The Alpha’s Prisoner - Chapter 56
But she wouldn’t let that shake her relationship with Jack.
If the conversation came up again, they were going to talk about marriage. But not now.
She was still very upset about everything with the Diamond Pack, and it was actually too soon to talk about getting married.
She had said that as a joke at first, she didn’t think it would turn out to be a serious conversation between them.
Jack didn’t seem very satisfied with the direction the conversation took, and that was the reason she regretted talking about it.
A knock on the door took her out of her thoughts..
“I heard you had come back. Did you miss me?” Lucinda said after Violet opened the door for her.
“I was gone for barely a day.” Violet said with a smile.
“So?” she pretended to be offended. “How was it then? Did you use the little gift I bought you?” Lucinda said with a smirk.
Violet almost killed her with her look.
“As a matter of fact, I did. Thank you.”
Lucinda laughed.
“I knew it! I bet the boss liked it a lot.”
“Lucinda! I was about to go out, do you have anything to say?” she raised her brows.
“Don’t be a jerk. I only came here to chat. Where are you going?”
“I’m going to practice in a few minutes.”
“So you can’t talk with your friend, right?” Lucinda complained.
It was really nice to finally have someone to call a true friend. Violet found it really pleasant to joke and chat with Lucinda like they were best friends.
She had missed that a lot, especially not having Gwen in her life anymore.
“We can do that later, okay? Or do you have anything urgent to say?”
“No, nothing. I just left my shift, so I came to check up on you.”
“Did we have any news while we were away about the whole Arden thing?” Violet asked. “I didn’t leave the bedroom since we arrived, and didn’t see Jack either.”
“Not really. Apparently someone claimed to have seen someone that looked like Arden in the South, but it was a false alarm.”
“I see. It’s really boring to wait for news, isn’t it?” Violet said.
Lucinda looked at her sympathetically.
“Everything will be fine, Vi.”
“Yeah, people keep telling me this over and over, but nothing seems to be getting fine, right?”
“We all understand what you must be going through. Just know that you have a family here now, okay? The whole pack is by your side, especially after what you did, so don’t think for a moment that you’re alone on this.”
Violet looked at the floor, taking in those words and saving it on her heart.
She wanted to feel loved and part of the Rebels. They were her family now, and she could feel how everyone was treating her with sincerity and respect.
It wasn’t something forced. They truly considered her part of their own now.
And she was really grateful for that.
“Thank you, Lucinda. This really means a lot to me. I know I’m bad with showing my feelings, but I really appreciate the fact that you guys accepted me here. I won’t take this for granted.”
Lucinda smiled at her in return.
“Come on. Go to your training thing. We can talk at another time.”
Violet nodded, grabbing her coat.
“Okay, talk to you later then.”
And she left the bedroom and went to find Morgana.
Violet didn’t know what else she could do despite of practicing her powers and magic. That was the only thing she had for sure.
She would have to find purpose to her life one day, but since things were still very uncertain, she couldn’t stop to figure out what her future would be like.
Which was why she decided to practice. That was the only thing that seemed to calm her down lately, so she would go outside everyday to train and enhance her powers.
She walked down the stairs and followed the path that led to Morgana’s office.
She knocked on the stone door and waited for a few seconds until she got a response.
She was about to leave, thinking that Morgana wasn’t inside.
“Yes?” the woman said a little impatient and with her hair all messed up. “Ah, Violet! I didn’t know you were back.”
“I just arrived. I’m sorry to… bother you. I was wondering if you wanted to practice with me for a few hours. I kind of need the fresh air.”
“Aren’t you back from the beach? Wasn’t enough fresh air there for you?” Morgana teased her with a smile.
But it was a different one this time.
Ever since Violet got back from her mission to steal the files from the Diamond Pack, Morgana was treating her really well.
It was like they never had a quarrel before.
“Yeah, okay. I could do a little practice as well. I feel like I’m getting rusty inside of this damned mansion.”
Violet and Morgana trained until the moon was really high in the sky and it started to get really cold in the woods.
When they got back to the mansion, the atmosphere was different than when they left.
Everyone seemed very uneasy.
“What’s going on?” Violet whispered to Morgana as they crossed the door.
“What happened?” Morgana asked to a group of men, but no one seemed to pay attention to her.
The noise from the chatter was too loud for her to be heard.
Impatiently and annoyed that she was being ignored, Morgana pulled a man by his collar and looked at him with scary eyes.
“What the hell happened?” she asked in a whisper.
The man stuttered before he answered.
“One of the fugitives was found and caught by the army of the Diamond Pack.”
