The Alpha’s Companion - Chapter 55
Lacey sent word out to the other packs right away, just like Julien had asked. But instead of just sending word to the Shadow Pack and Silver Pack, she decided to visit both herself.
“I promise, I won’t be gone long,” Lacey said to Julien the night before she left. Lacey hated to leave him, but she wanted to make the plea to her birthfather, Arkin, in person.
Julien looked into her eyes, his hands on her shoulders. “I wish I were going with you. But I’m sending Brogan with you. He will protect you and keep you safe.”
Lacey wrapped her arms around his neck, knowing this would be the last time she would see him for a few days. “I can keep myself safe.” Then she kissed the tip of his nose.
But his eyes were serious, pained even, as he laced his fingers through the side of her hair, holding her head still to look deeply into her eyes. “I know you can, but take Brogan. If you want more warriors to go with you, I’ll give the order.”
She smiled as she looked up at him. “No. Brogan will be enough. Besides, Arkin will keep me safe.” Even though she didn’t know him well, she was sure that her birthfather would guard her with his life. “Also, I’m sure he would want to know about the threat of war personally.”
Julien nodded. “I just hate for you to leave without me… especially after what the Wildclaws just pulled. If something were to happen to you—” He bit his lower lip, unable to finish the sentence.
“Ssshhh….” She pressed a finger on his lips. “Nothing is going to happen to me.”
Julien scoffed. “Don’t make promises you can’t keep.” He started to walk away.
But Lacey caught his hand, pulling him to her. She hadn’t been bold in saying what she wanted from him… until now. But he was her mate… and she was going to claim what was hers.
His breath quickened, looking into her eyes for acceptance as she gently gripped his mouth. Then he turned his head, gently biting her thumb, and then kissed it, causing her inner wolf to growl with want. His hands traveled along her waist, feeling her curves, and then down to her legs and he lifted her in his arms. She instinctively wrapped her legs around his waist, as her lips descended upon his, need filling every fiber of her body.
Julien kissed her once, and then pulled back to look into her eyes, and then leaned his forehead against hers. “Don’t leave me.”
Somehow, she knew that he wasn’t just talking about leaving temporarily, but for eternity. His sincerity touched her heart, making her wish that they could both live forever… safe in each other’s arms. “I won’t.”
It was just two words, but that was all he needed. His lips slammed into hers as he carried her to their bed and set her down on the edge. Then he slipped her shirt up over her head and threw it onto the floor. Then in one swift movement, he unclasped her bra and it was tossed onto the shirt. Then he roughly pushed her back, nearly an assault, and pulled off her jeans, running his hands over her body, down her sides, as if committing it to memory, and then pulled her panties off, too, leaving her breathless.
He stalked toward her, and she wasted no time, quickly pulling off his shirt and running her hands over the pits and valleys of his muscular chest, sliding his shirt down his arms, letting it fall to the floor. Quicker than she would have thought possible, he unbuttoned his pants, and a moment later, they were laying on the floor in a heap along with his shirt.
“Come here,” he whispered, but she had other plans.
Pushing him back onto the bed and straddled him, looking deeply into his eyes, her heart aching, knowing this would be their last night together before she left in the morning. Then she kissed his chest and his neck and then down his stomach, and then ran her tongue along his length, as he gasped, writhing in pleasure. Enjoying the feeling of power, she covered his length with her mouth, licking and sucking. A few moments later, he pulled her up to him and flipped her over onto her back, pain coloring his face. “I love you, always and forever.”
“I love you, too… always.” Tears sprang to her eyes from the sincerity of his words.
Then he slammed into her roughly, giving her everything he had as she gasped from the sudden unexpected jolt. Then he leaned over her, pulling in and out as he looked into her eyes, showing her with his body what mere words couldn’t.
They spent the night in each other’s arms, sharing their love until the first rays of morning light pierced the darkness, hoping it wouldn’t be their last.
