The Almighty Tyrant - Chapter 72 Suspicions
After reading through all of the words written on the screens that stacked on top of each other in front of Shi Li’s face, he prompted all of the screens to close and let him enter the so-called Mental Tree’s Shop.
But before he could do so, the tower’s mechanical voice spoke out.
“The cultivator shall have 5 minutes of rest before the final test, please use this time to the fullest.”
Hearing that the amount of time was reduced to 5 minutes, Shi Li threw the thought of entering the shop into the back of his head and sat down as he complained.
“What the heck?! 5 minutes of rest before the third test? I know it’s like the last test and this trial will be over, but even the previous 20 minutes of rest will be enough for me to check the shop out in its entirety!”
Having no choice, he gradually calmed his breath and did a few sets of stable and long breaths. For each set he finished, he could feel that all of the anger and stress he felt was being washed away.
‘Wow. I knew it was effective in regenerating mental energy, but even though this is the second time I’ve done this, it still amazes me,’ Shi Li couldn’t help but mutter as he continued to meditate.
Meditation is a way to ponder over one’s self and cleanse the impurities of the mind. In his previous life, meditation was mainly attributed to qi cultivation, which was definitely not the case. Even though they look the same, they do different things.
After the five minutes were up, Shi Li opened his eyes as he let out a breath.
At that exact moment, the tower’s voice spoke out once more, explaining the third test.
“The third test shall check the cultivator’s will in life, those that have the same will as the tower shall pass this test with a Perfect Score. Those that don’t shall be given a consolatory reward before being teleported away from the tower.”
“Let the test begin.”
Shi clan, outside the Shi Trial Tower.
Swoosh!
Multiple silhouettes appeared not far away from the massive hole on the ground, alerting Shi Xingwan and Senior Yan to look at the faces of the members.
With their keen eyes, they could see that 7 members were kicked out of the tower. The two of them were shocked to see that Shi Heishen, one of the two Organ Tempering realm cultivators that entered the tower was kicked out. But what shocked them even more was
Shi Li wasn’t included in the members who were kicked.
With this surprise, Shi Xingwan instantly put on an amicable smile and asked the members, “How were your experiences in the tower?”
Being in front of the patriarch, they didn’t dare to answer simultaneously, maintaining a sense of order between them.
Some of the members said that due to a hapless mistake, they were kicked out of the tower before they even had the chance to retaliate.
A few told their experience in the tower being harder than the ones explained by their parents and friends that attempted the tower before.
As for the sole Organ Tempering realm cultivator in the group, Shi Heishen replied in a straightforward manner
“The second test was multiple times harder than before. Instead of bombarding us with blasts of mental energy, we were instead sucked into an illusionary realm, which we had no idea how to get out of.”
Hearing Heishen’s explanation, Shi Xingwan’s eyes slightly widened. ‘So that means Shi Li was also brought into an illusionary realm?’
His head slowly turned towards Senior Yan, only to see that Senior Yan was looking at him as well. A glint flashed in both of their eyes, prompting them to nod as if they understood what each side meant.
They then looked back at the members and this time, it was Senior Yan’s turn to talk. “Okay, I’m sure you’ve gotten something good from the tower like everyone else does. Go ahead and tell your parents about it or go into a secluded cultivation to improve yourselves.”
He then lightly smirked as he continued. “Remember to head to the Logistics Hall to grab a free Grade 0 Pill that boosts your cultivation!”
The members’ eyes lit up as they heard this. Most of the members’ cultivation has stagnated to a point where they can only trudge onwards. Even Shi Heishen’s eyes lit up as he needed a force to allow him to break through to the Peak of the Tempering realm.
After a while, all of them bowed respectfully to Shi Xingwan and Senior Yan before heading back to their own courtyards, either to tell their parents or cultivate.
Seeing that they were left alone, Shi Xingwan’s smile was wiped off, being replaced with an expression that could only come from intense shock!
“Shi Li escaped the illusion right?”
Senior Yan shrugged as he replied with a doubtful tone. “I don’t know, I didn’t even teach him the skill on how to escape illusions. Maybe his mental energy is stronger than others so it allows him to endure for longer.”
“How about Shi Huoyang?” Shi Xingwan asked as he saw that this kid didn’t get kicked out of the tower as well.
“Maybe he’s similar to Shi Li, born with a greater amount of mental energy. They eventually leave the tower.”
“Eventually.”
At the instant the tower was finished speaking, Shi Li’s visual senses were numbed again, just like what he experienced in the first test. He still wanted to know how it was being done, but I guess it would remain a mystery until then.
All of a sudden, he felt as if his consciousness was shutting down, making him realize…that the thing from the second test was going to happen once more.
“Oh shi”
Plop!
Shi Li’s body sprawled on the floor in a way that looked like he was exhausted both mentally and physically.
But in the depths of his soul
He could see that his surroundings were filled with lush trees and vividly colored plants. He can even see that he has a full body, unlike what happened in the second test where only his sense of sight and hearing was carried over.
He moved his limbs only to see that his limbs moved just like in reality, making him want to walk forward as he surveyed the surroundings.
“Since this is a test of checking the cultivator’s will, I wonder how it’ll go.”
He continued to walk until gradually, the trees and shrubs surrounding him turned into concrete walls filled with intricate carvings as a wooden throne lined with golden borders came into his view.
Not long after, a person appeared out of thin air as it sat on the throne. It was a man that exuded an aura of magnanimity on the outside as its eyes screamed wisdom and decisiveness, showing that he held a lot of experience. His aura was quite suffocating though, due to the fact that one of his seals were removed.
But the appearance of the man, his light yellow hair that looked like yellow rice noodles and his yellow irises, was enough for Shi Li to get into a battle stance and scream out
“Huang Tiankong!”
