Tfw You Are The System - Chapter 16 Jia Xinyue Is A Total Foodie..
Jia Xinyue laid on the ground, staring at the endless white sky. She had long ago given up on finding anything, and cat videos had finally became boring.
Suddenly, she heard a zAP, which meant that Kian was back!
“Kian! You’re finally back.”
It wasn’t fair! Kian could go out, he could go explore the world. What did she get? A bunch of computer screens and an endless white space. To be honest, if she could binge on anime and dramas then that would be another situation…but she can’t.
Jia Xinyue noticed something off about Kian. In his hand was a pouch? It was made of fine-quality silk, with pictures of pale pink peonies embroidered on the front. A thought suddenly occurred to her, and she sat up, her eyes bright.
“Wait, you can bring stuff into here?” She asked.
Kian nodded, much to her delight. She clapped her hands and immediately ordered Kian to-
“Kian, listen to me. Go out right now and buy me all the snacks on the street.”
Kian froze. He tilted his head with a confused expression on his face. Wasn’t the bag of more importance right now? Why did a system require snacks?
Kian felt pity for the machine. She must think that she’s so human to the point where she craved food.
“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” Jia Xinyue demanded. She pouted as she thought about all the stuff she would have ate if Kian had bought stuff inside sooner.
Kian shrugged and said off-handedly, “Never had a chance to take stuff in here. I thought since my whole body changes I couldn’t bring stuff in.”
Jia Xinyue waved her hand impatiently.
“Well at least we know it now. Go bring me some food!” She said as she pointed arrogantly at Kian, who rolled his eyes.
Just as he was about to exit, a thought suddenly occurred to him.
“Wait. Can systems even digest food?” He asked.
Kian’s mind flew back to the time when they first met. Big Sis, System 57, had obviously been malfunctioning at the start…it seemed fine now, apart from the sentiency it developed.
“I hope you don’t malfunction” He said with crossed eyebrows as he looked worriedly at Jia Xinyue.
Jia Xinyue shrugged.
“Well, I’m not a system so I don’t think that would happen.” She said off-handedly.
Kian was stunned, “Big Sis, didn’t you tell me you were System 57 when we first met?”
Now it was Jia Xinyue’s turn to be frozen. See, she had been distracted every time she had tried to explain to Kian that she was actually a human, that she ended up forgetting to tell him. But he really had the most squishable cheeks!
“Oh. Oh yeah. Well, you see-” She stuttered, lost on how to explain her bizarre situation.
She took a deep breath, and started again.
“Due to some weird guy, I got sent into here as a system.”
The more she thought about Wang Feng, the more she wanted to strangle his neck for sending her here. He was the cause of her death in the first place too!
“I assure you I’m human. A living and breathing human.” She finished as she stared into Kian’s eyes.
Kian looked suspicious.
“That sounds like something a machine would say.” He said with narrowed eyes.
Jia Xinyue rolled her eyes.
She shrugged and said, “Anything sounds suspicious, to you.”
She heaved another deep sigh and stood up, stretching her arms along the way. With one hand on Kian’s shoulder, she finally introduced herself to him for the first time. Which is, honestly, if she thought about it, pretty sad.
“Anyways, my real name is Jia Xinyue BUT, I like you calling me Big Sis. I’ll call you brat every now and then.”
Kian realised at that moment, that she wasn’t lying.
[At least that clears everything up]
But now, he was stuck with a overbearing older sister who liked to order him around!
“Of course, that’s filled with love.” She said with a flourish and sat back down, looking pleased with herself.
“Now go get me food.”
“Bring me some books too!”
She needed the two things girls crave most in the world food and good quality entertainment! It was too bad she couldn’t find any dramas or else her life would be complete.
Kian wanted to face palm she seemed to have dropped all pretenses and was now treating him like some kind of slave.
Were all siblings like this? Kian had been an only child in his previous life.
[Oh well.]
He rolled his eyes at Jia Xinyue’s antics and exited the space.
Jia Xinyue was now hyped up, and decided to search for any information on the Spirit Flower in the Jiang Academy database. To her surprise, there was actually information on the damn thing, complete with pictures and a brief description.
“Rare flower with deadly poison running through its veins- no sh*t- methods to prepare poison-”
Lan Wei had been poisoned to that extent, so the Spirit Flower must be something like nightshade? She knew nothing about plants okay! She majored in arts and law- a weird combination, but it’s her life. She could do whatever.
Until she died because of some dumb watermelon head.
“What is this school? School of how to poison?”
Why are there so many ways to kill using this one flower? Where is the antidotes?! Jia Xinyue continued to scroll past the endless ways on how to extract poison, until she finally hit what she was looking for.
“Ah! Here it is! Countered by the Five Flame Pill, Eight Colour Lotus, and the Reviving Pill.”
Only three items can counter this? Isn’t this way too overpowered? Jia Xinyue’s eyebrows furrowed. How did Lan Fei even get a hold of this?
“The Reviving Pill sounds so cool.”
It sounded like one of those legendary pills that only the protagonist could refine in those novels! With that legendary pill, the protagonist was never short of money, and never short of people willing to protect them.
[That would be nice…but none of us can do alchemy. Or medicine.]
She clicked onto the next cure.
“Eight Colour Lotus ah, f*ck me. One of the most rare plants in the continent? Able to cure everything and improve your energy channels?”
She groaned and threw her head back as she screamed at the endless white sky.
She had to get rid of her frustrations somehow, okay?!
“There’s no way Kian can find that…if only if I had some sort of method to contact him from inside.” She muttered under her breath.
ZAP!
Kian was back! Jia Xinyue swore she could smell the food he brought already. She rushed up to him and snatched all the food in his hands and began to unpack the food he brought.
They were mostly Chinese cuisine, with elements of Japanese and Korean mixed throughout.
[Wow, so this world really is kind of an East Asian theme. Or should I say, Eats Asian because I’m hungRY]
She began to eat, as she moaned with her mouth full of food-
“I feel like I haven’t eaten in weeks.”
Kian rolled his eyes. He had already had his lunch. He turned his attention back onto the pouch that Qiao He had passed onto him before he left, and turned all the contents onto the floor.
Jia Xinyue finished chewing and ordered, “Kian, your next task is to bring your big sis a bed.”
“How?!”
“Figure it out. I know you’re smarter than you look.” Jia Xinyue went back to eating.
She noticed the pouch in Kian’s hands, and asked-
“Have you seen what’s inside the bag yet?”
Kian gestured at the mess on the floor.
He listed all the things he could recognise, “There’s a card, some potions, a couple medicinal bottles filled with pills, and a…box?”
Jia Xinyue stopped chewing and stared at the box in fascination. It was made out of mahogany wood, and had beautiful carvings of ancient beasts and symbols.
“Can you open it?” She asked.
Kian frowned and fumbled at the clasp.
“I think so.” He replied.
With a bit of effort, he finally managed to open the box, and inside of the box, sitting on a black velvet cushion, was a lotus in eight different colours. A cold mist was trailing outside of the box, and the lotus seemed to glimmer like dew drops on cobwebs in the early dawn.
Jia Xinyue stared at the lotus in amazement.
“Heavens are truly looking upon us today! I think that’s the Eight Colour Lotus!” She exclaimed.
She stood up in excitement. This caused all her food to spill to the ground, which made her heart hurt a little. She ignored it, and continued to stare at the lotus.
“Eight Colour Lotus?” Kian asked curiously.
It sounded important for her to have such a reaction. Kian had been on the end of one too many food-related rants to not realise that Jia Xinyue was a true foodie, through and through!
“Extremely rare, but it can cure your poison! The preparation method is simple too- just eat it. It also helps your cultivation.” Jia Xinyue explained excitedly, flinging her hands in the air.
“Quickly, go out and eat it. We need all the time we can get. Also, remember to get me a bed, now.” She ordered, before sitting back down to finish her meal.
Kian rolled his eyes, but he could feel the excitment coming off of her in waves. He was also excited too- finally, there wouldn’t be anymore bone-rending pain in Lan Wei’s body. He could train for the trial for Jiang Academy. They were finally one step closer to their goal.
“Okay, okay, I’m going!” He said, with his hands in a defensive position as he left Jia Xinyue alone with her food.
Bringing the Eight Colour Lotus, he found a quiet spot in the Lan Manor.
