The Beloved Fiancee Is Likely to Be the Villain - CH 25.2
The following week, I went to the garden of the West School Building at the designated time, and Miss Ulysses was already waiting for me there.
The trees in the garden were trimmed in a rounded shape, and a the water of a fountain splashed into the pond in the center, creating a rainbow. It was a beautiful sight, but I couldn’t help but feel nervous.
I stopped far enough away from Ulysses in case she tried to hug me.
“Hello.”
“Good day, Your Highness Vincent. I’ve missed you so much.”
“I’m sorry. I’ve been busy.”
So, I’m going to abbreviate your name. And don’t pout your lips.
I swallowed my honest feeling that I had another appointment and I didn’t want to meet her carelessly otherwise.
I had been avoiding Miss Ulysses for the past week. I hid behind Harold when we moved to the classroom, and when I had to stay after school, I called up Raphael, Ulysses’ natural enemy, and asked him to stay with me.
Even with all of this, the thought of this day made my stomach churn with gloomy thoughts. I wouldn’t bother to approach her myself, let alone meet her.
My stomach was already turning over with nervousness and anxiety. I have symptoms like heartburn even though I haven’t eaten much at lunch.
It’s not that I’m mentally weak, it’s that I knew that Miss Ulysses will target Elizabeth.
If something happened, I had to save Ulysses, not Elizabeth. Otherwise, there would be a conflict with the scenario. Thinking about it makes me want to throw up …….
“Ah.”
I looked up and saw several young ladies walking from the central school building.
In the center of the group was Elizabeth, who I could not have been mistaken. Miss Margaret was also there.
The other side also noticed Miss Ulysses. The faces of the ladies, including Miss Margaret, were tense.
However, only Elizabeth remained calm and smiling.
“Excuse me a little, Your Highness.”(Ulysses)
Hey, what are you doing here?
For some reason, Miss Ulysses approached Elizabeth and the group with leisurely steps. She picked up the hem of her skirt, bowed, and spoke to Elizabeth about something.
One of the ladies made a gesture to stop her, but Elizabeth held up her hand to stop the lady. It was hard to be an escort in a situation like this when you have not clearly stated that you are an escort.
The ladies reluctantly nodded and left. Miss Ulysses may have urge Elizabeth to talk privately because I saw them walking somewhere.
They moved to the side of the pond and talked for a while. No voices were heard. The remaining ladies did not seem to understand what they were talking about. Miss Margaret was staring at Miss Ulysses with a devilish expression on her face.
Elizabeth was nodding her head in annoyance. She was not saying much, and it seems that Miss Ulysses was doing most of the talking.
Suddenly, Elizabeth extended her hand toward Miss Ulysses.
It was a slow movement, not in any way dangerous.
“Kyaaaah!”
Miss Ulysses let out a loud scream and stumbled toward the edge of the pond.
What?
Everyone let out a loud gasp – they watched the incident happening with the expression, “What is happening?” on their face.
The pond was artificial and shallow. It was obvious that Miss Ulysses had fallen in on herself. Even though some people, including me, had a look of dismay on their faces, no one was worried.
However, the situation changed the next moment.
“Watch out!”
With a cry, Elizabeth grabbed Ulysses’ hand.
However, it was not enough to support Ulysses, who was falling down on her own, and Elizabeth also lost her position.
“Elizabeth!”
“Miss Elizabeth!”
The ladies immediately started to run. But of course, there was no way they would make it in time.
I quickly stretched out my hand. Before I could think, my mouth was spinning a spell.
“Wind, draw in Gravito-Windia!”
A layer of compressed air gushed from my palm.
It became wind and wrapped around Elizabeth’s body diagonally. With a soft thud, Elizabeth’s toes touched the ground and she immediately landed on her feet, without a single stain or blemish on her dress.
However, Elizabeth’s eyebrows were furrowed and she had a sad expression on her face.
Her gaze was at her right hand, which had been winded and emptied.
“–Oh no.”
Splash!
As soon as I thought, “Oh no,” Miss Ulysses fell into the pond with a loud sound.
Because Elizabeth supported her once and then let her go, her center of gravity was greatly disrupted, and she probably would have ended up in the water up to her waist if she had stayed in it, but she was soaking wet all over.
…… I’ve done it.
I’m not going to give you a thumbs up, Miss Margaret. If Harold were here, he would surely warn you about the disrespect.
I was stunned and then saw Elizabeth hold out her hand toward the pond in front of Miss Ulysses to help her out. I huffed in frustration and started to run. I have to play the ‘Hero saving the beauty’ part after all
I run to her and say, “Are you all right, Miss Ulysses!”
I was able to act as if Elizabeth was the one who had pushed her into the pond.
I gently pushed Elizabeth and lent a hand to Miss Ulysess. The magic was not worth it if Elizabeth’s dress, which she had gone to the trouble of protecting, got wet by water.
Miss Ulysses had a blank look on her face, but her face lit up when she saw me.
She was a lowly noblewoman from a commoner’s background and was not familiar with magic. It seems that she conveniently interpreted the current situation in her mind as “Elizabeth pushed me away and the Crown Prince came to her rescue”.
Her track record of blessings had, conversely, blocked her doubts. It’s a double-edged sword, I sighed inwardly.
“Thank you, Your Highness ……. I was very scared. ……”
“I’m sorry, it’s my fault.”
“No, it’s not. ……”
I wanted to refuse with all my might because I was feeling both ashamed and well aware of the eyes that were staring at us. They looked at me and Ulysses with murderous eyes.
I’m scared too, Miss Ulysses.
“I’ll take Ulysses home. I’ll call Harold for you. You were on your way to the west wing, weren’t you? Don’t mind me and continue where you were going.”
I mean, please don’t look at me like I’m about to be shot to death.
Elizabeth thought for a moment at my words, but then bowed her head and returned to the ladies, saying, “I understand.” The ladies around her was shocked and angry at the development. The way I sent Elizabeth away was like I chided her and took Miss Ulysses back to the school building.
As she looked behind her one last time, I saw her face scrunched up even though she was trying to maintain her composure.
My eyebrows furrowed and my lips curled into a helpless smile.
“Um, Your Highness, I don’t mind. ……”
Mistaking Elizabeth’s displeasure as anger for her, Miss Ulysses laughed softly.
“No, no, Miss Ulysses.”
Even though I said I would call Harold, Elizabeth allowed her and I to be alone. She allowed me to offer her(Ulysses) a ride home. Even though she is my fiancée and had the right to be escorted by me, not Miss Ulysses.
Even after all this, I couldn’t see a trace of jealousy on Elizabeth’s face. I don’t think she doubted that there was something going on between her(Ulysses) and me.
If she was a villainess in a novel, she would be in a situation where she would abuse the hero, but she has never done that.
She didn’t seem to understand what everything was about.
Miss Ulysses, you are not being taken seriously by Elizabeth.
…… And I, too, am not taking it seriously with Elizabeth. ……
