The Ascension Of Astrid - Chapter 5 The One Who Reigns
Astrid knew that the remnants of this fight would be too tempting for other high-ranking creatures and that the blood matrix would not be enough. With that in mind, Astrid washed the entrance of the cave with spells of water and air to make everything dry, and then built a large stone wall to seal the entrance for at least a while.
All the while the Silver Fenrir kept noticing Astrid’s actions, he found it a bit amusing the way she acted, but she had nothing against it. His tail was shaking with happiness even without realizing it.
After finishing her spells and preparing new matrices of concealment and protection, which completed the blood matrix, Astrid was truly relieved. After the ordeal of the heroes she, felt extremely wary of anything that might happen.
When Astrid turned to see the Silver Fenrir, he was seated the Blood Bear was by his side and he wagged his tail excitedly. That brought a smile to Astrid’s face as well, it was fun to be with someone who was sincere with their feelings even without realizing it.
Seeing him like this, Astrid realized that she had never received true friendship from her supposed hero friends, but she did not really feel bitter about it. She was happy to realize that it was never too late to start, think of those that have done evil, and keep the sadness and anger would not make her feel better.
Astrid then guided the Fenrir to the water fountain, and saw his tail wagging even stronger than before, it looked like he was going to take off at any moment. Without thinking twice the Fenrir dropped the bear’s body and went to the fountain to drink it. After he was satisfied the Silver Fenrir turned to her and sat watching her, then tilted her head to the side.
The Fenrir pointed at the bear with its paw a few times, stamping its paw on the ground.
Astrid stared blankly at him for a while, but then as if the thought occurred to her she asked him, “Do you want me to dismantle it for you?”
The big Fenrir nodded once, it was funny to Astrid to see how he could look so magnificent and at the same time so silly after spending more time with him. Astrid agreed to Fenrir’s petition and began to dismantle the bear with the dagger she had previously thrown away.
Dismantling the bear was relatively easy, but time consuming by the size of his body. Astrid took out each part separately and placed next to the Silver Fenrir, after she finished she breathed heavily while she was totally sweaty from the job.
The Blood Bear’s mana core was almost as large as an ostrich egg and glowing brightly in a vibrant red color, Astrid handed the mana core to the Silver Fenrir. mana cores were extremely important for great spells, magical tools and other uses, but for a creature like Silver Fenrir, the mana core could trigger a new evolution.
Astrid looked expectantly at the Silver Fenrir, she always wanted to witness an evolution and that was a unique moment. Well, she knew it might come to nothing, but it did not hurt to try.
The Silver Fenrir took the mana nucleus with his mouth and bit it before swallowing, it seemed that the core was extremely soft and pleasant when in fact it was almost as hard as diamond.
Time passed slowly, and it seemed that nothing was going to change within the Silver Fenrir, but that changed when a silver light with red rays enveloped the Fenrir’s body, leaving Astrid momentarily blinded by the intensity of the light.
Soon after this, mana waves began to leak from Fenrir’s body, even pushing Astrid away because of its intensity.
When the waves finally stopped, they were followed by a loud howl that reverberated through the walls of the cave until reaching the outside of the forest, from that moment in the world of beasts and monsters a new king was born.
