The Ancient Genes - Chapter 790: Troubling Issues
Crimson Dimension, Ocien.
“This is…” The Matriarch of the Crimson family looked at Old man Sun. The Old man was currently showing a formation disc to her. These kinds of things were usually used to store information, and were not that uncommon.
But, the Matriarch’s expression slightly changed when she noticed a strange strand of energy attached to the formation disc. It seemed to be some kind of seal, and the energy it was giving belonged to an Ascensionist.
There were very few people in the whole continent at that level. No matter who who this person was, there was one thing for sure, it was that he definitely had something very important in this disc.
“Whom do you think I got it from?” Old man Sun asked with a smile.
“I heard that you clashed with someone recently? Rumors said that it was an Ascensionist, it seemed that it wasn’t wrong..”
“Well, that is true. But, even that person wasn’t capable of putting a seal on the formation disc. Why don’t you give it a check?” Old man Sun tossed the sealed disc towards the Matriarch.
When the Matriarch came in contact with the disc, she frowned. The person who had put a seal on the disc was at least at the 3rd stage of Ascension. This was practically the level of those old monsters who had one foot in their coffins.
“There is something else that is even more interesting in this. This formation disc was being passed from a human to the Demons, and the person who came to collect it was the Ascensionist from the Demon world whom I fought..” Old man Sun stated calmly.
When the two old ladies heard him, their expressions immediately changed. They knew how important this lead was.
They knew that there was someone among the Ancient Family who was a traitor, a person who had stabbed them in the back thousands of years ago. But, this person had always been illusive, no, it couldn’t even be considered illusive. To be honest, this person was like a sleeper cell of the Demons.
It was very likely that he hadn’t made any move in thousands of years. It was the only way for this person to remain hidden. But, whenever he did make some move, devastating things would occur, like the incident from thousands of years ago.
And, yet now, this person seemed to once again move. They didn’t know if they should be happy about finally having an opportunity to identify the traitor or be worried about the the things that him being in action implied.
“The time for us to come out is here…” The Matriarch finally spoke in a low voice.
The two other people in the room seemed to be prepared for those words, but it still made their hearts move.
Thousands of years!
After such a long time, they were about to remerge. It was very likely that the world order would change after their emergence.
“What are we going to do about the current situation in Ocien?” Old man Sun suddenly asked.
“Let them be. We shall allow the Ancient Families to do what they are doing here. Our first priority is to capture the person who brought this disc into Ocean…” The Matriarch spoke.
“But, even if we find out about the identity of the traitor, will the Ancient families really believe us?” Old man Sun doubted it. He knew how arrogant those people were, and wouldn’t allow anyone to put such accusations on them.
“Do I need them to believe me?” Matriarch snorted. “The moment we find out who he is, we two sisters will kill him. Do you think they have the ability to stop us?”
Old man Sun’s face twitched. He knew they weren’t lying. A single Ancient Family definitely wasn’t capable of stopping these two grannies.
“But, what if the other four intervenes?” Old man Sun asked, and this was his main concern as well. The Five Ancient families shared a strong bond.
“Little Sun, do you really need to ask such simple things?” The Matriarch asked with a smile, and even her sister had a similar helpless look on her face.
It was only then that the Old man Sun realized how foolish of a question he was asking. This traitor had led the destruction of two Ancient Families, there was no way that the two Old grannies who were hungry for revenge would sit back.
After all, they had lost their families all those years ago.
It was already kind of them that they didn’t want to target anyone else but the traitor, after all, it was most likely that the traitor had used the family’s power in some way or the other to get his work done.
They had all the right to blame and destroy the Storms if they wanted to. But, they didn’t want to. They had already taken a step back for the greater good, and now if the Ancient Families weren’t willing to listen, then…
Old man Sun felt a drop of sweat sliding down his forehead. It was only now that he realized that the Demons might not even need to kill humans. After all, humans themselves were sufficient for that task.
‘Those old b*starts better be sensible..’ Old man Sun prayed in his heart.
….
Zen House, Zeal City.
“Bang!”
“What do they mean they are still working on it?!!” Fergus, the Lord of Zen House, roared in anger.
The news of the disappearance of the students had already reached his ears now. And, he obviously was going insane with worry. After all, his son was missing.
Fergus seemed to be deep in thought as he clenched his fist, and then finally, he took a deep breath before coming to a decision.
He immediately moved out of his chambers and headed towards the Ancestral grounds. This place was empty as usual, and a prohibited area around the entire Zen territory.
The guards patrolling around immediately became vigilant when they noticed a person, but when they saw it was the Lord, they calmly passed by him before giving him a thorough look as if they were identifying whether it really him and not some impostor in disguise.
Fergus too wasn’t bothered by their actions, because he knew who they were. These people had guarded the biggest secret of the Zens for thousands of years and deserved respect. Hence, he just gave them a respectful nod and then continued ahead.
A minute later, Fergus finally arrived in the deepest part of the cemetery where a tall tomb stood. It belonged to the Ancestor, and founder of the Zens. But, strangely, Fergus pushed his hand ahead, and his hand passed through the tomb, and slowly his entire figure disappeared into it.
