The Ascension Of Astrid - Chapter 1 The End Is Just The Beginning
Astrid’s beautiful face was as cold as ever. Her golden eyes stared blankly at her friends. She thought she had found a new family in that group, but apparently she had been wrong again.
“Do you know Astrid? There was always an agreement between the church and the empire to get rid of the last threat after the death of the Demon Lord. You.” Tlio the man with the title of hero spoke as he looked at Astrid with disappointment.
“It would have been easier if you had died during the battle, but I honestly think we all underestimated your strength.” Gerald completed, he was one of the knights in charge of the mission.
The group of six people looked at Astrid with their guns pointed, their faces possessed a mixture of emotions, while some looked sad about what they had to do, others were just showing indifference. Sincerely? She was not surprised.
Astrid was sad, but not surprised. She knew the church had raised her and brought her up to be a disposable weapon. Something like taming a demon to kill another demon.
Astrid just looked at them, an arrow was piercing her belly while she was standing defensively. She knew that if distracted herself then she would be dead. It hurt like hell to be betrayed that way, but it would not give the chance to be killed.
This had been the last chance she’d ever given to these people and shit society. Her golden eyes glowed even more electrifying now, her black skin was full of beads of sweat. But his concentration was at its highest level.
She knew she had only one chance to turn the tables in her favor. That old magic of teleportation, which she discovered not too long ago, was the only thing that could help her in this situation.
Astrid smiled sadly at her ex-group mates. And then a series of golden magic circles began to appear around her.
As if this were a cue the other six threw all their attacks at her. Tears of blood began to fall from Astrid’s face, just as blood began to flow through her mouth and nose as well. His wounds were finally taking a toll on his tired, weak body.
“She’s going to implode!” Vanessa, the priestess of the group shouted when she saw the magic circles around Astrid’s body. Quickly a shower of attacks fell on Astrid’s body after Vanessa’s warning cry.
Astrid’s sad, resolute smile was etched in everyone’s mind as her body shone through the attacks. After that there was a big explosion, leaving behind only dust and smoke that remained in the air next to a large crater, that appeared in the same place where Astrid was before the attack.
At the same time, Astrid found herself falling with everything inside a lake of dark waters. With difficulty because of the heavy mantle, she crawled out of the water and fell back on the slope of the lake.
At that moment a beautiful smile bloomed on Astrid’s face.
Free! She was finally free!
“Ha ha ha…” Astrid’s laughter started low, but soon it was reverberating through the forest, even the birds seemed to agree with the sound she made, singing along.
