- Volume 1 Chapter 11 11. The Stupid
Emma Thompson finished the part of the program she was writing and stretched her arms.
”Even tho I love to be here but now is not the time for me to be inside and hide. Comfortable days will come soon. Now I just have to handle these days.” She rubbed her stiff neck and stood up from the chair.
By looking at the clock she knew that this time she was inside for almost the whole night.
Slowly she tiptoed to Aisa’s room and saw her sleeping contently while her dog was tucked in under the blanket with her.
”Luckily she is self-reliant and knows how to warm up the food. Soon we can enjoy our time more.”
She stretched and saw the clock showing 5 am. Taking a warm shower and putting some formal clothes on she looked at her reflection in the mirror and choose to put some lenses instead of glasses.
After looking at herself one more time she took one apple from the table and snacked on it on her way to the escalator. She was not very hungry as her nervousness kicked in.
When she came out of the escalator she saw busy people running around and children crying.
”What the hell is going on? Did it start before time?” She sped up and was met with an unimaginable situation.
Mario and his division stood still fully armed in front of hundreds of Amish people. She slowly walked to him and nudged his back with her finger.
At first, he wanted to snap on her but seeing her he got tie tonged. She looked actually amazing. He got hit in ribs by his friend and coughed to cover his expression.
”Miss Thompson. This situation…” He stared at the crowd that stood still and stared at them quietly, only a few small babies could be heard crying.
”Why didn’t you call me?” her expression became cold as she stared at him.
”But these people…” he wanted to continue but saw her expression getting darker.
”…are invited by me. They are experts in surviving in extreme conditions. We can learn many things from them. Bring them to the sixth floor, it’s reserved for them and Origins to seventh”
”Origins?” He looked at her not knowing what she is talking about.
”Yes the first people on this continent are in my eyes the origins and will arrive soon as well. Next time you have some situation call before acting.” She furrowed her eyebrows and looked at the whole battalion with icy expression and then turned to the Amish people.
As she walked away he got feeling that he really messed up this time. She trusted him but he didn’t even take into consideration her plans. Wait, plans!
He didn’t even read the whole notebook as he handled various complications. Few pages further could be seen on the whole page about Amish arrival and how they will be handled. Including the stuff on other pages that he didn’t even consider.
”Shit. Shit!!! So stupid. Damn!!!” He started cursing while reading the notes.
He looked up from the notes and saw her apologizing in front of the people while sending him icy stares. ”Quickly help her. This will be hard to mend now…” He sighed as he saw her cold expression.
Just a night before he was happy as she told him that she trusted him. Now he made this mess himself. He felt like banging his head on the wall but now he had no time to do that.
He inhaled and with long strides went in front of Amish Elders and bowed deeply. ” I am sorry. Actually miss Thompson left me notes about your arrival but… I was in such a hurry to handle other things that I didn’t even read it. I know its not a real excuse but I hope you will consider that and not be too angry with my people.”
Angus Mayer, one of the Amish Elders just shrugged and turned his head to Emma Thompson. ”We are tired, hungry and want to see our accommodations. Could you lead us there?”
He completely had no interest in talking to the man who let them stand outside the whole night. They already transferred their whole belongings to this place, they just went to say goodbye to their family and friends in other villages.
Emma Thompson nodded. She went to the huge escalator and sighed. ”Unfortunately, only 50 people can enter. There are two escalators so your people have to split. ”
He gave quick orders and so everyone entered and left Mario’s eyes. He started shaking and everyone in his unit knew that this day someone might get hurt. Badly.
So everyone rushed to do their job to perfection so he wouldn’t have a reason to flare on them.
When the door opened in front of their eyes humongous space opened. The trail to the village could be sen further away and carriages with horses already were waiting in the corner.
Angus Mayer turned his head to Emma Thompson and smiled. ”You really made an exact copy of or living space in such a short time. The things you told us are written in our Holy Book so we do trust your prediction. You are always welcome to visit us with your daughter. Have a blessed day.”
He turned around and waited for everyone to get on carriages. He was about to leave when Emma Thompson stopped him.
”Elder, I know you hate advance technologies. But now it is no time to be so obstinate. In mid of the village will be one phone and in four corners of this space as well. Just in case something is important or you want to meet me, please call.”
He smiled and nodded. ”We understand. Like I said we hope you will visit us.”
He snapped his whip and the carriage filled with people left whiel most of them smiled at her and waved their hands. After all, they were actually very friendly people only misunderstood.
She waited for more people to arrive and when everyone finally was seated and were gone she went into the escalator, turned the program on manual pannel and sealed this place that could be entered only with the pin code.
Then she visited the seventh level and smiled brightly.
This place was filled with hills and rivers, animals of all kinds and villages that the tribe made for themselves. they just went out to find more people from different tribes to join them in. She got their call as they are about to come back with hundreds of people from different tribes that are willing to join them.
Many more are about to come so she smiled and waved at a few girls that played in a nearby river.
She went back to the escalator and went for teh surface. It seems she can’t let him be completely without her directions. That stupid man didn’t even read the notes and the manual.
When she arrived space cleared quite a lot and Mario sat on a chair staring at the notes and cursing out. ”I am a really stupid pig. I could have saved myself so much trouble last night if I just did as it was written here. Stupid F.u.c.k.i.n.g stupid!!! Damn shit! That woman’s ideas are on point. I can’t believe how dumb I must look now. F.u.c.k.i.n.g stupid really!!!”
She felt that she needed to pay him back and slowly approached while putting her finger on her lips and shushing his people.
She stood behind him and stared at his shaking hands while he was reading through both notes and memorandum. Suddenly he slapped his face making her jump back a bit and then chuckle escaped her lips.
He looked behind him and suddenly his head became completely red. Emma Thompson nodded while stifling her laughter while looking at notes in his hands. ”Hmmm. Yes. Stupid pig, a moron, even that slap was well earned. Luckily I don’t have to slap you myself. Looking at that face of yours I would have probably hurt my hands.”
She pouted a bit and presented her slender hands under his eyes.
When she saw his expression she couldn’t handle it anymore and started laughing. Her laughter resounded in space and everyone stopped in their motion and turned their heads to her.
Speck of light hit her and she looked in that second like goddess bathed in sunlight. That second got deeply embed into their hearts until the end.
