The Beautiful Monster - Chapter 273 What happened
Chapter 273 What happened
Melina was determined to make today feel like a normal school day. She was tired of being worried about crazy things that she couldn’t control. What she could control was her attendance in class, getting her homework done, and studying for finals.
She was determined to do all of that to the best of her ability because she wanted to finish this final year strong, despite all that had happened this semester.
It had been the best and worst semester of her life. The weird happening and Blair betraying her had been horrible. The lies also sucked. However, she met Tyler and learned that she had a set of caring parents and a twin brother. She hoped that remained a positive point in the future when she met them all.
For now, she just wanted to be a student with a raging crush on her boyfriend. In fact, she wasn’t even sure if a raging crush fully expressed how she felt about Tyler.
She felt like the feeling was deeper, more passionate. It made her blush just thinking about it. How had she fallen for him so fast?
She walked down the hallway to her class, her bag swinging from her shoulder as she moved. It felt good to be going through a normal day.
Other students were struggling to get to class without falling asleep on her feet, but she moved with a spring in her step. She was determined to ace whatever lesson was brought up in Professor Samson’s class.
“There’s the bitch. Melina!”
Melina paused right outside of Professor Samson’s classroom, sighing when she saw how close she was. She turned around to see Octavia, Carly, and Ivy stalking their way over to her with glares on their faces.
She tensed up slightly at the sight of the three of them marching toward her, but she stood her ground.
She had to be brave, which meant facing threats. They were definitely a threat, telling from the angry looks on their faces.
“Yes?” she questioned them. Other students moved past her to go into Professor Samson’s classroom, while some others lingered out in the hallway to see what was going on.
The tension was impossible to ignore as the three popular girls stopped right in front of Melina.
“What did you do to Blair?” Octavia spat, her red hair bouncing in a high ponytail.
“What do you mean?” Melina asked in as calm of a voice as she could muster. It wasn’t like she had seen or heard from Blair since the attack in the forest. She didn’t want to see Blair either.
“She’s gone! The last we heard was that she was with you in the forest. Then, she went missing,” Ivy sneered, looking at Melina with disgust in her eyes.
Melina felt uneasy as they all looked at her in accusatory manners. She hadn’t done anything wrong! Blair had been the one to betray her and work for an awful demon who wanted to destroy the world that they knew. She was the victim here, but Blair’s brainwashed friends weren’t going to believe her.
“I didn’t do anything to her. She stormed off when we were in the forest. I have no idea where she went,” Melina said evenly. She didn’t want to start a fight, even if Blair’s friends came up to her to try to start one.
She was going to take the high road if she could, but she would defend herself if need be. She refused to let these snobby girls beat her down. They didn’t deserve the satisfaction.
“Liar! I knew you were a freak,” Carly shouted at Melina. “You probably killed her and buried her in the woods.”
Melina stared at Carly in bewilderment. She couldn’t believe that she was being accused of doing things that she didn’t do! She hadn’t even laid a hand on Blair.
Blair and Tyler were the ones who got into a fight, but Blair took off with a limp. She was lurking around somewhere because her job wasn’t finished yet.
“I didn’t do anything to her,” she said in a low voice full of warning. She wasn’t going to stand there and be accused of something that she didn’t do. She refused to get in trouble over that.
“Bitch!” Octavia screamed before lashing out to grab a handful of Melina’s hair.
Melina gritted her teeth in pain as Octavia pulled on her hair. She couldn’t believe that it came to a fight, but she was going to get herself out of this without getting too hurt. She grabbed Octavia’s wrist and twisted it painfully, making Octavia yelp and release Melina’s hair.
Carly and Ivy scrambled to put their things down so that they could help Octavia, holding plastic cups of hot tea in their hands.
Melina didn’t want them to join in. That would just make things harder for her. She put her hand out, focusing on the liquid in the cups and adding pressure. The cups burst apart, hot tea exploding all over the girls as they cried out.
“What’s going on out here?” Professor Samson demanded as he stormed out of his classroom and into the hallway to see what all the noise was.
Melina lowered her hand quickly, stepping to the side and away from Octavia and the other girls. She didn’t want to get in trouble when she was the one who was approached and then attacked first. It wouldn’t be fair since she just defended herself.
“She did this to us!” Carly cried out dramatically as hot tea dripped off her face, hair, and clothes. Ivy cried beside her, while Octavia cradled her hurt wrist.
Melina had to force herself to not roll her eyes at them. She also had to keep herself from smiling. She couldn’t help but be a little proud of herself. She defended herself well, using her magic and a trick that she learned from Tyler. She couldn’t wait to tell him about this. He would be so proud.
Professor Samson eyed them for a moment before shaking his head and sighing.
“Octavia, infirmary. You two, go get cleaned up,” he told them.
“What about her?” Octavia demanded as she glared at Melina.
“I’ll talk to her. Now, go,” Professor Samson said, motioning for them to run off. When they finally did, Professor Samson turned to face Melina. “Now, what actually happened?”
