The Amazing Process For Marrying You - Chapter 72
The last few days Gesa couldn’t sleep. She could barely close her eyes. Her body was still lying on the soft mattress with her eyes closed as if she didn’t want to end the night. Her memory can still remember clearly the night of Ananya’s accident. Everything was so eerie and scary.
“Please, take care of my husband and daughter!” Ananya said in a breathless voice.
Ayana’s hopeful gaze kept appearing in Gesa’s head. The accident became a memory she will never forget as it is always replaying in her head. Gesa could feel that the sun was starting to peek out from the horizon from the light making its way through the cracks in the windows. The light reminds her that it was no longer night. Soft breathing could be heard from the person sleeping beside her. Gesa decided to return to Kuching City to meet her mother. Gesa’s mother missed her very much and asked her to sleep beside her. Whose mother does not miss her daughter after 3 years of separation?
A smile tugged at Gesa’s lips. Still, with closed eyes, she moved her hands and gently tracing the curves of her mother’s face. She missed this woman, a woman who had given birth and raised her. She must be worried about not getting any message from her. Gesa’s mother had suspected that Gesa was the victim of a murder case whose body was not found. The weak old woman has given up if her daughter has truly passed away.
Gesa felt the warm sunshine in her skin, as the sun started to greet the world. With a warm and gentle feeling, she woke her mother.
“Mom, good morning.” Gesa gently touched her mother’s arm.
Gesa’s Mother rubbed her eyes and got up before she sat with her back against the wall. Since Gesa’s mother was really old, she prefers to lean on something since she doesn’t feel tired that way.
“Sorry, Ge. I overslept.”
“It’s okay, mom. I know you are tired because of me. I won’t make you tired anymore.”
“I’ve missed my beautiful daughter so much. It’s only natural that we talk until midnight. I want to know a lot of things.”
Gesa lives in a village that has refreshing air, a place far from the hustle and bustle of the Kuching City. The village is a great place to release all the fatigue from work since it is comfortable enough to relax. For Gesa, her village is also a place that is safe enough to protect herself from the complexities of life’s problems. She can also relax in the village. Being in the village makes her feel an old nostalgic feeling the past few years. Gesa always misses the village. She decided to return to her mother’s house since she was heartbroken of Dino’s marriage. Gesa needs time to calm herself down.
Last night, Gesa can feel everything clearly as the moon shyly appeared and the stars twinkled sharply without being covered by clouds. As the night deepened, she started to hear the sound of crickets and other animals cry from a faraway place. When the wind blew softly, when the walls and all inside the room fell into total silence, Gesa was lost in longing as she hugged her mother tightly and spilled everything in her heart.
The longing for her mother’s presence was finally over. She was longing for her mother’s warm hug all this time. Even though she is an adult, Gesa still can’t stay away from her mother. Their circumstances forced her to leave the old woman. She hugged her mother tightly after so many years apart. No sound or word can be heard as Gesa enjoys her mother’s warmth. Gesa can only hear their irregular breaths fighting with the silence that is getting dense. A smile tugged at Gesa’s lips.
“Ge, did you sleep well?”
“I am, mom.”
“Don’t lie to me! I heard you called Ananya’s name in your sleep. You still remember that disastrous night. I understand how you feel.”
“I am not lying, ma’am. I’m OK. Don’t worry.”
“How could I not worry, you haven’t given me any news for three years.”
“Mother, I’m back now, so please don’t worry. Everything has passed and now I am safely back in front of you, mom.”
“You look so hopeless, child. What happened to you?”
“I’m fine.” Gesa still hides the wound in her heart. Last night she only talked about Ananya and her escape to Indonesia.
“I gave birth to you, so please be honest with me. I will listen to your story. Is this related to Dino?”
Gesa was silent, refusing to give an answer as both of them froze.
“Dino has nothing to do with this…,” Gesa’s hoarse voice immediately makes her mother send her a suspicious look.
“Why don’t you try to be honest with me? Why? You don’t believe me anymore?” Gesa’s mother said.
“Mom, it’s not like that, but I can’t talk to you about this. I have a hard time understanding this problem. I don’t want to make you worried over this matter. I don’t want you to fall sick just because you are thinking about this.” Gesa speaks, trying to convince her mother.
“I want to listen to everything. I know it’s not easy for you to bear everything.”
Gesa’s brow furrowed at the sound of his mother’s words. She cannot fool the old woman. Without saying anything, Gesa pulled the blanket and buried her body under the blanket. Gesa’s Mother pulled the blanket, forcing Gesa to look at her.
“Why don’t you want to talk?”
“Mother, I can’t say anything now. Give me time to calm myself down.”
“Why?” Gesa’s Mother asked in a disappointed tone.
Gesa didn’t answer as she buried her face in her mother’s hug so she could feel her heart beating.
“It hurts too much for me to say it, mother. My heart hurts,” said Gesa stuttering as the tears suddenly fell without control.
Gesa’s Mother stroked her daughter’s hair gently then said “Just tell your Mother. Maybe after you tell me, you will be calmer. You look so heartbroken. Is this related to Dino? Do you like Ananya’s husband?”
Gesa trembled at her mother’s voice. A mother’s instinct is very strong and can’t be lied to. She will know when her daughter is telling the truth or lying. The girl was still hesitant to talk. She is uncomfortable talking about this topic. She was bringing her broken heart story instead of a piece of good news upon her arrival.
“Do not hesitate to tell me, dear. Am I not the only place you can always turn into? I’m ready to be a good listener for you. Speak to me, Ge.” Gesa’s Mother stroked her daughter’s cheek. She was full of worried and concern. She couldn’t stand doing nothing when she saw her daughter suffering. Her heart screamed when she knew Gesa almost became a murder victim. Dealing with powerful people is not easy. Gesa’s life is at stake.
“Mother.”
“Yes. I’ve always dreamt of having a husband as good as Ananya’s husband. I used to admire him. I love the way the man treats his wife, very Romantic. Before Ananya died, her last wish was for me to look after Dino and Hanin. From that night on, I wanted to carry out Ananya’s last will as I started to love Dino. I’m not afraid to love him anymore since Dino has become a widower. Unfortunately, I could never be his wife. Dino had married another woman. I am so unlucky. Dino’s new wife is the woman who saved me and helped me all this time. Mother, why is fate so cruel to me? Why did my love story have a tragic ending?”
“My poor beautiful daughter.” The old woman hugged Gesa tightly. Her daughter was always unlucky.
“I’m unfortunate, mom.” Gesa wept bitterly. When she thought she could love a man, it turned out her love was one-sided.
Is it wrong for Gesa to fantasize about becoming Dino’s wife? Is it wrong if she wants to carry out Ananya’s last will? Is it wrong for her to fall in love?
The Asian brown-skinned girl pensively propped up on her chin with her left hand. Her tired eyes peeked through the slightly parted curtains as an uneasy sigh escaped her mouth. Every now and then she wiped away the tears that trickled down her smooth cheeks. Gesa wanted to stop crying, lamenting her pain because of Dino’s marriage. Why did Dino marry the woman who had saved her life? Gesa is not ungrateful. There is a child that ties Dino and Rere together. She felt like an idiot. Everyone knows Dino and Rere’s relationship in the past but keeps their silence and doesn’t tell her about it. Her tears welled up again, wetting her eyelids and the corners of her eyes. Her mother came closer and hugged her tightly as she wanted to share the pain Gesa feels. This heartbreak hurts Gesa.
“You are not unfortunate, Ge,”
“I’m unfortunate, mom.”
