The Alpha’s Prisoner - Chapter 34
Violet was crying and sobbing for so long that she lost track of time.
Her life was over.
She lost the chance to escape and she had lost Jack as well.
She would never agree to train with Morgana again, so recognizing and improving her powers was also out of the table.
What did she have left?
She was going to live an unhappy life, without powers, without the man she loved, without freedom.
Because it was pretty clear to her that whenever she went – home with the Diamond Pack or a prisoner at Jack’s mansion – her thoughts and desires would never be taken into consideration.
But what was hurting her heart the most was Jack. She couldn’t stop thinking about him, about how he looked at her with sadness and anger on his eyes..
She knew it would be hard to trust each other, especially because he had even more reasons to doubt her. She was the one that tried to kill him after all.
He had never done anything like that to her. In fact, he only repaid her with kindness and tolerance.
Was she asking for too much? The fact that she only wanted him to trust her was something insane?
She couldn’t sleep thinking about that.
Her head was hurting as she tried to think of what to do. She had to do something to prove to Jack that she was loyal to him.
She wanted to show him that her love was something real, it wasn’t faked. But what could she do?
Staring at the full moon outside, Violet immersed herself in memories of her and Jack being together, how that felt natural and meant to be.
She laughed as she remembered how she considered ignoring that feeling. Now it seemed like a delusional thought to even think about that.
It was impossible. The bond they had was too strong. She could never have the strength to ignore it.
A low knock on the door took her out of her daydreams. Who could it be at that time? It was already too late.
But the person didn’t wait for her to open the door. The man entered the room before knocking a second time, and Violet widened her eyes in disbelief.
“What are you doing here?”
Jack was standing in front of her, clearly drunk and miserable.
Those gray-green eyes were staring at her with the most pitiful look. Violet felt her heart shrinking with pain.
How could he be so beautiful and hateful at the same time? She didn’t want to see him, but now that he was standing before her, Violet just wanted to comfort him, even though she was the one hurt and wronged.
“Violet, I’m sorry!” Jack said grabbing her cheeks on his hands gently.
Violet’s whole body shivered with his touch.
“I am the most stupid man on this continent. I don’t know why I always act like that when you’re involved.” he apologized, looking inside her eyes.
Violet tried her hardest not to look at him, but it was really hard when he was holding her face so close to his.
“Just the thought of you leaving make me irrational. I know we had an agreement, but I simply couldn’t think of it when Morgana mentioned that man.”
Violet examined his posture and his face. He looked sincere.
“Forgive me, please. I… I promise you this won’t happen again.”
Jack lowered his eyes to her lips, and Violet gulped.
That was a low blow.
She couldn’t resist him looking at her like that.
Jack put one of his hands around her waist and pulled her closer to his body.
Violet didn’t try to push him away, didn’t try to avoid that.
She just wanted him. She didn’t care of anything as long as she was inside his arms.
“You can’t hurt me like that anymore, Jack. I…” she felt the lump on her throat again, and her eyes were burning from crying so much.
Jack caressed her cheeks and her hair, scanning her face.
“I’m sorry to make you cry and suffer like that. I really do. I won’t be able to forgive myself for that. Never. I’m sorry for being an a*shole.” he said and that made Violet laugh.
It was so cute to see him apologizing to her while he dissed himself.
“Finally something we can both agree on.” she said staring at him.
A single tear ran down her cheek and Jack wiped it with his thumb.
“I’m sorry…” he whispered again as he lowered his head.
He placed a very soft and gentle kiss on Violet’s lips, as he hugged her waist even tighter.
She could feel how much he didn’t want her to escape from his arms.
That wasn’t an urgent kiss, but a very raw one. It was like it was possible to touch their feelings in the air.
That couldn’t be just a bond force. Violet could feel their feelings being laid on the table as they involved their tongues in a very slow and sweet dance.
The taste of that apology kiss was different. That was enough for Violet to understand that their wolf bond wasn’t just a physical thing.
It was emotional, it was pure, it was real.
She could actually feel his feelings on his kiss, on the way his hands grabbed and squeezed her, but not in a sexy way, but like he didn’t want her to escape.
Like he was scared that if he let loose of her, she would vanish before his eyes.
When they separated, Violet suddenly had an enlightenment. She knew what she had to do.
“Jack… I want to do something.”
He looked at her curious.
“What is it?” he asked fondly.
“I want to go home and find something to prove that Arden isn’t a good leader. I’m sure I can find something useful to incriminate him.”
