The Alpha’s Prisoner - Chapter 89
She wouldn’t get there on time, even if she wanted.
Violet’s roar got stuck in her throat, as she saw the wolf’s teeth thread on Lucinda’s skin.
Then it occurred to her that she could levitate the wolf.
When she focused her eyes on it, another wolf came running like a comet, hit the one that was attacking Lucinda, and threw it away.
It took Violet a few seconds to understand what happened.
Lance had appeared out of nowhere and saved Lucinda.
She had been bitten though, but since Lance was by her side, Violet tried to find the wolf that had attacked her.
Good thing that Lance had tossed him away.. Apparently, he bumped into something and was now laid on the grass without breathing.
Violet then ran to see if Lucinda was okay.
Lance was on top of her checking if she was feeling well, and Violet almost fainted when she saw the wound near Lucinda’s neck.
Her friend was now on her human form again and was panting really heavily.
Lance shifted back too and took Lucinda in his arms.
Violet got really anxious.
She looked around to see how many of them still needed help, but got surprised with what she saw.
The fight seemed to be over.
There wasn’t anyone fighting anymore. Lots of the members of the Rebels were changing back to their human forms now, stopping to examine the mess in the camping.
Violet didn’t wait to see what they were going to do with the bodies.
She also shifted back and looked around, searching for Jack.
He wasn’t anywhere at sight, and her heart shrunk with fear.
“Is she okay?” she asked Lance, trying not to think about Jack.
Her brother was compressing the wound to stem the bleeding on Lucinda’s neck.
“I think she’ll be fine, but I need to take her to a doctor immediately.”
Violet nodded aggressively.
“Of course. Go! I’ll tell the others. Just go!” she repeated, urging Lance to leave with Lucinda quickly.
The sooner they left, more chances Lucinda had to survive.
He did as she told, and Violet saw them disappearing behind the trees.
Only then she managed to pay attention to the rest of the pack.
After a few minutes of tension, she breathed in relief when she had a glimpse of Jack a few meters away, squatting down to grab some of the men they had killed.
Violet didn’t want to see, so she made sure no one were in danger anymore, and got away from the camping for a few minutes, to ease her mind.
It had been a very exhausting night, mentally and physically.
She was feeling weak for using her powers for so long.
A while later, she heard some footsteps behind her and turned to look who it was.
Jack was coming at her, sweaty and tired.
“Are you okay?” he asked, pulling her to a hug.
She wasn’t expecting that sign of affection all of a sudden, but it was a very needed embrace.
“Yes.” she murmured against his chest. “And you?”
“Just happy to see you’re alive.”
Violet smiled slightly, pulling away from his arms.
“Lance took Lucinda to the mansion. She was seriously hurt.”
“Really? What happened to her?” Jack asked surprised.
“A wolf attacked her from behind and bit her neck. She was bleeding real badly.” Violet explained. “Lance thinks she’ll be fine if they get to the hospital in time.”
Jack nodded.
“Maybe we should go then. There a few members that need to do a checkup as well.”
As they walked back to the mansion, with Morgana’s little ball of light guiding them since it was still dark, Violet could feel her legs automatically going forward.
She had no more strength to do anything, especially think.
It was like her mind was empty somehow, and just go over what she had just experienced made her brain hurt.
She decided to leave the bad memories for later.
For now, everyone seemed to be really excited because the mission had been successful and they didn’t lose anyone.
The worst thing that happened was Lucinda be left in a bad shape.
As soon as they arrived at the mansion, Violet ran to the hospital to check on her friend and saw Lance waiting outside. Jack was coming right after her.
“How is she?” Violet asked stopping abruptly in front of her brother.
“The doctor said she will survive. I got here on time. But they didn’t let me in yet, so I’m waiting.”
Violet let out a sigh of relief and sat on the floor, as her body started to feel all the burnout from the fight.
Jack and Lance did the same and sat by her side, and they waited until they were allowed to see Lucinda.
It didn’t take too long, but Violet felt like she could fall asleep at any minute now that the adrenaline reached a lower level in her body.
Lucinda was still a bit groggy from the sedatives, but it was really good to see she was alive and well.
At that night, Violet decided not to go to her room.
Instead, she went straight to Jack’s and slept with one of his shirts, because after that night, all she wanted was to be with him.
It had been an overwhelming event for her to handle on her own.
She just wanted to feel loved, comforted and have a great night of sleep in his arms.
But on the next morning, after she woke up, Violet decided to stop by her room before checking on Lucinda.
“I’ll just pass by my room to get some clean clothes and will meet you, okay?” she said to Jack, as he got out of the shower.
The man nodded and placed a soft kiss on her lips before she left.
However, when Violet opened the door to her room, and her eyes fell upon her bed, she couldn’t believe what she saw.
It couldn’t be…
How was it possible to have another letter on her pillow, waiting for her threateningly like that?
Peter had been caught and was trapped inside the dungeon.
So, if he was the responsible for taking the letters from Arden to her room, it wasn’t possible for him to do it now.
So how could it be?
