The Billionaire’s Song - Chapter 27 It Can'st Be
I woke up early as usual and decided to take a walk on the beach. I climbed onto a cliff and sat there, as I watched surfers and speed boats that where whizzing by.
I was lost in my thoughts when I noticed a driver had somehow lost control of his speed boat and it was heading straight at me, at lightning speed. . I quickly scrambled to my feet and gotout of the way just on time. The speed boat did a 360 and then came crashing into the cliff. The heavy impact caused the rock to split open and collapse into a heap of rubble.
Iran back down the cliff, to check if any one was injured. I ran over to the ruins andstarted throwing off the stones as fast as I could. The boat was upside down and itwas lodged into the cliff. It was difficult to see if they were any survivors. I started to work my way to the injured person and threw off the rocks that were strewn all over the boat.
Then I heard afaint cough, a small weak cough coming from behind the rocks. Then I heard another scream for help coming fromthe other side of the wreckage, which was very confusing because I clearly remember seeing only one man on the boat.
“Hello-I don’t know if you can hear me but my name is Kyle,” I called out to the person.
” I’m going to check on your friend-that was on the boat with you- okay? I’ll be right back.”
I ran over to the other side and sure enough there was a guy stuck underneath. I peered through and tried to assess the damage. His legs seemed to be stuck otherwise he seemed to be in one piece.
“Hey, My name is Kyle,” I repeated, “Are you injured? Can you move?” I asked as a leaned over him.
“Hey-you’re Kyle-Kyle Kinley..I love you man..you’re my hero!” He exclaimed and held out his hand.
“Thanks man. What’s your name?” I shook his hand.
“My name is Henry..my legs seem to be stuck but everything else seems okay?” he winced.
I lifted up the heavy boardthat had fallen onto his legs and he slowly slithered out.I dragged him onto the sand and noticed there were deep gashes in his thighs, he was bleeding profusely.I ripped off my -shirt and removed his as well, then I tied them round his thighs to try and stop the bleeding.I called for an ambulance and assured Henry help was on the way.
“Listen Henry-was there anyone else on the boat?” I asked.
“No-I was alone,” He replied, looking guilty. He looked like he was about sixteen years old and chances were he had taken the boat without permission.
So who was that other person?
“Are you sure?” I asked him again.
“Yeah, positive,” he confirmed.
“Look, I heard someone coughing just over there- when your boat crashed into the cliff. You don’t know who that could be do you?” I asked.
“What? No I don’t-are they okay?” He asked concerned.
“That’s what I’m going to find out,” I replied, “I’m going to check on the other person and I’ll be right back.” I said as I dashed back to the other person.
Itried to find some sort of opening that I could get through to them.I circled the area and found a small opening between the rocks thatwas big enough for me to slide myself through. There was a strong, revolting smell that hit me as soon as I put my head through.
The floor was damp and slippery. It was also pitch black so I switched on the torch app on my phone. I flashed it around and was met with the most horrific sight. There was a woman lying on the hard cold ground and her hands and legs were shackled. Her mouth was gagged and she was lying very still. The chain on the shackles wasnailed firmly into the wall as a guarantee that the prisoner had no way of escape.
I crouched over her to feel her pulse, it was there but very faint. She was scantily dressed in only a black silk camisole. Her wrists and her ankles were badly bruised because of the shackles, the blood had dried. She was lying on her side. Her wild, unkempt hair was covering her face.
Who could have done such an atrocious thing to another human being? She was shackled like an animal for what seemed to be a very long period of time. I reached over and brushed her long hair from her face and leaned in closer to look at her face.
Maya!
It couldn’t be!
But it was. I could tell it was her even if I was blindfolded. I checked around her neck and she was still wearing the gold necklace I had given her-she never took it off.I had waited for this moment for so long but this is not how I had envisioned it. Never in my worst nightmare did I ever expect to find Maya in such a bad state. She was lying in a puddle of water and she was stone-cold. Her hair was in knots and matted in mud. Her skin was shriveled and had turned a bluish-grey color and her lips were blue and cracked.
I almost passed out with relief and anger-but I was mostly filled with rage.My blood was boiling and my heart exploded into a million fractured pieces-why did they do this to her?!She didn’t deserve any of this-why didn’t they take me instead?!Not Maya.I would have willingly traded places with her-without a second thought.I could have given them anything that they had asked for- I could have given my life-if it could have prevented them from hurting Maya in such cruel and inhumane way.If Mark wasn’t already dead, I swear I would have killed him twice over.
I looked around for keys but all I found was a hammer, which I used to remove the nailthat were pinned the chains onto the wall. The nail came off after several attempts, I threw the hammer onto the ground and gathered Maya into my arms. I cradled her head against my chest and wept like a baby-my hot tears splashed onto her face as I shook her gently, trying to wake her up.
“Maya!”I cried out in anguish.”Maya-baby can you hear me? Please wake up babe. Please?” I cried out.
Her lashes fluttered but she didn’t openher eyes. She was still conscious which was a good sign.
I laid her carefully on the floor and gently dragged her to the narrow passageway.I pulled her out slowly, then lifted her up and cradled her against my chest.I couldn’t allow anyone to see her like this so I quickly ran over with her, to my house.Henry would be okay the paramedics would be there soon.
I jogged over to my house which was about five minutes away.As soon as we got home I dialed Dr Williams mobile number and explained to him what just happened. He told me to bring her to the hospital as soon as possible.I called one of my security guards and asked them to run over and check on Henry while I attended to Maya.Another guard helped me to find something to break off her cuffs and now all I had to do was bath her and make her look decent.
There was no way I was going to take her to the hospital looking like this so I jumped into the shower with her. I washed all the grime from her body and carried her back to the bed.She was partially awake now but still unable to speak-she kept zoning out.
While she was lying down, I managed to slip her into a dress, brush her hair and tie it into a pony tail. Then I carried her downstairs and asked the driver to take us to the hospital.
