The Art of Chaotic Divinity - Chapter 403: The Kennel!
Chapter 403: The Kennel!
Ling Feng pursed his lips slightly and said calmly, “They say that a tiger father doesn’t have a dog for a daughter. Miss Deng is lively and straightforward, and I believe that once I become her teacher, we will get along very well. Don’t you think so?”
As Ling Feng spoke, he nodded at Deng Yongshi, thinking that by praising her a bit, he could make amends and smooth things over for a better relationship in the future.
However, Deng Yongshi heard his words quite differently; to her, it was an open challenge!
General Deng squinted his eyes and smiled. By Ling Feng praising Deng Yongshi as a daughter without a dog’s temperament, he also complimented him indirectly. Naturally, this made him quite pleased. He glanced at Deng Yongshi and said calmly, “Look at you. You’re both young people. Can’t you learn from Ling Feng’s humility and manners? From now on, take him as your role model and learn from him, understand?”
Deng Yongshi was fuming. She gritted her teeth and glared at Ling Feng, thinking to herself, “Take him as a role model? I’d rather kick him to death!”
This shameless man has snatched two valuable items from me right under my nose, and now he has the audacity to come and be my teacher?
There is no one more shameless in the world than this scoundrel!
Yet, she knew very well that while her grandfather spoiled her, he was a man of his word. Once he decided on something, it couldn’t be changed.
So, despite her reluctance, it seemed inevitable that Ling Feng would become her teacher.
Since it couldn’t be changed, she could only accept it.
You want to be my teacher? Just you wait, you brat. I’ll show you who’s the real teacher here!
Deng Yongshi’s anger made her clench her teeth. She glared at Ling Feng and spat out, “Yes, grandfather! I understand!”
As she spoke, she waved a fist at Ling Feng, signaling that if he dared to stay, he would be in for a rough time!
Ling Feng ignored Deng Yongshi’s threats. Until he got his hands on the demonic shen crystal core, he was determined to be her teacher.
It would be best to deal with her within three days to avoid the trouble of running back and forth between Tianwei Academy and the general’s mansion.
As for General Deng, he just squinted at Ling Feng and Deng Yongshi, occasionally stroking his beard while in deep in thought.
The banquet continued with everyone deep in their own thoughts. Half an hour later, General Deng, with a broad smile, instructed Aunt Lan to prepare a room for Ling Feng in the Orchid Pavilion. This clearly meant that Ling Feng could stay there and come and go as he pleased.
The Orchid Pavilion wasn’t exactly a lonely place; apart from Deng Yongshi, there were a dozen maids and Aunt Lan, who had been with the general’s mansion for many years.
Still, Deng Yongshi was infuriated. The Orchid Pavilion was her domain, and now a man was going to live there!
Ling Feng shrugged. If it wasn’t for the Demonic Shen crystal core, he wouldn’t be willing to deal with such a spoiled young lady as Deng Yongshi.
But General Deng wouldn’t tolerate Deng Yongshi’s antics. He used his ability to tear through space and disappeared in a blink, finalizing Ling Feng’s stay at the Orchid Pavilion.
“Mr. Ling, please follow me to Tianyi Pavilion,” Aunt Lan said softly, bowing slightly.
Ling Feng nodded slightly and said calmly, “Alright. I’ll trouble you to lead the way, Aunt Lan.”
“Aunt Lan, how can he stay in Tianyi Pavilion?” Deng Yongshi’s eyes darted as she moved forward to grab Aunt Lan’s arm, her teeth clenched in frustration. “As the owner of Orchid Pavilion, it’s my right to decide where he stays!”
“But…” Aunt Lan knew exactly what Deng Yongshi was up to and tried to reason with her. “Miss, the general…”
“Grandfather only said he could stay here; he didn’t specify where!” Deng Yongshi furrowed her brows, puffing out her cheeks in defiance. “This is my place, and I make the rules!”
Turning around, she shot a haughty glance at Ling Feng and commanded, “Come with me, brat!”
“Miss Deng, if I’m not mistaken, I am now your teacher. Respecting one’s teacher is a tradition in the Tianbai Empire. This isn’t the proper way to treat your teacher,” Ling Feng said with a light, untroubled smile.
“Teacher? You can forget about me ever calling you that!” Deng Yongshi clenched her fists in front of Ling Feng while fuming. “In less than three days, I’ll make you leave on your own!”
“Oh?
” Ling Feng replied with a faint smile. “We’ll see about that.”
“Hmph!” Deng Yongshi huffed, swinging her sleeves dramatically as she walked off. “Come along, brat. I’ll show you the luxurious guest room I’ve prepared for you. Or are you too scared to come?”
Ling Feng smirked. He wasn’t some pampered noble. He had endured rough conditions before. A less-than-ideal room was no big deal to him.
With a soft chuckle, Ling Feng followed Deng Yongshi through the corridors and rooms and they eventually arrived at a courtyard.
“Here it is, your new home,” Deng Yongshi said with a mischievous smile, pointing to the empty courtyard.
“Miss, don’t go too far with this!” Aunt Lan tugged on Deng Yongshi’s sleeve, shaking her head in disapproval.
Ling Feng glanced around. The courtyard was empty—there wasn’t a room in sight.
Deng Yongshi clapped her hands and called out, “Xiao Bai[1], come here!”
Immediately, several loud barks could be heard and a large white dog, almost as tall as a person, came bounding out of a kennel, leaping into Deng Yongshi’s arms and wagging its tail excitedly.
“Xiao Bai, from today onwards you’ll stay in Tianyi Pavilion. As for your old home, we’ll give it to someone shameless enough to steal others’ things and still have the audacity to come to their house. What do you think?”
Deng Yongshi’s words were clearly barbed. She then pointed to the kennel. “Here it is, brat. This is the special accommodation I’ve prepared for you. Isn’t it nice?”
This woman!
Ling Feng clenched his fists. That kennel, luxurious as it might be for a dog, was still a kennel!
Deng Yongshi was obviously calling him a dog in a roundabout way!
“Will you stay or not? Well?” Deng Yongshi’s eyes gleamed with triumph as she saw Ling Feng’s frustrated expression. She then thought to herself, “Let’s see how you handle this, brat.”
“Well, if you don’t want to stay, then I can’t host you any longer. You’d better find another place to sponge off,” Deng Yongshi said, placing her hands on her hips in a victorious stance. She was ready to see Ling Feng storm off which would suit her just fine.
If he did decide to stay in the kennel, it would be even better. She could mock him forever and spread the word around the imperial capital, ruining his reputation.
Deng Yongshi’s grin widened at the thought. “Hmph! You’re still too green to take me on!”
