The Alpha’s Prisoner - Chapter 30
“I think it will be better for you to train as well. I mean, you wouldn’t be able to achieve all your potential if we are inhibiting your powers, right?” Jack asked with a smile.
But Violet was still numb from his previous statement.
He was going to suspend the drugs. What if she attacked someone again?
She didn’t trust herself.
“I don’t think that’s a good choice.” she said abruptly.
Jack frowned confused.
“What do you mean?”.
Violet got up from the bed and put on her shirt again. She seemed really disturbed.
“Violet, what’s wrong?” Jack sat on the bed worried.
“I can’t control myself. What if I hurt someone, or even worst, kill someone? I can’t do it!” she yelled troubled.
Jack put on his boxers again and came towards her, hugging her right after.
“You’re going to be fine. That’s the whole point why Morgana will train you.”
It felt good to be comforted by him, but Violet was extremely worried.
“Come on. Let’s go to bed. You need to study tomorrow and I need to leave really early.” he said pulling her to the bed.
“You’re leaving again?” Violet asked surprised.
What was he doing out the whole day?
“Yep.” Jack murmured, but he seemed to be hiding something from her.
Violet didn’t know why she thought that, but it was what her guts were telling her.
“What is it? Is something wrong?” she asked curiously.
“It’s nothing.” he said laying on the bed.
“Jack. You’re hiding something from me, I can tell. What is it?” she repeated crossing her arms.
He sighed and sat on the bed again, looking at her.
“I think someone is trying to reach out to you.”
Violet felt a pain on her stomach.
“What do you mean reach out to me?”
“We think someone is trying to get you out. Surrounding our territory, asking questions. We don’t know what it is, so we are making patrols around the city.” he explained.
Violet was in shock.
Who was trying to reach out to her? Was it Arden? Were they trying to get her out?
But the question hammering inside her mind was different.
Did she want to go back now?
She had just agreed to trust Jack and vice versa. What if they succeeded in taking her out?
Jack didn’t have the courage to say anything else. He seemed really bothered by that situation, maybe he was asking himself the same questions as her.
It was definitely an awful night for both of them. Violet could barely close her eyes the whole night.
And when she took a nap and woke up, it was already morning and Jack wasn’t in her bedroom anymore.
She waited for him to get out of the bathroom again, but that didn’t happen.
He was really gone.
And the lump on her throat showed up again.
She wanted to cry so much. It was overwhelming to feel all those things at the same time.
There was so much happening in her life in so little time and she wasn’t having time to process it all.
Lucinda came in while Violet was on the shower and left before she had finished.
Violet ate her breakfast and started leafing through the pages of the books Morgana gave her.
It had so much for her to study. A lot of information about how witches were treated in the past; how they used natural elements to heal the diseased; how they discovered different abilities during the centuries.
The other book seemed much more interesting to Violet. It had a list of all supernatural powers witches and wizards could develop.
It was really rare for a sorceress to be able to control all four elements at once. Normally, they would evolve only one.
Fire, water, air or earth. Morgana could control the fire, like Violet was able to see when she lit the candles back on the previous day.
She was really curious to know if she would be able to control one of them as well.
There was also many other powers like levitation, telepathy, shielding and mind control.
A few things were strictly forbidden like trying to bring back the dead in any form.
That didn’t come to Violet’s mind before, but when she read that paragraph, she felt a little disappointed.
She would never have the opportunity to talk to her parents.
Violet didn’t know when she fell asleep, but when she woke up was already time to have dinner.
She ate alone again, wondering where Jack was.
No one came to look for her during the day and she spent it by studying all the time. She didn’t feel like going out either.
She was too focused on learning everything about her and the sorceress life.
And she also didn’t know if Jack was mad at her or something.
And on the next day, a loud knock on her door made her jump from the bed.
“Violet, wake up! We are going out. Let’s go!”
It was Morgana.
What did she mean by going out?
Violet got up really dizzy and opened the door.
Morgana stormed inside and she didn’t look very happy.
“Jack told me he took off your drugs. Which I think it’s stupid for the time being. You’re still not trustable.”
“Am I ever going to be?” Violet asked irritated.
But she regretted immediately.
Morgana seemed to want to murder her.
“We will see about that.”
Violet didn’t know what she meant, but she didn’t ask. She shouldn’t provoke Morgana when they were about to practice.
She left Violet really injured just to discover if she was a sorceress or not. Imagine what she could do to her if she wanted to prove a point.
“I’ll get ready. Where are we going anyway?” Violet asked going to the bathroom.
“To the woods.” Morgana answered.
And that made Violet’s spine freeze with a bad feeling.
