“Good mor…A-are you okay?”

The next morning, I go to train but when I meet Lanuvel, she looks at me like some sort of mysterious creature. The reason? Some gnoll didn’t find anything better to do than punching me with full strength. I can’t see with my left eye right now because it is too swollen and I am pretty usre I must have lost some teeth as well. I can’t even speak since my mouth is swollen as well.

“Hm…yeah, I will do that.”

We start our training but thirty minutes later, the heroes arrive as well.

“Hello, guys. You are early birds as well.”

I simply wave my hands at Roxcia to answer. Unlike Lanuvel, she doesn’t seem surprised to see my face. Or maybe she just doesn’t care.

“How are you, Lanuvel? Did you try that tea I brought?” She switches to Lanuvel and leaves me with Excia and Farner. Farner walks past me like I am some tree in a forest then starts swinging her sword around. Her swings are so powerful the snow disperses every time her sword moves.

“You did something again, right?” Excia touches my shoulder while looking at her.

“Po. I Fifn.”

“Yeah, I can see that. Anyway, she might be rough but still, she is delicate so treat her with care, okay?”

Wait, who?! Farner?! Delicate?!! Bullshit!

“Excia, you aren’t training?”

“I am coming.” Farner calls Excia and they both start working out together.

On the other side, Lanuvel has started training with Roxcia. Weren’t you training with me? Well, since I am alone, I might as well do what I want.

Since I have awakened the dragon heart like Cissa called it, I can feel the flow of Angas inside my body and around it as well. There is one thing that I have been meaning to try ever since: flying. Up until now, flying didn’t feel natural enough. It was always like I was forcing something. And that’s a problem for me.

I release and focus my aura around my body: wind and light Angas first. By closing my eyes, I can feel the flow of energy going from my chest to my arms and legs then outside my body. But although the flow is good, I don’t leave the ground. I use earth Angas as well and finally; I feel myself lighter. And here it is. The point where I feel somehow uncomfortable.

When wind and earth blend together, they don’t mix well. I can feel the two types of Angas confronting inside inside my body as they both try to get out. From the looks of it, even if I use more Angas, it won’t solve the problem. Could it be that Excafol was wrong?

“H…He…Hey Kevin!”

“Hey!!” As I open my eyes, I see the scenery moving in front of my eyes at a fast pace.

“Yeav, khy?” I clean the snow around my neck and on my head while answering. Why do they look so surprised?

Farner’s screams, blended with the others reactions, almost busted my ears. Did they have to scream like that?

“I don’t believe it!” Roxcia reaches me in two steps and grabs me by the collar. “I know that Areal acceleration can make you hover around a little at most but I never heard of a script that makes you flight. There are no records of it!! Ever!!”

“Calm down, Roxcia.”

“No, Farner!! How can I calm down?!! This guy is a liar!!”

“But you just saw him as well. He was at least five meters above ground.”

“I don’t care!”

I lightly touch her hands but it doesn’t look like she is about to release me.

“Okay, okay. First things first, release him. You will tear his shirt down.” Thanks, Farner.

As she says that, Roxcia finally releases me and backs a step away. She then holds her chest and regulates her breathing.

“Fuuu…Okay. Sorry, I didn’t meant to act like this.”

“It’s nothing.” Finally, my mouth is healed enough for me to speak normally. Thanks, my dragon soul. All hail Cissa.

“Farner, can’t you do something about his face?!”

“Who else could have made him look like that?!”

“AHahahah!!” Excia and Lanuvel start laughing behind them. They were watching until now like we were clowns.

If there is something I have to admit, it would be that this atmosphere isn’t bad. Seeing people laugh like that, smiling, happy. I can’t help but remember our small hut in Karnados. The good time we had there, roasting potatoes, training, laughing… Excafol, Selene, I couldn’t protect you. I wasn’t strong enough to do it. Can I really protect those happy moments I am living now?
