- Volume 1 Chapter 25 25. Zombie Tide Starts
Mario held his head as a bunch of children of various ages from 8 up to 12 came to ask for training.
”Who did you say sent you?” He couldn’t believe his ears.
”Big boss told us to be trained by you and Mr.Fin.” One of the boys answered.
They all stood ramrod straight and with expectant expression waited for his command.
While he contemplated what he should do, Mr.Fin arrived in his new uniform.
He stared at children with strict expression and yelled. ”Are you ready for training?”
”Yes sir!!!” the children answered in unison not even changing their expression.
”Why?” He yelled again to see their reaction, but they didn’t even wince.
”To protect our home, to protect our family, to protect Aislin country and most importantly to protect the Boss!!!” Was their answer that literally made everyone stop and shake their heads.
NOw Mr.Fin was really curious so he just asked with a normal voice. ”Who taught you to say that?”
”Of course little Boss.” Said one of the children while shrugging and looking at him straightforwardly.
”Don’t you fear us?” He trained soldiers before and most of them feared him to death.
The children shook their heads in unison.
”Who or what do you fear then?” There has to be something that pushed them to be this way.
The same boy pouted. ”We don’t fear, just respect big boss and little boss. The big boss saved our families while the little boss is quite scary when she trains with us. She is even louder than you Mr.Fin.”
Now his jaw almost dropped on the floor. ”She is scarier than me?”
They all nodded. The boy came to a step closer turned his head left and right and almost whispered.
”The little boss started training with us from start on. She said there are no useless people, just lazy. If we become useless people we might as well come to her to let her beat us up.”
He went back in line standing still while Mr. Fin stared at the children speechlessly.
”How long can you run?” He gave up. To make new soldiers it was not wrong to start training them early on.
”We run every day ten miles. After that, we climb the walls for and hour and then swim for one more hour.” Answered one of the frontal boys.
Mario turned his head towards his soldier’s whit strange smile. ”Niceeeeeee. It seems children have better conditions than you guys. What about you all train together… uhm?”
The soldiers heard their conversation and their back was getting cold by the Commanders stare. It seems some things will change.
”Those who cant hold as long as these children might as well become maintenance on the tenth floor.” His scary smile made them almost jump out their skin.
”Understood?!” His voice almost exploded in the big space.
Everyone winced except Mr.Fin and children that didn’t even blink with the eye.
While they started basic training on the first floor, the girls that stood straight in front of Olivia Fin were the same. They stared at Aisa with big eyes, almost ignoring her.
She coughed to get their attention and started their training in the big park in the city. There are not many people living in the city area, just a few tens of thousand. So the park was not crowded.
When they saw girls training and running everyone thought it was cute. So some o them sent their daughters as well.
But the training was real so some children gave up in mid of training and run back home.
But the girls that were chosen by Aisa, were already trained a bit with boys and were taking the training seriously.
Emma stared at them trough monitors while looking at the devastations that are happening at the moment outside.
The cities succeded in saving many people but of course not all. So when the first wave of people started turning into zombies and the murdering began those that didn’t turn were free meals.
Emma had full control over a few powerplants in near regions. She put lots of effort to take control from here over them so they wouldn’t blow up and change the virus again.
The storm that brought the virus was extremely devastating. Strong winds tore the houses trees, cars and anything light and made it into scrap while rain almost didn’t drown half of the cities. Then the virus came and those that died became alive and started hunting a few survivers.
It seems that the zombies had good hearing and smell. They could find humans even if they hid deeply in some storage.
But those that had strong doors and didn’t come out were safe. At least for now.
Mario sad down next to Emma and stared at the screens. ”When do you plan to send first saviors?”
He knew her idea was to save those that couldn’t find a place in the cities.
”The virus is still raging. We need to give it time. Some of those that are outside might become zombies after a while. The rest will have a survive with anti-virus agents in their blood against the virus and our need is to save as many as possible of those people. They will be our first safe people as they wouldn’t be able to turn even if bitten.”
She already had her eyes at a few individuals. From past life, she knew that they were virus-resistant, but the bad side is they were not less tasty. The zombies would still hunt them down and eat every bit of those.
If they could find at least anti-zombie DNA in those humans so they could make it into the shot, they would have more chance to survive the Apocalypse.
In the commanding center, there were fifty computers and every computer had been set at the five cities.
When the storm swept over the shelter they couldn’t hear or feel the devastating power but could see it.
Everyone in the shelter had personal tv per house and apartment. They could choose various programs. Music, movies, cartoons, sport that was prerecorded and there was this channel that showed directly what is going on outside.
She didn’t plan to show it every time on the project screen but it was their choice to watch or not.
When the people started turning into zombies in the nearest city and started hunting the rest of humanity the people watched it with fear and trembling hearts.
Just now they realized how close they were to be part of the outside nightmare.
While drinking some beverage and eating something tasty they watched the outside world turn into hell. Most off the people choose to be thankful and some had some misgiving about not proper care.
Those few nasty people just complained inside their own walls. So no one noticed their true heart.
Yes, this is how humans are. Even if you give them perfect conditions they will have something to complain about.
When zombies started hunting in groups turning their groups bigger and then making a zombie tide they realized that even this bit of space could become a meal table if they were unlucky.
But complainers are everywhere…
