The Alpha’s Prisoner - Chapter 50
The woman clearly wasn’t happy. Not with everything happening outside the palace, not with her father missing and hated by the whole Crescent, and not by the fact that she was the new Alpha of the Diamond Pack.
Violet couldn’t imagine how she was feeling. It should be even harder for her seeing everything fall apart in her life without even a warning.
After all, Violet was feeling bad, but she knew everything that was going to happen before it happened. In fact, she was responsible for it.
But Gwen was innocent. She didn’t deserve that.
Violet bit her lips trying to control her urge to cry.
Gwen stood in front of all those Alphas, and Violet realized she had never seen her sister with such a posture..
She really looked like a true leader, like a very powerful and competent woman.
That made Violet feel proud. But when she looked inside Gwen’s eyes, she could notice how the woman was trying hard to keep herself calm.
Violet knew her. She could read every move of Gwen’s.
“Good evening. I’m sorry to summon you like this, but I must confess I didn’t know what else to do.” she started.
Nobody made a single sound.
“I know we are all facing something unexpected. I know I am. I just want to ask you to be patient with me, since… well, you know, I was never an Alpha before.”
“Miss Thompson?” an old man in the crowd said with a little arrogance.
Gwen looked at him.
“Yes?”
“We know you don’t have anything to do with it and we are only here because of Arden. What you do from now on with your pack doesn’t concern us. We only want justice. We know Arden not only killed a lot of people to conquer territories, but there were also documents that proved his corruption.”
A lot of people cheered him for saying what they all wanted to say.
“We just want him to pay for what he did. He not only separated the Diamond Pack from the rest of the world, but also stole from our lands and bribed a lot of members from our packs.”
Gwen nodded as she followed his complaints.
“I know. We discovered everything together, so all I ask is a little more patient…”
“My only question here is to know what the Diamond Pack will do to capture Arden and bring him here to be judged?” the man said with his head up.
Violet didn’t like the way he was talking to Gwen, but she couldn’t speak up. She wasn’t even supposed to be there in the first place.
Gwen looked cornered.
Violet could see the way she was clenching her fist and sticking her nails on her palms to control herself.
She always did that.
Gwen looked at Harry and he came forward to help, answering that question for her.
“The Diamond Pack will send its army to search for Arden and the traitors and bring them to be judged like we always do to… criminals.” he concluded with a little difficult.
It was really hard to refer to Arden as a bad person, let alone a criminal.
It was understandable that Gwen couldn’t make that statement in front of them.
“Good. We hope your army is efficient enough to accomplish that quickly. We will make sure to do our search as well, using our forces.” the man added, being followed by a lot of cheers of agreement.
“I appreciate all of you giving me your time.” Gwen spoke again. “I’m also at your disposal, if any of you want to talk to me about anything else. I’ll try my best to fix my father’s mistakes and have a great relationship with all packs around the Crescent.”
Violet had never felt so proud of her before. That was exactly what a true leader should do, and she doubted that Arden would give a speech like that ever.
“She is good.” Jack whispered by her side, as the other Alphas took their way out.
“Let’s go home. We need to come up with a plan to search for that bastard.” Violet heard one of the leader saying to another group of people.
“Yes, she is.” she answered Jack, ignoring the rest of the people around her.
They were waiting for the place to empty before they could also leave.
“Baby, do you mind waiting for me outside? I want to talk to her.” Violet asked grabbing his hand and pulling him back.
Jack examined her for a while before answering.
“Okay. I’ll be right outside. Call me if you need anything. I’ll send the members back home.” he said giving her a kiss and leaving right after.
She took that opportunity to go the other way, following the same path that Gwen had taken a few minutes before.
She knew exactly where to find the girl.
Even though it wasn’t the place where Gwen would want to be, she couldn’t be anywhere else.
Violet knew her well enough.
She took the stairs and went towards Arden’s office.
And just as she imagined, Gwen was inside, stirring through Arden’s stuff.
“Gwen?” Violet asked closing the door behind her.
The woman looked at her surprised.
“Violet? What are you doing here?”
“I…”
And suddenly Violet realized she didn’t know what to say.
“I came to check on you. I wanted to make sure you were alright.”
“Alright? How could I ever be alright?” Gwen looked agitated all of a sudden.
“I know things seem terrible now, Gwen, but everything will be fine. I heard your speech. You were born to do this.”
Gwen laughed with disdain.
“You must be kidding me.”
“No, I’m being serious. The Diamond Pack needs someone like you. Someone that’s understanding, kind, that cares about its people.” Violet said coming forward.
“How do you think I’m going to do this? I don’t know a thing about being an Alpha, Violet! It wasn’t supposed to be me. Lance should be here. But that idiot also ran away.”
“Do you know why he did it?” Violet asked curious.
“Of course I don’t. In fact, I don’t know anything. All I know is that one day I went to sleep and on the next day, I woke up to find out that my father is a murderer and I was left alone to lead an entire pack!” Gwen spilled everything out, frustrated and sad.
Violet felt like she wanted to throw up.
“I’m sorry, Gwen. I didn’t want to make you suffer. I just wanted to do things right.”
“So it was you after all, wasn’t it?”
