The Assassin’s Enemy Lover - Chapter 553
553 “With pleasure yes,”
He cleared his throat as Zi Han poured out the last one. This time he gulped thrice as he talked himself into drinking it. After breathing out deeply he tilted his head backwards and drank it all.
Once finished he showed the shot glass as he said, “I promise you I would never hurt you again. Thank you for giving me a chance.”
“He gave you a chance but I didn’t. You have to at least drink one for my pain and suffering. As a mother, my child is my heart and you treated my treasure horribly. For me you have to drink one only then can we continue with this discussion,” said Zi Xingxi as she took the bottle from Zi Han and poured it out.
Yi Zhen wisely accepted it. His wife had already made him understand his wrongs and could understand how Zi Xingxi felt because he also almost lost his son.
“I apologise for putting you through that. From now on I promise to treat your son as my own,” he said his eyes sincere before he drank it down.
Just as he thought the ordeal was over, Zi Feiji beckoned him over.
“I also deserve an apology. You are so stubborn and were very disrespectful to your senior even when I tried to tell you that you were wrong. Power truly got into your head. For me, one is not enough. Drink two,” he said and Yi Zhen who was already feeling like he was standing on clouds, accepted the punishment.
It took him longer than usual to drink the two shots after apologising to his senior for his wrongdoings. After that everyone looked at Yeoh Jun as though expecting him to say something but Yeoh Jun laughed softly while saying, “We hashed it out already,” that beating was no joke so…. yep.
“Okay then, now that it’s finalised we can move on to the exciting part,” said Grandpa Lin watching his son in law stagger a little before he slumped onto the couch while draping his hand on the backrest behind Lin Ruoxi.
…..
“It is our tradition that we have a betrothal ceremony, only the heavens know how we have butchered that after so many generations. We aren’t going to be too strict about things so may the groom present the betrothal gifts to the um other groom’s parents,” he said trying to figure out how it would work between two young men.
It was easier for him to figure it out when it was his daughter because she was automatically deemed the bride. As for these two, there was some ambiguity plus this was his first same-sex couple betrothal thus he had no idea how it works.
“We decided as a family that Han Han will marry out but it really doesn’t make a difference to us because they are both our sons,” said Yeoh Jun and Yi Zhen was a little surprised. Let’s just say that he had been cut out of the family discussion ever since he was declared a repeat offender for offending their in law.
Yi Chen leaned closer to Zi Han’s ear and asked, “Are you sure that’s what you want? I don’t mind marrying in.”
Zi Han covered his mouth under everyone’s gazes and whispered in his ear. “Your dad broke my wrist and this is the only way I will get that mine. I want it for our future kids.”
Yi Chen, “…”
Who knew this was more about shaking compensation out of the former Marshal? Well, he did the crime and should pay the price.
“Okay,” whispered Yi Chen before standing up along with his aunt and his mother. He had prepared so many gifts for Zi Han and almost fought with his grandma over this, well, that was before she met Zi Han. Now that she met him she wouldn’t mind bringing out all her jewellery to give this amazing cutie.
The three of them picked up the gifts with the help of the attendants in the house and brought them all over. Because they didn’t want outsiders they had Yi Feng’s mother act as the matchmaker.
Zi Han had never been to any betrothal ceremony or wedding for that matter so this was a novel experience for him. There were so many gifts from roast pork, wedding cake, hard liquor, wine, candles, cigars, and lots of jewellery including watches, pendants and maybe it was his illusion but he did see some pearl earrings in there.
Zi Xingxi seemed very much satisfied with the wine and she couldn’t wait to open it. After that Zi Han gave some of the gifts to Yi Chen as part of the ceremony.
One gift stood out in particular causing Yeoh Jun to double-take. He leaned back and asked Zi Xingxi, “Is that?”
“Yep… don’t ask,” she replied not wanting to hear it. She already heard about the mirror thing and didn’t want to know more about the ancient tonic for increasing endurance in bed.
Yeoh Jun heard what she said but he wasn’t willing to let it go. “They don’t need it but we do so… how about we keep it for ourselves,” he whispered his eyes looking at that red box like a hawk.
Zi Xingxi smacked his shoulder with her backhand and whispered, “Stop staring. Your endurance is bloody fine. What are you trying to do? Kill me?”
“With pleasure yes,” replied Yeoh Jun the two of them almost buzzed.
Let’s not even mention Yi Zhen. The man was as silent as a mouse with his hand resting on his forehead like he had passed out.
“Time to eat. We can all move to the garden so we can accommodate everyone,” said Grandpa Lin, and Ming Ming who had sat long enough waiting ran out so fast like she was afraid they will change their minds.
“Let’s go feast. I want some wine as well,” yelled Lin Ruoxi ready to get turned up and she didn’t leave her husband behind either. Today they were bound to learn new things about their families. How fun.
