The Assassin And The Alpha - Chapter 53
Once they’ve reached the pack house, tons of pack members were shooting judgemental looks at Kelly. She was starting to feel self-conscious as they climbed the long flight of stairs leading up to Emily’s supposed room.
As they were walking, a girl collided head first against Ryder’s chest. She fell on the ground butt first as she yelled out in pain. “Ow!”
Kelly immediately took action by going to help her up. Ryder, on the other hand, showed no signs of wanting to help.
“Ryder, can’t you be much more of a gentleman and help her?” Kelly chided as she glared at him.
“Say that again.” His usual expression seemed to have changed in that instant.
“Say what? ‘Can’t you be more of a gentleman and help her?’.” She questioned. The girl that was being helped up by Kelly was mesmerized by Ryder.
“No, repeat my name.” The color of his eyes seemed to alternate between his usual amber to a shade of green.
“R-Ryder,” Kelly mumbled as her face started turning red for some unknown reason.
The look on his face seemed to have softened as he approached her and gently patted her forehead. The girl had been knocked down was now looking at him intently.
“Hi, my name is Miliana.” She introduced as she stretched her hands out towards Ryder, totally ignoring Kelly’s existence.
Ryder looked at Miliana’s outstretched hands and snickered.
“Don’t mind him. My name is Kelly.” She turned her body towards Miliana and gave her a slight smile.
Miliana was displeased by Ryder’s reaction.
“I am Alpha Derek’s daughter.” She said with a look of arrogance as though it was supposed to intimidate them.
“So? Come on Kelly, let’s go.” Ryder did not bother entertaining her as he dragged Kelly away.
Ryder now has Kelly’s hands in his as he pulled her along beside him leaving Miliana behind with a look of shock on her face.
“Ryder, why were you so mean towards her?” Kelly asked as she was slightly confused by his anger.
“She doesn’t deserve my niceness.” His reply was brief and straightforward.
After walking past several rooms, Ryder and Kelly stopped right outside of Emily’s room door. Or at least it should be as Ryder agreed on bringing her to meet Emily.
“So, are you ready?” he turned towards Kelly and asked.
“I guess.” She took a huge breath in as she replied.
He reached out to knock on the door. ‘Bong, bong, bong.’ A few minutes passed but no reply. There was no, ‘I’m coming.’ or ‘Come in.’ it was just absolute silence.
Kelly’s scrunched up her brows and looked towards Ryder.
“You weren’t lying to me when you agreed on bringing me to Emily, right?” Voices of doubts started arising in her.
“How could you say that. I would never lie to you.” He had on a sullen look.
Their bickering seemed to have caused a bit of a ruckus, waking a very cranky Carly up from her beauty sleep.
“Shut up! I’m trying to sleep here!” Carly growled out in anger as she pushed her room door open. Kelly had on a look of annoyance as she glared at Carly which wasn’t the best thing to do at the moment.
“Ryder, we’ve already told you so many times. Do not bring your flings back to the pack house?!” The crankiness was definitely in full swing as Carly snarled at Ryder.
“Carly, she is my mate, Kelly.” He said between clenched teeth as he was close to unleashing his choler on her. Kelly was agitated, but she did not let it get the best of her.
“Whatever, just let me sleep.” Carly was about to close her room door but was interrupted.
“Where is Emily? We need to talk to her.” Ryder’s tone wasn’t particularly good.
“Alvin’s room, now go away.” Carly yawned as she replied and closed the room door once they’ve left.
Neither Ryder nor Kelly wanted to converse with Carly any longer with her terrible attitude. He pulled her along towards the direction of Alvin’s room, within seconds, they were standing in front of another similar room door. This time around, he immediately knocked on the door.
‘Bong.’
‘Bong.’
The door was pushed opened without any prior warning revealing Alvin’s half-naked torso on full display. Ryder’s first reaction was to use his hands and cover Kelly’s eyes, preventing her from seeing anything.
“Ryder, why are you here so early in the morning?” He let out a yawn while stretching.
“Sorry Al, Kelly here needs to talk to Emily,” Ryder said sheepishly.
“Oh, she is still resting,” He said while leaning against the door frame.
“By the way, can you put on something? I don’t want to stain my mate’s eyes.” Ryder jokingly said.
“Pft, my physique is sculpted like a God, but alright give me a second.”
He disappeared into the room to put on some clothes while Ryder let go of his hands that were covering Kelly’s eyes. She stood there totally not knowing what to do or say, as the thought of facing Emily is already plaguing her mind with negative thoughts. The door was pushed open once again, this time round revealing a clothed Alvin.
Alvin shot Ryder an unsettling look as he questioned him.
“So, can I trust her enough to let her into the room?” He looked towards Kelly then back towards Ryder which he responded with a nod.
“If I wanted to end you or Em, I wouldn’t be so stupid as to enter in by the front door.” Kelly rolled her eyes and said in ridicule.
“Fine. But if you try anything funny, I will end you.”Alvin’s eyes held a sense of danger, meaning that he meant what he said.
“She wouldn’t hurt anyone.” Ryder’s eyes were dangerously switching from amber to green, indicating that Ace was on the verge of taking over.
“Stand down. I am your alpha, and you will do as I say.” His tone radiated power and strength which caused Ryder to back off a little due to the hierarchy in the pack. But that did not mean it stopped Kelly.
“Al? Where are you?” A sweet voice could be heard from within the room, Alvin stopped what he was about to do and turned towards the origins of the voice.
“Yes, princess. I’m here.”
