Chapter 381: Nine Revolutions of the Unknown Sky!
“Xiaofan, you should stay here and refine the Xuanwu blood. I’ll go outside to check if the captain and the others have returned,” Ling Feng suggested after pondering for a moment.
He felt it was best for Jiang Xiaofan to refine the Xuanwu blood sooner rather than later, especially since the Xuanwu Cave was an ideal place for cultivation.
“Alright, I’ll follow your arrangement, Big Brother,” Jiang Xiaofan replied, nodding. He gazed at the drop of shimmering, crystalline Xuanwu blood in his hand and sensed it resonate with something inside him. This was the vigor that the black donkey had mentioned earlier.
The despicable donkey cast a reluctant glance at the Xuanwu blood, trying to appear indifferent as if it didn’t care, but deep down, it was in pain!
After all, this was the blood of a divine beast!
If Lord Divine Donkey were to refine it, he wouldn’t need to cultivate slowly like these mortals; he could instantly breakthrough to a higher level.
Ling Feng could clearly see through the despicable donkey’s thoughts. The donkey’s eyes were practically turning green with envy, and drool was dripping from its mouth like a starving dog staring at a feast.
“Despicable donkey, are you going back into the Five Elements Heavenly Palace or not?” Ling Feng asked, pursing his lips.
“Hmph, you promised to give this divine beast ten times the treasures, so don’t you dare go back on your word!”
The despicable donkey retorted, tearing his gaze away from the Xuanwu blood. Knowing it wasn’t meant for him, he turned his thoughts to the more attainable treasures in the Five Elements Heavenly Palace.
“You think everyone is as greedy as you?” Ling Feng scoffed.
With a thought, he enveloped the despicable donkey in a luminous barrier and swiftly stored it back into the Five Elements Heavenly Palace.
“Wow!”
Lin Xian’er exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with surprise. “Ling Feng, what kind of treasure is that? It’s so magical!”
“We can talk about it while we walk,” Ling Feng replied with a faint smile. “Let’s leave this place so Xiaofan can concentrate on refining the Xuanwu blood.”
“Yes, of course,” Lin Xian’er nodded eagerly. She gave Jiang Xiaofan a few words of encouragement before following Ling Feng back to the cave where the villagers of Xuanwu Village were hiding.
After a short while, they returned to the outer cave, only to find that Gu Tengfeng and the others had not yet come back. However, the villagers, who had narrowly escaped disaster, were much calmer now. Once it was confirmed that the demon had left, they could return to the outside world and rebuild their homes.
Mrs. Jiang, seeing that Jiang Xiaofan did not return with Ling Feng, couldn’t help but ask, “Mr. Ling, where is Xiaofan?”
“Xiaofan found an opportunity at the Xuanwu Wall and is currently cultivating,” Ling Feng replied with a gentle smile. “There’s no need to worry, Madam.”
“Mr. Ling, we are just simple folk from the mountains and might not know how to express our gratitude properly. Thank you for helping Xiaofan and for healing Jingjing…” Mrs. Jiang said, her eyes brimming with tears.
“There’s no need to thank me,” Ling Feng replied kindly. He stepped forward and patted little Jingjing on the head while smiling warmly. “How are you feeling, Jingjing? Better now?”
The little girl shyly nestled into her mother’s embrace but couldn’t resist peeking at Ling Feng. “Thank you, Big Brother,” she murmured timidly.
“You’re welcome,” Ling Feng said, squinting his eyes in a smile.
He had grown up without parents. Only his grandfather had raised him, and now even his whereabouts were unknown.
He couldn’t help but feel a pang of envy for Xiaofan, who still had his mother and sister and was able to experience the warmth of family bonds.
At that moment, a figure suddenly burst out from the tunnel leading to the Jiang family estate, exclaiming urgently, “Something’s wrong! Something’s wrong…!”
It was Yun Yiyi, who had been sent back by Gu Tengfeng to call for reinforcements.
“Senior Sister Yun!” Lin Xian’er quickly rushed over to support Yun Yiyi, gripping her shoulders anxiously. “What happened? Where is Captain Gu?”
“Huff… Huff…”
Yun Yiyi patted her chest and took several deep breaths to steady herself. “We found him! We found him!”
“You found the Demon-Masked Man?” Ling Feng stepped forward urgently, his voice tense.
“Yes!” Yun Yiyi nodded vigorously. “Captain Gu is holding off the Demon-Masked Man alone and sent me back to get reinforcements!”
“That demon is utterly insane. Today, we will make sure he doesn’t escape alive!” Ling Feng’s eyes flashed with a cold light. He turned to Mrs. Jiang and said slowly, “Madam, we’re going to deal with that demon. If Xiaofan comes out, please have him wait here for us.”
“Alright.” Mrs. Jiang nodded, concern etched on her face. “Please be careful, all of you.”
“Don’t worry,” Ling Feng assured her. Then he looked at Yun Yiyi and said firmly, “Senior Sister, lead the way!”
“Right!” Yun Yiyi took a deep breath, set aside her fatigue, and immediately used her movement art to guide Ling Feng and Lin Xian’er towards the forest outside Xuanwu Village at a rapid pace.
…
Deep within the dense forest, where daylight never reached and the air was thick with moisture, a heavy mist hung in the air.
Normally a place of solitude, it was unusually lively today.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Powerful gales swept through the forest, toppling trees and shattering them into splinters under the force of the violent energy.
“Void Severing Slash!”
“Soul Devouring Seal!”
Boom! Boom! Boom!
As Gu Tengfeng and the Demon-Masked Lord Lin Canglang clashed fiercely, the ground shook and cracked as if an earthquake had struck, leaving the area in ruins.
At that moment, Gu Tengfeng’s clothes were in tatters and could barely cover his muscular torso. Due to the intense battle, he was drenched in blood and had deep claw marks around his chest, arms, and shoulders. Some wounds even exposed bone!
Despite his injuries, Gu Tengfeng didn’t relent. His attacks grew more fierce as he refused to let the Demon-Masked Lord escape.
“Annoying pest!”
The Demon-Masked Lord gritted his teeth in frustration. He had intended to kill Gu Tengfeng and absorb his essence, but he had underestimated the strength of this student from Tianwei Academy.
“Damn it! If only I had successfully condensed the first Devil’s Wheel, I could have crushed this brat with one hand!”
The Demon-Masked Lord roared, channeling his dark energy to counterattack while a sense of impending doom loomed over him.
He feared that if this dragged on, the reinforcements for this Tianwei Academy student would soon arrive.
“I never expected Gu Tengfeng to be hiding his true strength so well! During the battle in the Misty Hidden Forest, he held back!”
Ye Fan and his group were hidden in the shadows, watching the intense fight unfold with a mixture of surprise and admiration.
“That must be the secret art of the Gu family, the Nine Revolutions of the Unknown Sky!”
Jin Xiuming, the full-bearded student beside Ye Fan, squinted and spoke in a low voice. “Our Jin family has had many dealings with the Gu family, so we know about this secret art. Once activated, it can boost one’s potential and increase strength by about thirty percent!
“However, every secret art has its limits,” Jin Xiuming sneered. “It won’t be long before Gu Tengfeng is completely spent.”
“Heh, when that happens, the Demon-Masked Man will also be on his last legs. We’ll only need to exert a little effort to complete the demon slaying mission and claim our rewards!”
Ye Fan said, a cunning smile spreading across his face as he envisioned Gu Tengfeng, his longtime thorn, lying in a pool of blood.
