The Alpha’s Prisoner - Chapter 19
Jack had a very stressful day after Kate’s attack.
A council’s meeting was summoned because a lot of people from the pack wanted to know what type of punishment Violet would have to face.
Although some people didn’t really care about it – in fact they seemed to even like what the girl had been through – as the Alpha, Jack couldn’t make a blind eye to that.
He also asked the doctor from the pack to be present at the meeting so he could explain with technical information why Violet lost control if she was on drugs.
The doctor’s explanation was very convincing and the members of the council seemed to be more relaxed after they said that the dosage was going to be boosted.
Jack also made clear that, since Violet wasn’t at the meeting this time, he was trying to bring her to their side for good. He didn’t tell them exactly how he meant to do it, but he asked for their trust once more.
Somehow he knew that he made Violet consider a lot of things with his words..
When she told him that she always heard bad things about him, a lot made sense. The Diamond Pack only knew about what happened outside of the walls from Arden’s mouth or his officials, which was pretty much the same thing.
Jack doubted that he told the pack everything that happened in real life, because he would definitely lose his power if the members discovered what a terrible person he was.
How he was able to adopt and raise such a nice person as Violet, Jack couldn’t understand.
But that was the only good thing that Arden had ever done in his life.
But Violet’s vision of the world had to change, and Jack was going to do everything he could to prove to her that he was the good guy, not Arden.
He could feel that she was changing her opinions about him, even though she pretended she wasn’t.
Actually, he knew exactly how she was feeling. His mind didn’t stop thinking about her from the moment he put his eyes on her.
Also, it was really hard to manage all the feelings that came to surface every time she was in the same room as him.
He had to remind himself all the time that she still wasn’t trustable, that she was the daughter of the enemy.
It was late at night and Jack was finally alone in his office. He poured some whisky on a glass and drank all at once to ease his mind a bit.
He was with a hell of a migraine.
Suddenly, Morgana stormed inside, slamming the door on the wall as she passed by it.
Jack looked at her really annoyed for the interruption, but waited until she said what seemed to be so urgent.
“You need to send that girl back to where she came from.” Morgana exploded making large gestures with her arms.
Jack served himself again and sat on his chair, really calmly.
“I still didn’t acquire the ability to read minds, Morgana. You’ll have to be more specific. I don’t know what you are referring to.”
“You know exactly who I’m talking about!” she was out of mind.
“I do. But I need more than that to understand what you mean.” he explained with a lot of patience.
Morgana huffed.
“I asked one of our spies to pretend they were from the Diamond Pack and talk to her. She didn’t seem against the idea of being rescued.”
Jack raised his brows.
He was now paying a lot of attention to the woman in front of him.
“What do you mean about being rescued?”
“He pretended to be an undercover spy and told her that Arden was working on getting her out of here. She seemed pretty interested on how he was going to do it.”
Jack drank from his glass again, feeling the whisky burning all the way down his throat.
But the bitterness inside his heart was much worse.
“What exactly did she say?”
“She asked what she should do. She also said that it would be too risky if Arden came by himself, that it didn’t sound like him at all.”
“It definitely doesn’t.” Jack added in agreement. “And what did your man say?”
“He said she should just wait and asked her some information about you, some of your weaknesses.”
Jack felt a pain on his stomach.
Did Violet really want to leave? Did she tell him anything?
Jack took another sip to help him push down his displeasure and frustration before he asked:
“And what did she tell him?”
Morgana’s eyes seemed to be on fire.
He had never seen the woman so angry before.
“Well, she didn’t want to say anything. But that doesn’t matter! She can’t stay here anymore, learning everything about us.”
Jack felt a wave of happiness invade him. Every part of his body was very pleased.
Violet didn’t tell the man anything. What did that mean?
Was she having second thoughts? Was that a part of her scheme?
No, it couldn’t be.
If she wanted to escape so badly, she would have said something. She would have held on to every chance she got.
Or maybe he was putting too much trust in her. But Jack didn’t care. He would do it for her.
Even if that meant he would end up heartbroken.
He had taken every precaution to protect the members of his pack from her. So he was the only one that should watch out for her.
But he was ready for whatever destiny had saved for him.
Violet was worth the risk.
And he was going to take action, instead of just wait for her to realize he was the right man for her.
