold coins.”
“I heard they released a new card now? The colourless one?” Qiao He asked.
“Yeah, but to be honest, colourless is a pain. So easy to lose.” Han Xue shook his head in disappointment.
“But you need to have at least started gathering energy. Lan Wei, how old are you?” Qiao He asked.
Lan Wei looked Han Xue straight in the eyes as he replied to Qiao He, “I’m 13.”
Han Xue spat out the tea he drank, which sprayed all over the other two. He sputtered and looked at Lan Wei incredulously. Even Qiao He was a little shaken from this revelation, as he stared at Lan Wei with wide eyes.
Han Xue wiped his mouth with his robe. His voice was shaky as he nervously asked,
“Are you telling me I’ve been flirting with a kid?”
His entire face turned pale. It was quite a sight to see, and Lan Wei wished he could take a photo to show to Big Sis.
Han Xue tottered out of his chair and opened a nearby window.
“Hey, Han Xue! There’s no need to go that far!” Qiao He yelled and yanked Han Xue from the window.
Han Xue’s spirit seemed to have floated away, as he wandered outside the private room and out into the streets. Qiao He panicked and quickly paid for the meal before shoving his whole bag along with the card at Lan Wei.
“There’s some stuff you might find useful in there. I’ll go take care of Han Xue.”
With that said, Qiao He fled in search of the zombie-like Han Xue.
Lan Wei shrugged, and made his way back into the manor. He made sure to change clothes and apply his deathly makeup.
He hid the bag Qiao He gave him up on a tree which towered over the manor, and hoped for the best. There was no way he could sneak something of that size into the manor.
He then proceeded to cover himself in dust, and walked back to the main entrance of the manor.
