The Alpha’s Prisoner - Chapter 99
The news about the wedding had spread like fire in wood.
Morgana made sure to put everyone to help with the preparations, from decoration to food, so the Rebels’ members were pretty busy.
Violet didn’t imagine that organizing a wedding would be so nerve-wracking, and she was feeling sick most of the time.
Morgana had accepted to be her bridesmaid, alongside Lucinda, of course. Jack asked Lance to be one of his best men as well, which surprised Violet’s brother as much as herself.
Lucinda and Lance had finally started a relationship, and Lucinda was splitting her time between the Diamond Pack and the Rebels, which made Violet really happy.
Her friend had arranged the perfect wedding dress for Violet, one that she loved more than anything.
She couldn’t wait to put that on and dance the whole night feeling like a princess out of a fairy tale, because that’s how she was feeling.
Everything was good.
Violet was finally feeling happy.
Jack, on the other hand, looked extremely anxious as the day of their wedding approached.
It even made Violet wonder if he was giving it a second thought, which Morgana immediately denied.
“Are you kidding? He can’t stop asking me how much longer I’ll take to set the date. I told him that he’ll know soon. I was just waiting for the answer of his cousin Gaia and her grandmother. She is a bit old, so she needs more time to get here. They just replied to me today though.”
And suddenly Violet remembered the first time she met Gaia. She was such a lovely young girl. It was amazing that she was going to come to her wedding.
They’d be able to finally catch up with each other. Gaia looked like a lonely girl when Violet met her.
“Are they coming?” Violet asked excited.
Morgana nodded.
“That’s amazing. I’m so glad you invited them. I didn’t remember about Jack’s family in the countryside. Shame on me!”
“Anyway, I set the date for this weekend. It’s when most of the guests will be available.” Morgana concluded.
Violet felt like her stomach had been sucked into a dark whole.
Now it was more definitive than before.
“Oh, God… Okay, this weekend.”
On the day of the party, Violet woke up feeling incredibly nauseated.
She didn’t know if it was the anticipation from the wedding, or if she had eaten something bad on the previous night, but she wasn’t feeling well at all.
“How will I get married like this? I can’t stop throwing up. Even the mention of food makes me sick.” she complained to Morgana and Lucinda as soon as they got to her room, which was now hers and Jack’s.
Morgana and Lucinda stared at each other, and their glance was full of unsaid words, words that Violet couldn’t understand without being pronounced out loud.
“What? Why are you two looking at each other like this? Morgana, please, you must have something that I can take to ease this morning sickness.” Violet begged.
Morgana widened a big smile in her direction, and Lucinda did the same.
“Violet…” Morgana started to say.
“What?” Violet was getting really annoyed with all that scene.
“You really don’t know what this is?” Lucinda asked instead of Morgana.
“What is what? I’m just feeling sick. It must be anxiety for the wedding.” she answered.
Morgana laughed.
“Come on, girl. How can you not know this? You’re obviously pregnant!”
It was like Violet had entered in a room filled with emptiness.
There was no more sound, no smell, no nothing.
How could she be pregnant?
She would have noticed, wouldn’t she?
Was that really possible?
Violet tried to scavenge through her memories of the last month, trying to find anything that could tell her and the others that Morgana was mistaken.
She couldn’t be pregnant.
“It’s not possible…” she murmured to herself.
“Are you sure? Think straight, when was your last period?” Lucinda asked from somewhere in the room.
Violet couldn’t see clearly.
And then she couldn’t remember.
How she didn’t notice it?
“Oh, my God…” Violet whispered, collapsing on the bed. “What am I gonna do now?”
“What do you mean what you’re going to do? You’re going to take a shower and put that dress of yours. The wedding will start at the right time. The guests will be here soon.” Morgana said.
“What? No, I need to tell Jack first.”
The realization of that news finally hit her. She was going to have a baby. She was thrilled.
Would Jack be as well?
“Okay, I’ll ask him to get here, but you need to hurry. We need to get your hair and your make up done, so don’t take too long. You’ll have forever to discuss this after the party.” Lucinda said already leaving the room.
“What do you think he will say?” Violet asked to Morgana, afraid of her answer. “I mean, we never talked about this, I don’t even know if Jack wanted to be a father in the first place.”
Morgana smiled at her as she walked towards the bed.
“Are you kidding? Jack can’t wait to be a father. He’ll be delighted, you don’t have anything to worry about.”
“Really?” Violet asked feeling her hope showing up again.
A noise on the hallway told them that he was arriving, so Morgana got up from the bed.
“I’ll be back soon. Don’t take too long. And relax, everything will be fine.” she said, passing by Jack on the way out.
“Hey, Lucinda said you wanted to talk to me. Is everything okay? She sounded very agitated, what happened? You’re not giving up, are you?” Jack said closing the door behind him and coming closer to Violet.
She gulped three times before she was able to gather her thoughts and tell him.
“I… I think I’m pregnant.”
Jack stared at her speechless, but Violet could feel the sparkle in his eyes.
His glance went from her face to her belly and back to her eyes.
“Are you serious?” he whispered.
“I mean… I didn’t do any tests yet, but Morgana and Lucinda think I might be, and I also can’t remember the last time I…”
Violet spat it out at once, feeling her legs tremble with fear of how Jack would react to that news, but she didn’t imagine he would stop her from talking with the most passionate kiss ever.
She could feel by the way he was kissing and hugging her that he was just as thrilled as her to know they were going to have a baby of their own.
Violet pushed him away slightly just to look into his eyes.
“Are you really that happy? I thought you were going to think that…”
“Are you kidding?” Jack interrupted her again. “I’m the happiest man on Earth today. I was already because of our wedding, but this was the cherry on the top for sure. I love you.” he stated.
Violet felt her eyes fill with tears as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
“I love you too.”
