The Bewitched Soul - Chapter 3 The Crystal
The year 1885
The sun rays penetrated through the glass windows, scattering all over the room. A feeble ray of moted dust-light filtered down from the tapered opening.
As the rays fell on her, the sleeping beauty, who had a thick, long, black delicate eyelashes which were archly curved, fluttered it like butterfly wings. A pair of dreamy sapphire blue eyes, adjusting to the sunlight was half opened. Her long, smooth, thick blonde hair spread all across the bed untamed and shone brightly against the sun rays. The rays poured on her porcelain-like skin, which gave a soft, dim radiance to her overall appearance. Her small sharp nose twitched. She started licking her plump lips which had a tint of red.
Waking up smiling, she rubbed her eyes. She was beautiful.
“Oh God! It’s 6:30”, she glanced at the clock beside her as she rushed to the bathroom. She took a quick shower and came back to the room. She hurriedly combed her hair and fixed it into a messy bun. Few strands fell on her nape and few on her smooth shoulder. She quickly changed into a beige colored gown, which perfectly covered her curves and gave her a warm look.
After getting ready, she hurried down the stairs and rushed to a room which was way bigger than hers.
“Wake up sister Caroline,” she spoke softly to a girl who was wrapped in a blanket.
“Sister Caroline, please wake up. It’s already seven.” she gently removed the blanket.
“What the hell!! How dare you to wake me up this early? Get out!!” screamed Caroline.
“My apologies, mother wants to see you, she had asked me last night to wake you up early in the morning. She needs to discuss something with you.” with stern eyes, she spoke softly, but her voice demanded.
“Fine, now get lost out of my sight!”, Caroline finally woke up and cursed her mother and Margaret under her breath.
Within an hour, Caroline got dressed up. She wore a dress which Margaret had earlier kept it on the table.
Moving towards the living room, she saw Margaret greet her parents.
“Good morning mother, Good morning father.” Margaret greeted.
“Good morning dear” Corbette smiled.
“Did you inform her?” asked Liliana.
“Yes mother, she must be coming in—“, Margaret’s voice was cut off by Caroline.
“Morning mother, morning father”, she wished.
“Good morning”, wished Corbette.
“Good morning my darling..”, wished Liliana.
“Why did you ask me to wake up this early mother?”, Caroline frowned as she spoke.
“When will you learn basic ethics, Caroline? Why are you so irresponsible? You have grown up and you need to change. Look at Margaret! She’s so well mannered and disciplined. She is punctual and values time unlike you who keeps sleeping all day long. It’s really sad to see one of my daughters getting spoiled so easily. “, complained Corbette.
“Now stop it Corbette. She has just woke up now. Can’t you how dreamy she looks?”, Lilian glared at her husband.
“Father, this bi*ch is not your daughter! I’m your blood. She’s an orphan, whom you picked up from somewhere. She does–“, as Caroline spoke, a tight slap landed on her face.
She touched the burning area of a face and was dazzled for a moment. Realizing what happened, she glared at Margaret.
‘This girl is a bad fortune’ she cursed her step sister under her breath.
Seeing her daughter hurt, Liliana rushed to her and embraced her. She glared at her husband while stroking her daughter’s back gently. “She is your daughter Corbette! Why do you give this mere human so much importance? She’s a no match for our family! When will you realize?” she shouted.
Corbette kept calm and tried not to burst his anger out on his wife.
He gently asked Margaret to leave.
“You may leave Margaret.” the girl nodded before leaving.
She rushed to her bedroom, tears started rolling randomly like rivulets down her face. She quickly shut the door close as she leaned against the door. She let her heart cry out completely. The side of the eyes reddened as she kept on crying till her eyes swelled.
Feeling a cold sensation in her chest, she noticed the pendant which her mother gave. She held it close to her heart and whispered ‘Momma’. She closed her eyes and kissed it.
Suddenly a sapphire blue color radiated from the pendant, the color same as her eyes. Surprised by the sudden radiance, she glanced at the pendant. The pendant was a clear crystal, with no marks on it. It was rather strange to see the pure white crystal change its color. It had radiated the same color after 15 years.
After noticing, she saw a strange mark engraved deep inside the pendant. She found the mark familiar. She stood and rushed towards her mirror. She removed her dress hurriedly, leaving herself in her undergarments. Her hands touch each and every part, only when she noticed a mark on her left chest. A crescent moon surrounded by three stars, which joined formed a triangle which looked like they were meant to protect the moon. Holding onto the necklace, she found that the pendant was back to its pure crystal form.
Too many questions flooded her mind, all at once. She realized that this pendant was no ordinary.
She believed that deep within the pendant, laid the answers of her flooding questions. She knew that she was not an ordinary human. She questioned her identity.
Having faith in herself, she started her journey to find who she was and what was her identity.
Meanwhile, in Brookville, the King’s ring gave a brief glow.
The main continent, Ceadon is divided into four provinces, namely the land of Brookville, the land of Ostbarrow, the land of Wintermere and the land of Shadowlake.
To maintain peace among the four provinces, the mythical creatures such as the vampires, witches, dragons and werewolves lived in their respective province. Humans resided in all provinces. The land of Brookville was ruled by Lord Alexander, a pure-blood vampire. Strongest among all the kings, he held special powers, half of which were unknown to others. As the province of vampires, under the rule of the Lord, the humans and vampires lived peacefully.
“She’s alive”, the Lord looked at the ring and smiled, a gentle smile through which one could see his soul. He was assured that the one he had been searching for 15 years, is alive and survived the massacre.
“Where are you?” he said looking at the ring which returned to its pure crystal form.
Twenty-five years ago.
“Brother, please! I’m in love with the girl.” the man pleaded with his hands folded. His sapphire blue eyes looked like a swirling ocean which could suck one’s soul into it.
“Jacob, do you have any idea what you’re even talking about?” the Lord spoke as he glared at his younger cousin.
“I know right! What I know is that I love her.” Jacob spoke as he looked through the window. His disheveled platinum blonde hair swayed along with the rhythm of the wind.
“Your child will be a highly pure-blooded. It’s not a taboo, but the child may possess some extraordinary powers Jacob which may cause trouble in the future.” the Lord warned him.
for visiting.
“Like you?” smirked Jacob.
The Lord stood still.
The Lord, known for his unmatched beauty, the perfectly sculpted face had the best blood lineage. He was a pure-blood, high on ranks. His eyes were one of a kind. The pair of hazel eyes had the ability to make a person drown in them. The beauty of his eyes was momentarily covered by the shield of his eyelashes, thick, long as they downcast a shadow on his face, every time they fluttered. His chiseled shaped straight nose gave a royal look to his overall looks. His strong jawline has a more angular and symmetrical look, good enough to make anyone lose their minds. The tall and well-built stature emitted a royal aura.
He looked like a perfect painting, painted by an old painter.
He had a devil-may-care outlook and a starry smile.
His lineage identity was a secret, except for the familiars who were close to him.
“Let the history repeat itself, Alex”, Jacob looked sincerely into Lord’s eyes.
