THAT DAY I BECAME A STAR - Chapter 367
WILLIAM KOERSOMBRE POV:
“Hurry up!!”
After the heroes departed, I am trying to make the army move as fast as I can but somehow, there is a clear lethargy among the soldiers. It’s true that it has always been like this when they aren’t around. But I don’t know why it makes me so angry today.
“Sir, we should just go by ourselves.”
“Yeah, maybe you are right, Dolor. But I have a bad feeling about all this.”
I hope I will be able to cope with whatever happens.
“Sir?”
“Let’s leave the horses here.. They won’t be of much use.”
“Okay.”
“Dolor, Andre, Lenon. You guys stay here and protect the Saintess.”
“Yes, sir.”
“The rest of you guys, let’s go and show the heroes our devotion.”
“Yeah!!”
We get on foot and advance towards the dome. After a few minutes, we arrive at the dangerous area and the welcoming party is ready for us.
“Kriekk!!”
“Prators incoming!!” Three at once? What a welcoming party. “Teams of two!!”
We are seven people so I will move freely and help anyone who needs it.
“Yes, sir!”
“Kriekk!!”
“Orahh!!” I use Titanic slash on the first prator and its big claws-covered hand manages to block some of it. Still, I slash his other shoulder.
“Kriekk!”
I hear something coming from behind so I jump to the side, right after me, a firestorm comes and sweeps it, burning the prator to a crisp. That’s one down.
The others have also rapidly take care of their own opponents. We can’t waste more time here.
“Let’s go!!”
I push forward and Longinus just keep coming. We fight our way through without too much trouble until we reach them. And when we do, I am forced to wonder.
“Is this really the same world we live in…”
Has anyone ever feel pity for the Longinus? If they did, would they beg the heroes to stop seeing this?
The scene in front of us brings me to the edge. Scripts, swords’ slashes, flying arrows…There are three people fighting a horde of hundreds…of a thousand even. And yet, it is as if the horde of thousands is fighting against those three. I always get entranced by that view and now is just another one of those times.
“Kriekk!!”
“Sir!!” I got so distracted I don’t notice a vanguard attacking me from the side. Thankfully, the guys are here.
“S-sorry. Alright!! Since the hero, Miss Roxcia, is the only one who isn’t flying. We will establish a perimeter around her to ease her task!” When I turn around, she unleashes a firestorm that sweeps up and burn more than ten Longinus all by herself. Maybe she doesn’t need protection after all? No, there is no way she can see everywhere so we will do it. “Let’s go!!”
“Yes, sir!”
We cut through the Longinus on our path then reach the hero and stand around in a half-circle.
“What are you guys doing?”
“From now on, you don’t need to look behind. We will do it for you.”
“What could you possibly do?”
“Kriekk!”
A dall jumps on me but receives an arrow from the left and a water ball from the right. Then I cut his head with an overhead strike and it starts fading as his crystal falls to the ground.
“This, for example.”
“Hmph. Do as you wish.”
“We will, don’t worry.”
***
“Where are they already, dammit?!!”
We have been fighting for more than five fucking minutes now. Where the main army.
“Kriekk!!”
And the Longinus’ number is diminishing at all. Every time we kill some, others pop out of the dome like cockroaches. Somebody needs to enters and destroy this thing while we are fighting. There are so many things to do and nobody is here right now.
“Judgment!!” All of sudden, miss Roxcia unleashes a script so powerful the ground shakes behind us and light illuminates the place.
When we turn around, the ground is burnt everywhere and there are no Longinus facing her. Most of them are at least fifteen meters away, though they are still coming like nothing just happen. Also, Miss Roxcia’s breathing is a bit rough. I hope she isn’t giving out more than necessary. This fight doesn’t look like it will end anytime soon.
“First line!! Fire!!!!”
Finally, a voice we have been waiting for resounds in our ears. A volley of a hundred arrows then falls on the Longinus and explode, slaying most of those that got hit.
Then the army arrives, lined up soldiers holing their shields first, then knights on horses, with the saintess encircled by the three guys I left behind. The archers must be at the back.
“The army is here!! Victory cannot escape now! Let’s do this guys!!”
“Yeah!!”
“Roxcia, you okay?”
Right as I motivate my men, the heroes land beside their sister, and Miss Excia touches her shoulder.
“Would it matter if I wasn’t? Focus on your own fight and leave me alone.”
“Well, since the archers are here, we can’t continue flying around or we will be hit as well so…” Miss Farner looks like she wants to apologize. Her voice sounds like it at least.
“I didn’t ask you anything.”
“Kriekk!”
While they are discussing like nothing, Longinus once again come out of the dome that gets brighter and brighter. Unlike the other times so far, it doesn’t return to its black color now. What is happening?
“Tch.” Miss Farner brandishes her sword but I stand before her and cut down the vanguard that was coming.
“Don’t worry. We can hold on while you guys rest for a while.”
“As expected of his father.”
“What?”
“No, nothing.”
No, you definitively said something just now. And now that I think about it, this is not the first time you said something like this. I heard you saying ‘is that why he is so strong as well?’ Like you were referring to someone who is related to me.
This is starting to become more and more suspicious. Especially if I consider what their friend said before leaving.
“This can’t be, right?” I mean, there is no way it is possible.
“Kriekk!!” Because, if it is then…then…Am I actually a dumbass?
