The Alpha’s Companion - Chapter 59
“Thank you so much for having me,” Lacey said to Arkin, standing by the limo with Brogan and the other shifters from her pack. She hadn’t seen her warriors since she had been there, but they seemed to have had a good time. A few members of the Shadow Pack had even come to say goodbye, and Brogan, Misty, and Victor were all smiling, which was a good sign. Misty and Victor got into the car, but Brogan waited for Lacey, holding the door open for her.
Arkin placed his hands on her upper arms, and then gave her a kiss on both cheeks. “It was a pleasure to see you again. Please. Promise me that you’ll come back again soon.”
Lacey nodded, smiling. “Only if you promise to come to the Harvest Moon Pack to visit us, too.”
“That, little sister, may be an offer we can’t refuse,” Seth said, smiling from ear to ear.
“Good. I’m counting on it.”
Then Arkin pulled her close and whispered in her ear, “And don’t worry about the alliance between our packs. It’s very strong. When you need us, let us know and we’ll be there.”
Lacey nodded, tears springing to her eyes. “Thank you.”
Arkin gave her one last hug.
“I’m glad I met you both.” Lacey gave both her brothers a kiss on their cheeks, feeling as if she had known them all her life, and she wished she had. They both had a playful, mischievous side that she was sure would have been fun to grow up with. Unfortunately, it never happened, but she was looking forward to the future. Hopefully, they would be a part of hers.
“We’re glad we met you, too,” Seth replied for them both, and then stepped back, letting her have access to the limo. “But don’t be a stranger.”
Lacey smiled. “You can count on it.” Even though their forwardness had taken her by surprise at first, she had grown used to it, deciding that this was the way that normal families acted. Thorn’s poison had spread through The Silver Pack to the point that she wasn’t sure they even knew what a true family treated one another.
After saying her last goodbyes, Lacey slid into the limo, and Brogan slid in behind her. “Alpha Queen, if I may say, they are a very friendly pack. I like them very much.”
Lacey nodded, looking out the window as the limo pulled away. “I do, too.” Then she looked into his eyes. “He’s my father.” It was the first time she had said it, but deep down, she knew it was true. In the short time she had known him, Arkin had treated her better and had been more accepting of her than Thorn ever had been.
Even though she had only been gone a short time, she had never been so glad to see the tall trees and forest surrounding the castle. For the first time, she knew she was home. Julien and the Harvest Moon Pack was her family now, along with Arkin and her brothers. Even though she had lost much, she had gained so much more.
A huge smile spread across Julien’s face when Lacey’s limo pulled up, and he skipped down the stairs when the limo came to a stop. Brogan stepped out first, and then helped Lacey out.
“Julien!” Lacey smiled, running into his powerful arms. “I’ve missed you.”
He pulled her to his chest, inhaling her scent. “I’ve missed you, too.” Then he pulled back and looked into her eyes. “Let’s go inside and talk.” Then he looked over at Brogan. “I want a full report later.”
Brogan nodded once, holding his hands behind his back. “Yes, Alpha Grey.”
Julien placed his hand on the small of her back and walked with her up the stairs. As soon as she stepped inside the castle, he scooped her into his arms, lifting her off her feet, hugging her to his muscular chest. “Oh, I’ve missed you!”
Lacey giggled. “I’ve only been gone a few days!”
“Any time away is too long.” His lips descended upon hers as passion overtook them both. Two young female warriors walking by giggled. Julien smiled against her lips. “I guess we’d better take this upstairs.”
Lacey nodded. “I like the sound of that, but I really need to talk to you about my visits first.”
A devilish look lit Julien’s lips. “I was afraid you’d say that.” Suddenly, Lacey found herself in Julien’s arms, being whisked off to their suite. Then he kicked the door open, letting it hit the wall. “But first, we need to make up for lost time.” Then he kicked the door closed behind them.
Inside, he crushed his lips to hers, and her lips answered every question his asked. “Say you’re mine,” he growled, lightly biting her neck.
“I’m yours,” she breathed against his lips as his hand slid down her side and then between her legs, causing her breath to quicken. Then she looked straight into his eyes, resisting the urge to submit. “Now. Tell me that you’re mine, too.”
Julien pulled back, one corner of his lips curling into a sexy smile, obviously amused. Then he placed his hand to the side of her head, looking deeply into her eyes. “Yes. I am yours.”
Her wolf growled in acceptance.
Julien lifted her off her feet with ease, and Lacey wrapped her legs around his waist, as he carried her toward the bedroom.. “I’ve always been yours.”
