THAT DAY I BECAME A STAR - Chapter 204
I don’t know how or why, but currently, Farner and Lanuvel are in my room. Sitting on the chair and the bed respectively, glaring at me so intensely I might start bleeding.
“Why are guys-”
“We asked you something. You better answer.” Farner looks so dead serious I don’t think I can get out of this situation easily.
“I can’t tell you. Sorry.” Frankher hasn’t given us permission to tell people about our missions and I think he made sure no one would ask about it because nobody asked me anything after the incident with the Longinus prince.
“You were doing something dangerous again, right?”
“…”
“Do you want to die that badly? Was the last time not enough!!! What is wrong with you?!!” Farner shouts so loudly the whole room trembles.. Lanuvel just has her eyes closed but her mood is pretty much the same.
Farner stands up and reaches me in only three steps. She grabs me by the collar and pins me on the door.
“You don’t have to be so upset.”
“Upset?!!! You think I am upset?!!! Oh no! No, no, no! I am not upset!! I am going to pound it in your head that-”
“Farner, please calm down.” Lanuvel stands up as well then comes and holds Farner’s shoulder.
“How can I stay calm, Lanuvel?!! This idiot doesn’t even care about his life!”
“Listen there, I-”
“Shut up!!” Farner tightens her grip even more. “Shut up or I swear on my mother’s name that I will break your neck myself right now.”
Well, this time, she is mad as hell. The only real question I have is who told her I wasn’t in my room?
I can’t read Farner’s thoughts so I look at Lanuvel but apparently, Farner is the one who called her. So, the mystery lies with who inform her.
***
Until morning, I had to kneel in front of them and listen to Farner’s lecture on the value of my life. The only thing I remember from it is that she said my life isn’t mine alone anymore. I don’t really understand what she meant by that. Sadly, I was in no position to ask or even talk.
As the sun rises, they both go back to their room and I use that opportunity to sleep as well. When I wake up, it is around midday. I get out of my room and go to the hall.
“Good morning. Can I get something to eat?” I ask the first butler I meet if there is any food. I am quite hungry.
“Of course, Sir. Also, Master has requested to you all return to the eternal academy tomorrow.”
“I see. Thank you.”
“It’s nothing, sir.”
Let’s go to the library and read while they prepare the food. When I enter the library, I find Cordel inside, reading a white book.
“Good morning.”
“Oh, Kevin.Good morning. You overslept?”
“Yeah, I was a bit tired.”
“I see.”
Wait, thinking about it, Cordel’s room isn’t far from mine. Could he be?
‘It seems Miss Farner yells at him more than I thought she would.’ I read his mind and my suspicions are pinpointed.
Yep, just like I thought. He is the snitch. So Cordel, you are not only a liar and a coward, but a snitch as well. Though, I don’t want to blame him too much for being a snitch. I will suppose he was just worried about me. For now, at least.
The butler brings me some cakes, a cup of tea and a sandwich. I eat while reading then goes to my room. Cordel stayed the whole time and even after me. He seems quite focused on his book. I wonder what it is talking about.
In the afternoon, I go to the garden and check a last time if everything is fine. I don’t really care about it but since it represents the precious memories Keltia had with her mother, it should remain the way it was.
“You don’t have to worry. We will make sure that it returns to its original state by the time you come back.”
The same butler as ever comes and speaks to me while I am looking at the tree stump. It is after all the only thing I couldn’t repair.
“Thank you. Though, I would have preferred to be the one to handle it.”
“Sir seems to be a thorough one.”
“Not really, I just preferred to bear the responsibilities of my actions. Whenever I am able to do so.”
“And that is admirable, Sir.”
“I don’t think so. Not in my case at least.”
“And why is that?”
“Don’t worry about it. I am merely thinking out loud.”
“I see.” I must really have a weird face for him to look at me like that.

The next morning, we depart in the early morning and once again pass by at the same village, with its luxurious inn in the evening. From what Frankher explained. This place is the result of stupidity and greed. This village was given by the king to a third-degree noble just like me.
But the guy decided to sign a contract with another noble outside Syldavie in exchange for a month’s salary then fled from the place. The inn is apparently owned by that noble and the guy doesn’t give a shit about the villagers. The king hasn’t made a move because it would tarnish his reputation to retake something he gave of his own free will and because there are people waiting for things like that to act against him.
“Politic is too complicated.”
“What?”
“Nothing.” Even though the king is a man, he isn’t allowed to make mistakes or come back on his decisions. I find it stupid.
I woke Samson up with my comment as he is sitting with me in the carriage. Now that I think about it.
“Samson, the others told me you are married. Is it true?”
“Yeah?” He looks at me with a somehow surprised expression.
“What?”
“Nothing. Just you and I never truly talked.”
“Well, you are the type of guy I like the most. Doesn’t ask questions, mind only his business…”
“That’s only with you, though.”
“And it is even better that way.”
“You mean Lanuvel is like that too?”
“Eh?” Why does he bring her name in our conversation?
“We all know you two are an item. I even saw her kissing you.”
“So you weren’t sleeping as well…” His heartbeat didn’t increase from I remember, though.
“Not really. I was alone after all.”
“And where is your wife?”
“LAETICIA VULKAN. That’s her name. She is studying at the academy of the Yris kingdom.”
“She isn’t from Syldavie?”
“Neither am I. We are both from Yris.”
“But you still chose to come to the eternal academy.”
“Yes. I wanted to travel a bit.”
“I see.”
We pass by the inn but don’t stop. We will travel through the night, then?
***
We reach Mercuria in the middle of the early morning of the next day. Why are they in such a hurry? The carriages continue on and then, instead of the academy, we stop in front of the church.
“Why did they bring us here?”
“I don’t know.” Even Samson doesn’t seem to know.
We get down and as soon I look around, there are knights and priests all around. As the heroes come down from the other carriage as well, the doors of the church opens and Rebecca comes out of it together with the pope, William and even Dilt.
It seems there is a problem. A big one.
